Sharon Stone is a pretty bad actor. Scorsese somehow managed to get a really good performance out of her for Casino.

I disagree with your interpretation of "really good performance". She sucked.
Stone was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress and won a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama for her performance in Casino.
Marisa Tomei won an Academy Award.

It's tempting to say she sucked because she was so annoying. But she was supposed to be annoying. She certainly succeeded.

And Annie Hall won Best Picture. I get it. But claiming Stone's performace "sucked" is laughable.

:D Played the role to perfection. I wanted to strangle her.

Is it any wonder why Bobby D. is my favorite actor (by far)... how's this for a resume of dramas?

Casino

Goodfellas

Godfather II

Mean Streets

Taxi Driver

Raging Bull

A Bronx Tale

Those are each among my favorite movies ever, and he's a huge part of all of them.

I didn't care for "Heat" and "The Deer Hunter" as much as some other people.
He was great in Sleepers as well.

How do you leave out Cape Fear? He was unreal in that

I can appreciate the argument that Goodfellas is a better movie, but I still prefer Casino. I think that the character development of Ace and Nicky is better than anyone in Goodfellas. Ace is the most interesting character to me of anyone. My opinion my also be colored by Henry Hill's many ridiculous appearances on Stern, thus making me really dislike him.

I agree with most of the things said in here.

Goodfellas is better, but Casino is awfully close. I always thought it was possible that if Casino came out first, it would be considered better.

Sharon Stone did a terrific job. People are confusing their hatred for the Character as bad acting. The fact that you hated her means she did a great job.

Heat and Donnie Brasco were OK movies, but they dont touch either of these. Not sure if True Romance has a lot in common with these movies, while Deniro or Pacino werent in the movie, it is mob related. Its as good as Casino, and maybe even Goodfellas. The Walken/Hopper scene was the best scene in any movie...ever.

Agree with whoever said you wont think to put the DVD in, but will watch it every time it comes on TV. Although i do that with alot of movies. I just thought it was because i was lazy, but its almost like winning something when you flick through the channels and find a great movie on. Its always more fun to win something then to just get it.

The scene at the end of Casino is one of the hardest to watch. when Nicky has to watch his brother get beaten to death with a bat. I have to turn away when Pesci begs to stop hitting him, he is still breathing.

Godfather 1-2(they are just one long movie to me at this point) is still the best movie ever.

This gets mentioned all the time, but I thought Tomei was hilarious in My Cousin Vinny.

She was alright. Don't know if it was Academy Award worthy. Must have been a weak year.

Casino by far.

I think in all fairness, I should explain to you exactly what it is that I do. For instance tomorrow morning I'll get up nice and early, take a walk down over to the bank and... walk in and see and, uh... if you don't have my money for me, I'll... crack your ####in' head wide-open in front of everybody in the bank. And just about the time that I'm comin' out of jail, hopefully, you'll be coming out of your coma. And guess what? I'll split your ####in' head open again. 'Cause I'm ####in' stupid. I don't give a #### about jail. That's my business. That's what I do.

I think people tend to greatly underestimate how hard it is to be funny.

Goodfellas just starting on Spike.Be warned: it's the most annoying dubbing of any movie ever.
I feel like there hasnt been a good mob movie, or even a respectable one, since The Departed. Maybe Im forgetting something, but I dont think so.I saw Killing Them Softly a week or 2 ago and it was pretty freaking awesome IMO though.

They are certainly hard to come by. Hell, I didn't even really like Donny Brasco until the 5th time I saw it.
Big fan of Donnie Brasco, but a lot of that comes back to Pacino and Depp as the leads. And also, Donnie Brasco came out 15 friggin years ago so case in point in what Im saying. Not like they make a lot of mob movies, or somewhat similar crime dramas, but the good ones are few and far between.

I want to see that. Looks freakin awesome. Also, I can't stand when movies are ridiculously dubbed. It's not just the cutting out curses. I can't stand when they cut out scenes. Scenes vital to the whole freakin story. Like for example [tangent] they had District 9 on Spike and they cut out the whole scene where he sprays himself in the face with the black stuff. He just goes into the shack and comes out throwing up. That's kind of the most important scene plotwise in the movie. But I digress. [/tangent]

It has its flaws, but I really liked it. It feels like it aspires for early Tarantino, and pretty much gets there. Dialogue is fantastic. Ben Mendolsohn (Animal Kingdom) and Scoot McNairy (Monsters) are great. Pitt really seals the last 30-40 minutes, there are 2 very memorable scenes Id say.Its not your traditional mob type movie though. That said, definitely will be in my Top 5 for the year.

Just watched the last 45 mins this morning on HBO. Honestly, I thought it was terrible, much worse than I remembered and a pale imitation of goodfellas.

Imitation of Goodfellas? They arent remotely similar besides being involving the mob and being crime dramas.
