Oscars 2019 thread (1 Viewer)

Glenn Close will get a token supporting in next 5-10 years. Have to feel for her. Coleman had I think all of Britain pulling for that. Well deserved.

Green Book is a nice movie but Roma is art on the highest level. I get that a film like Roma is not everyone's speed but this is...I don't even know. Crazy sirens outside my window because a murder has been committed upon this news, i think.

How the hell does Sportsbook.ag know enough to drop Roma's odds from -450 to -150 and Green Book's odds go from +400 to +150 on day of the Oscars? That #### is supposedly sealed that line drop came out of nowhere. Thank god they only take bitcoin now or I would have lost max dollars. i'm still in shock. What an absolute ####### travesty.

I ate a tube of Thin Mints and had a six pack of Coors Light. I despise these shows and will hate myself in the morning, but sitting with my 14 year old daughter watching this was a ton of fun.

Was Big Funk in the In Memoriam section? As somebody who grew up idolizing Super Dave, that one stung a bit.
He was not, according to eonline.

Not included in the segment: Austin Powers actor Verne Troyer, who passed away at age 49 last April, Queen of Soul and Blues Brothers actress Aretha Franklin, who died at age 76 in August, Hello Dolly! star and comedienne Carol Channing, who died at age 97 in January, comedy star and Curb Your Enthusiasm actor Bob Einstein, who died at age 76 in January, actor **** Miller, who died at age 90 in January, and comedian and The Hangover actor Brody Stevens, who died at age 48 last week.

I guess push back against Netflix and maybe Shape of water winning just last year? What an absolute travesty.

Roma is an obvious all-time great film. Green Book is a solid movie with some solid performances. Come on.
Green book is a pretty good, small film  with roots in the most prestigious production company currently working and Roma is From the biggest threat to in theater movie business. I had this as chalk in my Oscar pool.

A year ago this time, my cousin was clearing mantle space for all the statues he'd be getting for his new film. Unfortunately for him, he picked the wrong moviebiz climate into which to introduce the whitest film of 2018, Mary Poppins Returns. I know Disney intends to make several more entries in the franchise - guess i should start writing Mariqua Ortiz-Poppins for Rob tonite.

This is worse than Brokeback/Crash. Worse than Cuba Gooding over Macy. I just can't believe it. Green Book wasn't even 2nd choice a little bit ago. Mueller next job is here.

Cuaron on live here holding his 3 trophies and looking stunned.

It's like this weird moment of push back against the sag strike failure of 2008/2009 which was all about future streaming content (Netflix) + push to make the oscars more inclusive (#oscarssowhite). That's my take.

Not sure what show u r watching.  Completely forgettable.
I agree. It was a boring show. I think a host would have made it much better.

Comedian Sebastian Menascolo (misplaced) joked on the red carpet beforehand that he was available to host. They should have let him, imo.

Eta: The few minutes when Tina McFey, Poehler, and Rudolph were on stage were the best of the night.
