The middle-aged dummies are forming a band called "Blanket"! It's a cover band. (7 Viewers)

I should probably post a new thread for this but I'm reluctant to venture out into the wilds of the FFA.

Last week, a woman that I see and say hello to regularly on my twice-daily dog walks asked if I could send her a picture of my dog because she's getting back into watercolors and wants to paint him. I took down her email address and sent her a couple photos of Milo. Today, she sent me an email telling me the painting was ready and to text her when I wanted to pick it up. She also gave me her IG handle so I could see it beforehand. What's the deal here? Do I need to offer to pay her for the painting? Can I just buy something for her dog? Do I need to do anything beyond a hearty "thank you"? Please help.
I think you have to sleep with her husband now.
My first thought was, "Sleep with her wife."

Something similar happened to me yesterday after our

friends kept sending disgusting internet porn to our office emails in 1999. I got sick of it, so I found the most disgusting porn you could find and sent it to my friends as retaliation. Unfortunately, one of them was named Kristopher. Our head of HR was named Kristin. I was stoned, typed in "Krist," and let auto-fill do the rest of the work and voila! The head of HR had me sending obscene pornography to her.

The senior VP, needless to say, was notified and I was put on watch. (Thankfully not fired.)

True story, folks.

God, no wonder about a lot of things.

My internet innocence was shattered a year or so earlier, when my friend Karyn and I were playing around with it at work and decided to see what the websites associated with our names were like. Hers was owned by a cute boutique of some sort. krista.com turned out to be a site I should not have visited on my work computer.

One of my gamer buddies discovered the hard way (at work) that there is quite a difference between "fantasyflight.com" and "fantasyflightgames.com". One sells board games, the other... doesn't.

Also, don't Google "lemon Party" with images enabled. Especially don't do it just as your six-year-old son walks into the room.

Someone we know almost destroyed his desk top trying to turn that off.
My law school e-mail system had some weird bug where you could change the name of the sender that would appear in the “from” field. So, my law school roommate would sometimes send e-mails to folks and change the “from” field, so the recipient would think the e-mail came from their professor. Then he’d attach a Word document to the e-mail and put in the body “please see attached for an updated syllabus for the rest of the semester.” Then, you’d open the Word document and inside would be an embedded image of “lemon party” or something else of that ilk. I still feel traumatized.

when my friend Karyn and I were playing around with it at work and decided to see what the websites associated with our names were like. Hers

would be so much different now, I'm sure. One of my ex-girlfriends is named Karen. We haven't spoken in a while, but I wonder how she feels about the co-opting of her name for something more broadly cultural. Your friend is glad you're not searching now for what "Karyn" brings about on the internet.

I'm going to have a lot of listening to do tomorrow, since I haven't had time for the #27s yet and will post the #26s in the morning. Gotta get all my listening done before The Big Game on Sunday. Haven't decided whom to root for yet as I neither love nor hate either team, which makes rooting more difficult. We're throwing a Chicago-themed party with Chicago-style pizza, Italian beef, Garrett's popcorn, and Eli's cheesecake, among other things. The Garrett's is in Chicago Bears tins, which I thought would be a nice bit of irony given their conspicuous absence from recent Big Games.

BIG NEWS!!!

For all you click-haters, tomorrow will be the first (and only?) time that all songs will be available on the Spotify playlist! :excited:

We will also have our first (and only?) Menage-a-Falala-Trois! This cover is new to the countdown so will be getting its first, second and third votes simultaneously.

Great timing! One of the teams in the Big Game will also be represented.

As a tangential/new Seahawk fan, you must root for KC in this game 😀

We are making prosciutto, fig, cheddar and goat cheese flatbreads and tot-chos. And I will have the last two (high-ABV) beers (from Connecticut) I won from TheWinz for getting a "perfect score" in Week 17 of the SP's Offense-Defense Contest.

I am rooting for KC because of Andy Reid and because some of the 49er fans on this board are insufferable.

I presume my wife is rooting for KC because of Taylor Swift.

It's as good a reason as any!

Come to Houston. We have awesome food here. Also music.

And cockroaches that fly. Oh, wait...

Whew! That was a close one. Just watched #25 Navy beat #24 Puke in women's lacrosse 10-9. On mute, while listening to a Prince tribute on WXPN. Such is my life these days.
If my notebook is correct … Johns Hopkins is in your area. Are they still a lacrosse power? Remember seeing them sometimes back in the mid-1980s on ESPN.
They are still one of the better programs, but the power is spread out a lot more than it used to be. The rankings are still dominated by Mid-Atlantic schools, but gone are the days when 18 of the top 20 were from DC/MD/VA.

I never played (it was a rich kid's game even back in the '70s), but I've always liked watching it. Given my temper when I was young, putting a stick in my hand would not have been wise

Don’t think I’ve ever ventured in there - sounds like a good thing. I typically don’t go into team threads other than our masochistic Jets one.

There's a special level of fandom going on in that one.

eta* Whoops. I mean the SF one. I can see now why you're confused. I could have been referring to the Jets thread. I was not saying anything about the Jets thread.

I'm going out of town. I hope everyone has a great weekend. 🏈🍻

International woman of mystery, what's in the works (if I'm not prying)?
I'm collecting on some of my birthday rainchecks. Tonight I'm going to see a 70's cover band called 8 Track Minds. I'm keeping this thread theme going IRL by seeing a cover band. One of my friends going also just had a bday, so it's a celebration of both birthdays. I plan on wearing the grooviest blouse I have to celebrate my inner 70s self. I plan on cutting the rug, too. I have some arthritis around the bottom of my right big toe that has been bothering me, but it won't stop me from dancing. :grad: I plan on getting fitted with a pair of shoes that will better accommodate that area and help that inflammation go down when I get back. Some days it doesn't bother me, but it always does when it is rainy, and it's gonna rain the next three days, plus it's aggravated. The next day, I'm traveling to see another group of friends, and I'm going to watch the Super Bowl with them. What is on the bill of fare is a surprise. I hope my stomach behaves. I'm still getting bouts of queasiness since starting that new medication at the beginning of January.

I may need one of those Rob Lowe “NFL” hats. Just rooting for a good game.

A friend of ours from our D.C. days wore one of those out to bar in 2002 or 2003. It was hilarious. We kept asking him who he was cheering for and would keep interrupting him before he could even answer with "NFL! NFL!"

Wonder if he ever wore the hat again.

Guy wound up as Chief White House Correspondent for the NYT (I think that was his title and position). Wrote a book.

Protect the shield, folks.

Houston really does have excellent food. Naturally Mexican, but Vietnamese too. Too bad you gotta drive 30 minutes to everything. But to me it's a highly underrated town. Just went to Austin for the first time too, and that's another really great food town.

Of the 5 pointers that I already know well, these are my favorites. Halfway through the unknowns and will post later. And then listen to the 6 pointers.

You know how they say cats have nine lives? The Isleys just chuckle and make another record, decade after decade.

This is BBQ Music in excelsis. I love the original and may prefer it to this version, but it's very very close. Ronnie Isley has one of the most distinct voices in rock history and he uses it here.

There are, of course, a million covers of Watchtower. But it's an important and symbolic device used in Battlestar Galactica - possibly my all time favorite show.

A lot was made about how the song could be heard by the show's characters but that's explainable by Dylan's quote on songwriting, "The songs are there. They exist all by themselves just waiting for someone to write them down. I just put them down on paper. If I didn't do it, somebody else would.'"

The jump coordinates that Kara Thrace deduces from the music are 1123,6536,5321. If treated as the notes of a Phrygian mode scale, with "1" representing the root note, a tune is played identical to that which is heard as Thrace keys in the jump coordinates

There are a few tracks that use the tune well in the score, particularly the last of these
A Distant Sadness
Heeding the Call
Kara Remembers
Kara's Coordinates
