Definitely noticed more of this going on lately, particularly at breweries. Was pretty disappointed in the one I went to yesterday to meet some friends that was out of kombucha. Although I guess that technically does have some alcohol in it?Yeah, I’m sure people acquire the taste. What I have more trouble believing, is some people claim they liked the taste of booze (and beer, in particular) from the first sip.The non-alcoholic beer market is a $25 billion dollar industry, how do you explain that?I also am not sure I buy it when people (some I know in real life) tell me they only drink beer because they like the taste.
That would be like smoking marijuana without any marijuana in it.
Of course it's not 100%, but it's my opinion almost everyone drinks alcohol for the effect.
I also think there’s a slight societal shift to destigmatize non-drinkers, but mocktails and N.A. beers still alleviate the pressure to drink an “adult” beverage.
This is basically me since forever.I rarely drink.....like rarely.
Social beers.....a social drink.
We don’t drink at home......ever.
Just never been my thing.
But I do really enjoy good ice cold beers with friends.....but as far as hard liquor......nope. Once in a blue moon.
If a doctor asked me what is my alcohol intake I would say maybe the equivalent of a 18 pack of beer in year.
Maybe a glass of wine 3-4 times a year.
No hard alcohol.
I don't believe anyone drinks black coffee because they like the taste.I also am not sure I buy it when people (some I know in real life) tell me they only drink beer because they like the taste.

Weird, some people have different likes/tastes. I guess black coffee is an acquired taste.also wildly incorrectI don't believe anyone drinks black coffee because they like the taste.I also am not sure I buy it when people (some I know in real life) tell me they only drink beer because they like the taste.

I LOVE chocolate milk. And grape juice, apple juice. Just not about getting all the sugar from those so I usually avoid them.I don't believe anyone drinks black coffee because they like the taste.I also am not sure I buy it when people (some I know in real life) tell me they only drink beer because they like the taste.

It’s kinda odd so many adult drinks are acquired tastes.
Why has society decided sweet beverages, like chocolate milk and fruit juice, are predominantly for kids?
I used to put enough sugar and cream in my coffee to make it a straight up dessert drink. But the sugar just isn’t that great for me. So I stopped cold turkey. I figured out how much sugar I wasn’t ingesting after a few years and it was in the pounds. It’s been 10+ years now.I don't believe anyone drinks black coffee because they like the taste.I also am not sure I buy it when people (some I know in real life) tell me they only drink beer because they like the taste.

Fair enough. I may need to give black coffee another chance.I used to put enough sugar and cream in my coffee to make it a straight up dessert drink. But the sugar just isn’t that great for me. For sure. I’ve often put forth the question, what’s worse for you, one coke or a beer. I think the coke is worse for you. Talking about 1. Not 9 beers.Fair enough. I know it’s not an either/or, but calories from alcohol aren’t exactly healthy, either.

I had the same experience. Bought a Garmin watch for Christmas and can now show you in my sleep history on the app the days I drink. The sleep score is usually around 50 vs 80-90 on a regular day. Not sure if the actual number means anything. But it seems consistent with how I feel the next day just quantified.I've been all over the spectrum. I went many years of no drinking.
Then some drinking.
Then some time when I was drinking 2 drinks a day.
I'm one of those people that processes alcohol seemingly well. I never ever wake up feeling groggy or even remotely hung over.
6 months ago, I would have said I can have two drinks in the evening and I wake up feeling exactly the same as if I'd nothing to drink.
And then I bought an Oura ring. https://ouraring.com/. I was honestly surprised at how much better my sleep and readiness stats are the morning after no drinks.
My resting heartrate is almost always 3-5 beats higher on a night after having had 2 drinks. And my REM and Deep Sleep are always significantly better on days when I don't have a drink. And I would have said I sleep fine on nights after a drink.
Really interesting.
