Really impressed with Gallardo yesterday against the Rays.

Melvin is probably going to sit pat. They just don't have the prospects to lure anything major.

And as I was typing up a "4th OF would be nice because Logan Schaefer sucks balls" post Melvin trades for Gerardo Parra for a few prospects. Schaefer optioned to Nashville

I like it. Gives them the left-handed bat they were looking for off the bench. Also, great defense. Not sure what Parra's contract situation is, but move Braun to 1st next year and outfield of Davis, Gomez, Parra.

Parra has 1 more year of arbitration. I think I read he's making like $4.8 million this year, the Brewers are footing about $1.6 of that.

Haudricort tweeted some splits today and he hits RHP very well, while Kris Davis does not. And vice versa for LHP. We could see a bit of a platoon but it sounds like he's going to give everyone in the OF a days rest here and there to start.

Without landing one of the big names... probably were not trying to land one anyway... is this a good trade giving up the #3 prospect? I don't see this as a bad trade given the possible benefits to the lineup now. Only question would be was there a different player targeted to fill in this left handed spot as well?

Where is he going to bat in the lineup? #2 or #7ish?

This series is either time to make a statement or a time to tell everyone they are not ready. Huge three games this weekend.

Game 1:

Peralta - 12-6 vs. Wainwright 13-5

Game 2:

Nelson 1-2 vs. Masterson 4-6

Game 3:

Lohse 11-5 vs. Lynn 11-8

Brewers have a two game lead right now... could be 5 on Stl or could be -1. Two games at least the Brewers need from this.

Probably should have been done anyway against the Cardinals.

##### move by Wainright hitting Gomez in the 6th. Runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out. Gomez forced him into a balk earlier in the game. Wainright comes back and hits him in the 6th with a base open. Hope Lucroy can make him pay for it.

ETA: Lucroy with a bases clearing double. Suck it Wainright.

Meh, You don't want to load the bases there with Lucroy-Braun-Ramirez coming up. Not when you're 2 back in the standings. I don't buy it.

Can't make closing out games that difficult.

That said, our bullpen cannot do what Arizona's did tonight. Would have been nice to have Pit lose.

Well, 2nd inning and the Brewers can look towards Sunday. Must win especially if Pit goes on to win later.

As I Pirates fan, I always want the Brewers to lose. However, I think we can all agree it's great to see Masterson to get ripped in his Cardinals debut. :hifive:

Thing is they actually climbed back in to it. I have no idea what Roenicke was waiting for and leaving Loshe in there that long.

How could Roenicke take Garza out after 6? What was his pitch count? Unreal.

Duke comes in a blows another one. He needs to be cut. No assignment, no waiver, just cut. I'd rather Wang pitch than Duke. Unreal.

This is on Roenicke as well. Come on!!!!!!!!!!

Umps helped the Brewers in Arizona today. Terrible game today though. Garza is lights out and he's pulled. :wall:

Dude, he pulled himself from the game because of an injury. And despite your hatred of him, Roenicke is not going to get Yosted. He is here to stay. You better get used to it.

And regarding Duke, have you forgotten about the measley 7 ER he had previously given up all year? He probably needs some rest but dial it back a bit :lmao:

Why are there open seats at this game? This game and tomorrow's game should be sold out.

Attendance was over 40,000.

Big win for the Crew tonight with both the Cards and Pirates losing. Tough game tomorrow against Kershaw.

2 of 3 is a win overall. If Baltimore can score to knock the Cards another loss, even better.

I'm OK with 2 of 3 from the Dodgers ($ of 6 from SF and LA) and actually picking up a game on the Cards in the process.

14 of 18 outs go down as K's. Pretty darn good.

106 pitches though in 6 innings. I'd trade some of those K's for lower counts, no?

Taking 2 from the Cubs earns the team a "C" grade... should be able to take 3 from the Cubbies. Scoring 11 runs in 4 games earns an "F" on the offensive side. Won't win against top opponents with that average.

Only when the Packers play.

Stole one tonight after Greinke held them.

Or you could say they kept it close and made Grienke throw lots of pitches, knowing that LA has poor middle relief.

They have now won 2 of 3 from the Dodgers, 2 of 3 from the Giants, split 2-2 with the Cubs and won their first game against the Dodgers. They can beat two of the best teams in baseball but can't figure out the Cubs.

Tough game today against Kershaw

K Rod may save this but I'm going on the record that Gallardo should have been allowed to go out there for the ninth

ETA And Kemp goes yard as I hit "Submit"

Well that was pretty much a clinic all the way around last night. Great hitting, pitching and defense Hopefully they play that well into this weekend against the Pirates (I'll be going on Sat)

Gotta knock on wood re: Fiers, but he looks awesome. 3 starts, 3 wins, 21 innings, 3 walks, 8 hits, 2 runs.

Yeah, we'll see. I think Fiers has it. The injuries and his mom dying really messed with him. But if he's focused and keeps pitching like this I think they have a tough decision to make for the remainder of this season and into next, which is a good problem to have.

This may be really dumb but he kinda reminds me of what they thought Manny Parra could be. He's got the stuff but just has to keep his control and not have a breakdown once something does go wrong.

Had to get one there against the Pirates. Luckily the Phillies of all teams helped us out. A few huge road trips left where they seem to play well as opposed to MP. And we have 22 of 32 left are against the Central so it's pretty much playoff baseball from here on out.

Frustrating. St. Louis is keeping the door open for the Crew to gain on them. Still only a 1 loss differential which is not good enough. Pitt is coming on strong now as well. Hopefully this is a blur in the hotness that will being in September.

Roenicke needs to shake up the lineup. They've lost how many in a row now because they can't score and he trots out the same lineup day after day. LuCroy should be hitting third and Braun fifth. Gennet leading off and Gomez (or Para) 2nd

Rotten Ron isn't good enough to make that decision.

Runners in scoring position and runners left on base have to be at an all time high with this crew. Holy crap.

1 run game.

PH used in the 9th with 2 on, 2 out.

Yep. Ryan Braun wasn't needed tonight when you have Jason Rogers.
