will you give me 95:1? thats a massive overlay for you.
I deleted your post because we have been asked to not quote posts like your numerous times. I'm sure you will find out why soon. Enjoy your time away
I have no idea what this is all about - but I must say it makes you look like you are about 10...
 bye :bye: see you in a few days

Got a feeling the NFL will try to pass this drug bill today to get the Ray Rice stuff off the front page. The NFL and Goodell are getting crushed by this. Its disaster Recovery rule 1. Distraction. the wag the dog policy . Create a new story to supersede the previous one. And what could make the news even bigger. Reinstatement of Welker and Gordon. Again this is just a thought I have and not based on any thing I read. Just more reason for the NFL to get this done ASAP. They need some good news.
Also gets them in line with current public perception that marijuana use shouldn't be criminalized, so that's a win in court of public opinion (at least helps weather the Rice storm).

See I don't see that as being a feel good story to the public. I think the ray news hurt Gordon. It just FEELS like trading one form of lawless debauchery for another.

This is the play 60/pink jersey/ family friendly league.

Just dropped Kelvin Benjamin for him... Benjamin will be on waivers till sunday or tuesday and i have priority 3 and im deep at WR.. so hoping for good news
you must have a beastly team
MEgatron / DT / VJax / Gordon and a solid chance at getting KBenj back
Not sure if you are serious here, but...Just an FYI. In most leagues. You can't claim a player off waivers that you dropped.
Never heard of this rule. Ever.
You cannot put a waiver claim on anyone you sent to waivers. You can only pick him up after he clears.
Yeah that is news to me, it let me "Enter it in" so if someone below me on WW priority grabs him and they get him over me I will be okay. Especially if Gordon gets to play. Ive made bigger mistakes in FF lol..
Should be fine then. Was just trying to forewarn you.

When I said this, it was in response to getting a deal done in time for the suspended players to play 16 games. I already won that bet.

The HGH story may be huge with us here, and of course Sports Center/ESPN, but the Ray Rice story was the lead in to Good Morning America, Today Show and CBS Morning Show. It's not going away that easily.

I agree with Smack Tripper here. How does lifting drug bans help the league image?

I just want this resolved one way or another. This has been a hysterical, long, strange trip... but its time for it to resolve.
About 140 pages since actual game results and projections were discussed.
Yeah, I think this is being overlooked b/c of the obvious focus on whether or not he'll actually play.

I still believe it's considerably less than a 50% chance Gordon suits up this year and IF he does, I don't know that he is able to step in immediately, if at all, and perform up to the standard he established last year.

He has had this hanging over him for almost 8 months now. Focus and conditioning looked to be problems in pre-season and I'd not be surprised if those carried over should he be allowed to play this year. Plus there is a new coaching staff, continued questions at QB, etc. Those of us counting on cashing in on Gordon as a lottery ticket may end up being disappointed even if the long shot of him getting his suspension adjusted comes to fruition.

Pretty much anyone, except child molesters, are a step up from wife-beaters. So, you shift the conversation to just about anything, and it is a step up for the league. Combine that with clearly shifting attitudes about pot, and the NFL spins this as a get tough on HGH policy, and nobody really cares about Gordon and Welker coming back.

It won't with some people. But with quite a few others, it is a correction of flawed policy. And just about anything to distract those coming for Goodell with the pitchforks is preferable. But I don't think it will have any bearing on the league's flexibility on any substantive issue.

Public doesn't care about recreational pot use. NFL owners should want players on the field. Seems like a no brainer. Get it done, dummies!

i'm more curious to see if this new HGH testing policy is going to ruin fantasy football this year with a boatload of suspensions

Yes. That's the way I felt (after correctly and publicly flagellating Rice for his actions, of course).

This is why it may not pass with the PA. Most players are smart enough to not get suspended for recreational drugs. They may not want to be exposed to HGH testing.

I remember reading something about a trainer for elite level athletes saying that easily 90%+ are on some kind of PEDs. They teach them how to pass their drug tests. Its all about knowing what tests you have to pass and then using certain drugs that arnt tested and timing the drug use of tested drugs so that you will pass every time. He even had drug stacks for guys that are randomly tested with only a few hours notice. He said an athlete has to be stupid to fail a drug test, and most that fail fail because they think they are taking one drug when really they are taking something different, happens sometimes when you buy from underground labs, but pro nfl players should be able to get pharma grade drugs no prob

I don't really understand why the NFL wants a tougher testing policy. Seems like it would be bad for business. Unless they're fearful of getting a Senate hearing.

I think the deal with the Gordon ban is he had to give up 2 samples I believe and they choose one randomly for testing. The one was negative and the other was just BARELY over the illegal limit. Could have been from second hand smoke as is Gordon's excuse. Pretty sure that is why people are more optimistic Gordon's ban will be lifted.

My wording/understanding may not be concise...but it was something like that.

NFLPA schedules call with agents to discuss drug-testing policy

The NFL Players Association is huddling with player agents today to discuss the possibility of a new drug-testing agreement.

Although there is no agreement currently in place, talks have progressed to the point where the player representatives could vote on a proposal today. The call involving the NFLPA and player agents takes place at 1:30 p.m. ET today.

Among the changes in a new drug-testing policy would be blood tests for human growth hormone, as well as increasing the threshold for a positive marijuana test and changing the classification of amphetamine use in the offseason from a performance-enhancing drug policy violation to a substance-abuse policy violation.

It remains to be seen whether the players will go along with the league’s proposed changes, but the NFLPA wants to make sure the players’ agents understand exactly what the league is proposing.

Its not just Gordon and Welker , this will affect alot of players and teams.

The Miami Dolphins are awaiting the decision by the NFL players on a new drug policy that could and will most likely lift the bans placed on safety Reshad Jones and DE Dion Jordan. Under the new rules that are being proposed, both players would not fall under suspensions.

The league and the NFLPA have been negotiating a new drug enforcement policy for the last week. Initially it was believed that the deal would have closed last week but now it appears that the deal will get done within the next 48 hours. The NFLPA has called for an 8 p.m. conference call with all 32 team player representatives to go over the parameters of the deal. If the reps approve it the deal would then go to the players for an official vote.

Based on this timing I guess there is no way we get a resolution today. I was hoping to have some clarity before I have to put my bid in for Gordon tonight. This makes it a lot harder.

Actually it could make it easier. Once it is announced he is released to play for sure (if that's what happens) then his cost will be sky high, maxed out really.

Over 54% of people over 45 don't want it legalized.

53% of women don't want it legalized.

64% of Republicans don't want it legalized.
It's legal in 2 states and more coming.

If you ask people should NFL players be held to a higher standard for pot than Olympic atheltes I think the results would be quite a bit different as well.

Who is this guy?

Here we go again, people spinning the same stuff hoping for a different answer.

This is at the mercy of an agreement between the NFL and NFLPA, if they only agree to go back so far then thats how far back they go. For instance if they only allow this past year, then so be it. This is contract law, its hard to understand, but the answer is quite easy on this one and is not difficult.

Offers are increasing for him. I've now got a 2015 2nd rounder on the table. Not bad seeing I paid a 2016 3rd for him July 5th. But I think I'll wait and see if anyone ups the ante.

uh oh

Mary Kay Cabot@MaryKayCabot
Source told me that if #NFL lets Gordon and Welker back in, everyone dating back to new CBA in '11 will fight for revised suspensions and $$

As well as they should....To go retro is a stupid bad decision.
Wow, did Josh Gordon steal your dog or something? What do you have against the kid?
Easy..he continually violates the terms of his employment and uses illegal drugs and many of you want to make him some kind of a cult figure..This is exactly what is currently wrong with our society, nobody wants to infuse personal responsibility in anyone...Oh he's not a bad kid, he is just misunderstood, lets give him another break...This kid needs to learn a lesson or it will end a lot worse for him than a 1 year suspension from a kids game.

More than a rookie 2nd for a guy that had the 10th best rec. yardage season ever at age 22? Talk about driving a hard bargain!

Given the new information about players suing, I think the ship has about sailed when it comes to him returning immediately. Maybe the suspension will be reduced down, but I even doubt that.

I'm holding in redraft until I hear more, but I really don't see any way he's getting back on the field anytime soon.

Yeah, and Mike Vick was a dog fighter who won many fantasy football championships. I've learned to stop making this so personal. It is afterall, a kid's game.
