I think the signing was a mistake as D Jackson really doesn't help the eagles get better.
I think the eagles needed to get a player like P. Garcon more then D. Jackson. I know most are probably saying I am crazy, but lets look at the Eagles offense.
M. Vick is a small QB and he needs either passing lanes, spacing, wrs going down the field longer or bigger wrs to see when throwing to.
I just think the eagles already have plenty of 20 to 20 wrs with J Maclin, J Avant and B. Celek. What the eagles really need is that tall, strong physical wr that can score in the 20. We just don't have that player and thus that is the reason why we always seem to move the ball up and down the field then settle for FGs.
I do think D. Jackson opens up the field with his speed and downfield routes, but we are paying him much more then he is worth.
Jackson is nothing more then a 55-60 catch, 900-1000 yard and 5 tds type of player. He is not a 10 million a year star.
He does return punts, but I don't think he will return punts much longer in his career and then he is just a wr.
Big mistake by the eagles.
This signing doesn't fill any of the FOUR positions they need to fill to be back contending in the league.
The eagles need a stud guard (should have gone after nicks), MLB to anchor and change this defense (could get this in 1st round), strong safety (another draft pick) and a tall physical wr for inside the 20 (should have been p. garcon or v. jackson if they really wanted to spend the 50+ million)
The eagles should have signed p. garcon and nicks then drafted a lb and safety in the 1st two rounds of the draft.
However, its still early and hopefully the eagles will address the issues they have correctly this year.
