Lindsay Buckingham is a good guitarist, IMO.
Not too shabby
He's probably my favorite of the non usual suspects when people talk about great guitar players. How he plays that and sings at the same time amazes me.

Look, we survived minivan chat, apple chat, scarf chat, pizza topping chat, pizza oven chat, cat chat, scat chat, scout chat and scores of chat that everybody whined about and nobody found interesting, yet helped propel GMTAN to the largest, greatest thread in FBG history. We will survive this.

We survived the loss of loved ones, the end of relationships, the heartbreak of parenting, the genocide of poultry, the jailing of the innocent, sober Febuarys (plural), countless moves, job loss, Imp implosions, rigged squares contests, several SNOWMAGEDDONS!!!!111juan, Astros baseball, 80% of 10% of us contracting STDs and we survived the revelation that Kev's hair is neither magical nor from outerspace. We will survive this.

We have endured despite the complaints over the evolution of the thread and the many directions the thread has forked over the years. We have battled and won against the board's worst trolls who tried with all their trollish might to derail our community - our family - and failed, leaving with their tails tucked behind their trollish legs, which on their best day make Fuller's look like Lindsey Vonn's. We have fought and reconciled countless times and are far stronger because of it. We will survive this.

So bring to me your cabbage chat, your coffee chat, your office SUPPLIES!!! chat. Lay your cell phone chat upon me, I am your ears and your eyes. Bring me your yardwork chat, astrology chat and chat about your gout. That is why we here. Tell me about Destiney, Knuckles, 23 year old sex starved co workers and Sin. Share your best Gusterian works of literature about your adventures in kayaking, hiking trips to Vegas and how you spent the weekend shopping for mattresses for your Ukrainian ex-lover. This thread is about nothing and everything and I vow to read it all, even the posts by Cosjobs that he makes on his phone after 2am that cause brain bleeding. I will click on every stupid cat gif by Tanner, read every HOA meeting recap by K4 (with a General Murmer of Agreement, natch), continue to side with Frosty in the "Tre is the meanest mean ever" feuds, giggle every time Mr. Pack quotes a post from six weeks ago, envy Bentley's life, marvel at Sacamno's recaps, pretend to care about SLB's local radio podcasts that I have no idea what is going on, root for UH to keep kicking cancer in the balls, encourage YRS to keep drinking and reproducing, hope bostonfred continues to interpret dreams with Freudian fanaticism and pray that Shuke keeps making videos in the room of his house dedicated to creepy dolls. I will periodically wear my hat on backwards (even though Hat has been rather dickish to me), think of Ninja the few times I ride a bike and Hack whenever I drink a beer that tastes like pine needles. Every time I pass a piece of puzzling artwork I don't understand I'll think of Annoyong. I'll think of Bogie when I hear Boogie, Heckman when I play Hangman and Disco Stu every time the Dos Equis commercial is on TV. Why? BECAUSE WE ARE FAMILY. And no board upgrade nor jealous, power happy moderator is going to kill what we do best: Survive and thrive, baby, like Stryker landing a plane against all odds.

Kill me again when we reach 5000 pages and more page views than Pickle's has advanced degrees and we'll rise from the ashes yet again. We rock AND we roll. And if I left anybody out above, please accept my El Floppo Limp Ditka on having a brain like an Idiot Boxer. Like in-season fantasy football trades, it is too tedious to remember all the valuable posters who made GMTAN 1.0 the thread with the most Tremendous Upside in the history of magic football message board lore.
Was told this came across as petulant and an attack on Joe Bryant and MF. Not my intent...was an attempt at humor. I honestly do not care about the board upgrades or decisions. I have 99 (coming in pairs) problems and magic football message board upgrades ain't one.

Viva LA GMTAN 2.0

AA>although the withdrawal of the Kristas from Vegashole is a keenly felt blow, we would love to have you there. You still available first weekend in April? We'll pour out a 40 and buy a condo in her memory.
Thanks, man. I believe maybe so, yeah, at least on Thursday/Friday; may have to drive back to Los Angeles on Saturday night or something like that in case my family wants to do something for Easter. Is that Final Four weekend too? I don't think Duke has any real shot at making the Final Four this season so that's not a real issue.

WAIT what happened to Krista and Mr. K4??? Birthday conflicts?
That is, in fact, Final Four weekend. It will have a minimal impact on crowds.

As to the Kristas, well...she let him find employment, just like a real boy.
Horrible mistake on my part. ####### up plans left and right. I think he did it secretly to get out of going to my Grandpa's 95th birthday party. OK, not so secretly.

I did just get word from Delta on my request for refunds for our flights. I mentioned here (well, in GMTAN1.0) that they had moved my flight time back by almost four hours, which I now used as a reason for them to refund me rather than deducting $600 and then giving me back credits. Not only did that work, but they misread my prior use of various credits to the tune of giving me back $200 in cash that I wasn't entitled to. I've made money from this cancellation. Quick, let's plan some more trips!

Some of you people do Vegas differently than I do.

Are we talking about the same place?
We all need to make a deal:

If people agree not to hike etc in Vegas I promise not to get shirtfaced and play craps in Yosemite.
Better park for you
Like I'd ever go to Kentucky.
tIf you did, we could hit that park, the Ark Park, Shuke's Bobblehead museum, and single-Guster's gravesite in one afternoon. Plus, the airport has nicer carpet.

My dad raced in the Traverse City 250 snowmobile race in the 1960s. Remember two things vividly: my mom was not, under any circumstances, going to park the Ford LTD station wagon on the ice of the Little Traverse Bay. She made that very clear to the parking lot attendant. At which point he suggested she turn around and drive off the ice road she had been on for the last half mile. They other memory was of dad's Ski Doo 699 TNT catching on fire along the back straightway. Scared the hell out of me (he was fine, the sled was roached).

I just found out that I am the only one of my group of local friends who does not own a gun.

I realize this is North Carolina and not Vermont. But it isn't Texas either.

Is it unusual to NOT own a gun in this day and age?
tons of guns in Vermont, GBhttp://watchdog.org/135048/guns-vermont/
Oregon?
It is a hunter's paradise here. I think Tommyboy has an arsenal in his house that could hold off the French Army. Probably not too many handguns in Multnomah County (liberal hippy heart and soul of Portland and a huge voting block) but there are hunting enthusiasts all over the other counties and outside of Portland, Oregon is Texas without the accents and oil.
I dont have an arsenal. But i know several people that do

. Its really easy to buy guns in portland, they're everywhere and cheap

I don't own a gun. Mainly because I have a brother with lots of guns, and now that he's retired, he's available to eliminate threats 24/7.

I got thrown under a bus today. A big bus...like one of those double-decker things they have over in Paris.

TL;DR at the bottom

Our district technology dept consists of 3 people. Rusty (director), Nick (network admin I guess), and Eve the technician. Eve is the one that actually goes into the classrooms and fixes stuff.

Now early in the year I was having some problems with my iPad and Apple TV. No less than four times I made "appointments" with Eve to come to my classroom and fix the problem. And four times in a row she either forgot or came late (which didn't help because I was teaching at the time). I never complained or said anything to anyone. Eventually she solved the problem.

Fast forward to this Monday. I come in in the morning and my desktop computer won't come on. Actually I could hear it start up and if you hit enough keys it would make bing-bong noises but no picture. Unplug it, check the ports etc, but still nothing. Oh it's an Apple so the monitor and comp are all-in-one.

So I get on my iPad and send an email to Eve. She calls me about 2 minutes later and says she's coming over. She gets there with her laptop and pulls up the remote desktop. My comp is working fine but no video. It's pretty obvious that it is toast. I tell her that I've been lazy backing up my files and that I would like to figure out a way to save what I can.

Long story short she realizes that I can use the TV in my room as an external monitor. We agree that I'll use that set up to collect whatever I need onto a thumb-drive and when I'm finished I'll let her know so that she can come get my busted computer and/or get me a replacement.

So I spend all my prep and lunch saving my files. By the end of the day I was 99% sure I had everything but wanted to double check Tuesday AM. That's when I would contact Eve.

Right after school on Monday we had a staff meeting in the library. After we took care of the usual BS the director guy, Rusty, shows up and says that if any one had and tech related issues or questions he would be available to answer them.

I go up to Rusty and ask him if he knew about my computer. He said he had heard something about it. I told him what Eve and I did that morning. I then told him everything was working out but I just wanted to know how long it might take to get a new comp once my old one was hauled away. That was all I asked him. There was absolutely no negativity on my end. Rusty says that since he was over on the same side of campus he would come by my room and check it out. I wasn't really sure why he wanted to do that but whatever. I went home right after that.

Tuesday morning I come in and out of habit I hit the spacebar on my keyboard. The comp wakes up. I check the desktop and it's obvious that I've now got a replacement AND all of my files are right there. Sweet.

Eve emails me a few minutes later and says that Dustin replaced my comp and backed up all my files. And that if I needed anything to let her know.

I reply back that everything is great but there were a couple of apps I needed. She takes care of that with remote desktop in less than 30 minutes. Double sweet.

Then this morning I realize that I am not connected to the printer I share with the other teachers in my pod. I email Eve and she takes care of that too. Awesome.

Then at 1:25 today I get this email from her:

Well, I was just fired and the specific example that you called Rusty and felt I didn't help you enough when your computer died. Why didn't you tell me directly? I feel that was very unprofessional of you to do that, and so unfair. I always did my best and with a smile.

Thanks a whole bunch.
I was floored. Now obviously Rusty wanted her gone for some reason. But nothing in the brief conversation I had with Rusty on Monday afternoon could be construed as "complaining". I sent her a reply stating that and that I was actually very happy with how much she had helped me.

But by that time I'm sure she was walking out the door with a cardboard box full of her personals, her tears filling up a Dr. Who or Bazinga! coffee mug.

Of course I have no idea what the hell Rusty actually told her but obviously he gave her the impression that I complained about her. What a #####.

I printed out all of the emails between her and I from the last 3 days and showed them to my principal. He asked me to forward the last one to him and he was going to talk to Rusty.

I didn't do anything else before I left for the day. I'm pretty sure that tomorrow I'm going to try to set up a meet between me, Rusty, and our assistant supernintendo. Rusty better have a damn good explanation for his bush-league bull ####.

tl;dr: Our district tech director fired our tech gofer chick today. She sent me an email blaming me for her firing because I complained to said director about her...which I did not. Director is going to get two punches if he can't explain it.

You monster!!

Seriously, Rusty is a ####. He wanted her out and he's a huge ######, so he blamed you. I'm sure this is obvious to you.

Yikes. I'm guessing that her not showing up on time didn't just happen to you and her boss was fed up. Maybe he had told her to replace your computer ASAP and when he found out it wasn't he canned her. But crappy to blame you regardless.

I actually think he went ahead and replaced my computer as a way of saying "you're not doing your job so I'll have to do it". Yeah, total richard move on his part to totally misrepresent the brief conversation I had with him.

Any chance that you made a sarcastic comment that was taken the wrong way? I mean, this is you we're talking about here.
Zero percent chance.
Sorry they put you in the middle.

They might have bigger issues than just yours if they fired her over some trumped-up BS.
