No.  We've peaked.  From here it's a week of cleanup on the streets and back to work.  Much better days ahead brother.  Chin up!

I would recommend watching it on cnn.  Wait for a clip to come on YouTube.  The transcript isn’t quite as impactful as watching him deliver it with the SS, I mean police, shoving citizens in a box in the corner.

Couldn't find a CNN clip, but I watched it.  That was not the message we needed.  Of course, it never is with him.

I notice he didn't actually lay out a single new idea, just repeated the "weak governors need to dominate or I'll do it for them" garbage.  Basically a "worst of Trump's tweets" compilation speech.

These rioters have probably used up most of their vacation time and should be heading back to work, right?

(That'd be funnier in non-Covid times)

Anyone else see this protestor I’m DC with half a bottle of booze in his back pocket and a guitar on his back? I’ve seen him several times in the last hour or so.

Not sure why he’s not been arrested

Powerful how?

If he then started ripping out pages and using them as toilet tissue, his supporters would stop mid-sentence and start yelling : "What a powerful statement... We can't rely on faith to solve these problems anymore, we need strong leadership and someone to make the tough calls. So grateful for President Trump!"

It just doesn't matter what he says or does.

What do we want the federal branch to do about law enforcement in this situation?

Is there anything that wouldn't be viewed as "totalitarian dictatorship police state alert!"?

I get cops are in a tough spot. I've spoken to that in here. This is just a lose-lose situation for them.

But the Federal government can de-escalate situations without the use of law enforcement. That is what I hoped. To reach out a hand and start to move the discussion forward. Instead, he just reignited things. Pretty much saying we won't be bullied which in some cases, can be viewed as a pissing contest between the President and the protesters. I think he is supposed to be the bigger man but he's never been that.

"If malice or violence reigns, then none of us is free" Trump proclaims, as grenades can be heard exploding in the distance to clear a park for his photo op. I'm afraid of where we're headed in this moment. We've been building to it for years as Trump's own party has refused to stand up to him on even the most basic elements of human decency.

Investigating civil rights violations fall within the jurisdiction of the federal government. Assuming you’re talking about allegations of systemic racism and police brutality, I think the feds have a role.

Like how? The left has spent five years telling people why he shouldn't be listened to (and yes, he himself has spent about 73).

He's a con man, his belief in religion is just part of that. Have you seen the video where he's asked about his favorite verse in the bible. If not, it's worth watching, trust me.

Perfect example - Mayor of Austin said today that they got intel from the FBI prior to this weekend that outside groups were planning to come to Austin to disrupt the protests. I reckon that was quite helpful and appreciated.

I think we all need to calm down a little bit.

Trump’s speech was awful, no doubt about it. It made me feel sick listening to it. But that’s because I’m not a conservative. Conservatives are going to hear that speech and like the fact that he’s getting tough. In fact, I expect his approval rating to go up.

But those of you fearing dictatorship, don’t. As usual his speech was bluster. He’s got no way to call the military out to states that don’t want it, just as a month ago when he said he could order states to open up again, that was all crap too. Like 100% of everything he’s ever done during his Presidency, he’s playing up to his base. That’s all he knows how to do.

As for the riots, I suspect @Cowboysfan8 is correct: we’re going to have them no matter what Trump said or didn’t say. We’re going to have them until the bad elements among the protesters get weary of it. But that being said, I suspect Trump made things just a bit worse.

So you don't think he has made things worse by threatening to deploy the US military on US citizens? Instead of saying, I don't know, we hear you, we're listening and we're going to work to make this country a better place for all. Perhaps, have a few ideas of how to do that.

Now that we clearly see Antifa as terrorists, can we hunt them down like we do those in the Middle East?

My fear is that this is only true so long as he follows the laws and norms of our country. His track record on this point is not encouraging.

Some of us just watched a deliberate provocation of peaceful protesters in DC. It's not crazy to think that maybe it was timed to correspond with Donald's declaration of war on our citizens.

How dumb do you have to be thinking that strolling over to the church and holding up a bible was a good look?

Ah great, there's the call to start murdering US citizens in our own country based on an amorphous ideology. Cool.

Which of the seven deadly sins does the President embrace on a semi-regular basis?:

pride

greed

wrath

lust

gluttony

sloth

I'm a slightly-right leaning, fairly typical conservative Christian.  Devout, despite my many faults.  Trump has offended me and many like me forever.  Never bought what he's trying to sell.  Makes me sad many in my demographic do, and I can't seem to convince them what he really is.  I have never voted for him and never will (I wrote in a nobody on my Oregon primary ballot a couple of weeks ago).  I too am guilty of many of those sins from time to time.  But in the Bible we are told to judge a tree by its fruit.  Our President's fruit does not reveal a devout, worshipful man.

He knows exactly what he's doing and who he's doing it for. It's not for you or for me. It's for the people calling it "historic" and "powerful."
