The Rules (these are changing)

Pick one stock that you think can appreciate the most (EXCLUDING DIVIDENDS) in 2024. Starting stock price must be $5 or greater.

We'll take entries through Monday, January 1st; must be posted by midnight board time. Baseline will be close of market on 12/29/23, regardless of when the pick was submitted.

Foreign stocks okay if traded on US exchange (i.e.ADRs)

ETFs are not allowed. Only common stock.

NO Shorts (includes short ETFs)

No duplicates; FCFS

Please also consider sharing some thoughts/info on the stock.

Optional Bonus Question - Guess where the S&P 500 will finish the year. (I am not worrying about duplicates for this).

Welcome to the new contest. After some comments, I decided it was time to change things up a bit. Going back to an old fashion stock contest by removing ETFs, etc., so no picking commodities or crypto. Also going to eliminate the binary penny stocks. This should still leave us all with plenty of stocks with high return potential.

I'm going to go with Excelerate Energy (EE). Company had a nice earnings release with some new contracts signed. Hopefully thing continue to trend in the right direction. My only concern is energy markets in general. If the overall energy market cooperates, this stock might not embarrass me.

They're into AI analysis and training, focused on military and healthcare. CEO = pretty interesting guy too. It's the only individual stock I own - have all indexes otherwise.

S&P: 5150 (I suppose a Van Halen number is as good a guess as any).

Iovance Therapeutics (IOVA) - another biotech buyout candidate. No guess for S&P.

I'll play this year.
Going with RTX (RTX Corp), the aerospace and defense company that is a combination of the old UTC and Raytheon. They have a good mix between commercial and defense and I think both can shine this year, especially as I think we have a flatter year with more global conflict.

Don’t know too much about them, but they’re down on the year but got a little momentum at the end of 2023 with the announcement of a dividend.

A young company that went public in January 2022. $14.72 now, was $35.27 a year ago.
