Post Your 2011 Rookie Draft (1 Viewer)

10 team. No ppr. 1 QB. 2 RB. 3 WR. Started today.

http://football2.myf...ns?L=19060&O=17

I'm the Monkeys.
Roy Helu still available is surprising, but not as surprising as Ponder with the 1.6.
Ponder at 1.6 was a mistake by the owner. He had Leshoure set to auto pick and Ponder to go for his 2nd round pick. Except he messed up the software settings and wound up with Ponder way too early. Helu is a surprise though. Although I have zero interest in grabbing him.

Wow, i know its his fault, but i think the draft should have been stopped after his pick and the guy given a chance to fix it.

He didn't request it or indicate it was a mistake until a few picks had been made. Hard to go back at that point.

I dont want to hijack this thread any further, but he should have at least had the option to switch his pick with a player that had not been drafted yet once he realized the mistake. He should get to switch it now if he wants, maybe he can get Helu. The 1.6 is too early for him, but its alot better than Ponder.

I understand what you're saying. We will end this here then. Maybe for another thread.

Wow, i know its his fault, but i think the draft should have been stopped after his pick and the guy given a chance to fix it.
If caught early enough I agree, but if LeShoure had been picked have trouble taking a player away from another team. I would let him take a player who hadn't been taken.

S.Vareen-RB auctioned for $33.00 to Fireants at 1.04.

D.Thomas-RB auctioned for $30.00 to Fireants at 1.01.

G.Little-WR auctioned for $29.00 to Marauders at 1.10.

A.Dalton-QB auctioned for $20.00 to Outlaws at 1.07.

C.Newton-QB auctioned for $10.00 to Geckos at 1.08.

G.Salas-WR auctioned for $10.00 to Marauders at 2.02.

J.Baldwin-WR auctioned for $10.00 to Dogs at 2.05.

N.Irving-LB auctioned for $9.00 to Fireants at 1.06.

V.Miller-LB selected for $7.23 by Polecats at 2.07.

P.Peterson-CB selected for $6.57 by Geckos at 1.02.

J.J.Watt-DL selected for $5.27 by Outlaws at 2.09.

N.Fairley-DL auctioned for $5.00 to Outlaws at 1.09.

K.Rudolph-TE selected for $5.00 by Fireants at 2.10.

Context:

- 10 team/53 man roster league

- Auction/contract format with a $1000 salary cap

- PPR tackle heavy scoring

- Start 1QB,2RB,2WR,1TE,1K,3DL,4LB,2CB,2S

- Veterans can be signed to a 1-5 year contract with price escalation built in each year.

- Rookies can be signed to an initial 1-3 year contract with price escalation built in. Drafting owner can put that player up for auction in the 4th year with the right to either retain the player by matching the high bid or he can let the player go to the highest bidder and take a future draft pick(s) as compensation from that high bidder. See the Matt Ryan comment below.

- Since we use an auction/contract format, an owner can use his draft pick by either selecting a rookie at a predetermined price for that draft spot based upon the player's position or, if the owner thinks that the slot price is too high for the player he wants, he can put the player up for auction having the right to match the high bid.

- Because the learning curve is longer for QB's and WR's, you tend to see lower prices paid for those players compared to RB's.

Comment:

- In previous years, about 50% of the rookies taken were selected at the predetermined slot prices and the other 50% were auctioned. This year, 75% of the players were auctioned. Of the 15 players put up for auction, the nominating owner matched the high bid 11 times. That indicates to me that owners bought in to the perception that this was not a particularly elite class in terms of talent but that there was still plenty of value to be had.

- Julio could have been selected for $35.32 from the 2.03 but bidding went up to $40.00.

- Immediately prior to our rookie draft, we had our auction for the 2008 rookies entering their 4th year. Matt Ryan went for $110.00. That's top 5-9 money. By comparison, the 10th highest paid QB is Eli at $60.57. Julio seems to be pushing Ryan's value way up.

- To put Ingram's price in perspective, last year Jahvid Best brought $65.00 at auction, C.J.Spiller brought $91.00, Cedric Benson and Beanie Wells brought $105.00 each, Ryan Grant went for $127.00, MJD brought $326.00 and ADP brought $340.00. All the other top 20 RB's were already under contract for 2010. Ingram at $80.00 would have been the 12th highest paid RB in our league in 2010.

Ongoing slow draft, 12 team IDP PPR QB/RB/RB/WR/WR/TE/Flex1. AJ Green2. Mark Ingram3. Daniel Thomas4. Julio Jones5. Ryan Williams6. Mikel LeShoure7. Greg Little8. Shane VereenOnly surprise so far was Thomas going above Jones. Talked to the guy who took Thomas, and it wasn't that he didn't like Jones..."Jones was never an option for me, I needs RB's" was his response. That's how you run a team into the ground, drafting for need in the top-3. In my opinion, of course. Thomas could be a star and make me look dumb. But his reasoning for the pick will always be bad, and that's more important in the long run.
Wow, still going. Can't believe Murray went so high. Guy even admitted it was a HUGE reach for him, but he needed to lock up the Cowboys backfield, in his opinion, and couldn't trade back. Same guy who made the comments about Thomas vs. Jones above...9. Jon Baldwin10. Cam Newton11.DeMarco Murray

Lance Kendicks first TE off the board?
Yep...I'm not real sure he shouldn't be either. I think Rudolph may be a better complete TE...but Kendricks was taken to be a pass catcher.
isn't he playing behind finley though?
You're thinking of DJ Williams. Yes, Kendricks should be taken before Rudolph. I took Kendricks over Rudolph in about 5 leagues already.
Williams is playing behind last years rookie too Quarles.
He's all over the place in drafts, I saw him go in the 4th a couple times..I wanted him and felt like there was a good possibility he wouldn't fall to me in the 3rd round. I'll never know what could have been, but I got my guy.. Lance Kendricks for President!!

No you can only have one copy of a player. It's essentially a 16 team league in terms of player rankings. I've been in many leagues, and the 32 team is my favorite ever. They also have it organized just like the NFL, with the team names, divisions, playoff structure and all. Very, very fun.

In aforementioned 32 team draft, I had a pretty good rookie draft.

1.01 Julio Jones

1.04 AJ Green

1.06 Mark Ingram

2.07 Jacquizz Rodgers

2.30 Nate Irving

2.37 Edmond Gates

3.09 Jabaal Sheard

3.14 Colin McCarthy

3.33 Jaiquawn Jarrett

Remember you divide the number after the decimal by two to get the approximate draft selection in a normal 16 team league since there are double copies of players.

BTW, I'm not playing with children or anything. Very stiff competition. My poor record last year allowed me to get the top pick. I acquired lots of first rounders and also traded Maclin and Emmanuel Sanders. Took awhile to sort out, but I'm pumped.

LB's are pretty valuable in the league but even with that it was very surprising to me. But this league tends to surprise me a lot come draft time.

I'm Huskies and happy to get Baldwin and Cobb. Its an IDP league where RB's get 1.5 PPR and TE's get 2 ppr(WR's get 1 PPR). We get some return yards too.

Carter went a little early but otherwise think the draft is going pretty normally.

Dalton, Patrick Peterson and Greg Little(so late) are sure surprises too. Is there a reason for a DB in the 1st?
