The Rules

Pick one stock that you think can appreciate the most (EXCLUDING DIVIDENDS) in 2023.

We'll take entries through Monday, January 2nd; must be posted by midnight board time. Baseline will be close of market on 12/31/22, regardless of when the pick was submitted.

Foreign stocks okay if traded on US exchange (i.e.ADRs)

ETFs okay IF NOT LEVERAGED

NO Shorts (includes short ETFs)

No duplicates; FCFS

Please also consider sharing some thoughts/info on the stock.

Optional Bonus Question - Guess where the S&P 500 will finish the year. (I am not worrying about duplicates for this).

One day I'll go to the well once too often (pun intended), but I'm still a believer in a commodity supercycle. So, I'm sticking with Energy and going with another SMID Energy stock. This year's pick is Permian Resources Corp (PR).

S&P 500 - 3,700

I think we have a recession in 2023 with EPS declines. Market recovers by year-end but doesn't make it back to positive territory, Energy stock is risky, but I think supply/demand imbalances can support prices.

The good girls and the bad girls are all out on the street when the hotel catches fire. I foresee a big recovery for AMZN. I think they've been hammered down enough.
 
Gotta swing for the fences to break through the Bronze barrier I’ve hit twice. Torn between ICPT pharma which I’ve been pimping (and accumulating) for years. They’ve got some drugs in the pipeline but never hit the big one.

Instead, I’m shooting for maximum upside with old friend penny stock Dark Pulse (DPLS). I mean, it’s at a penny and could be a nickel. That should win this thing, right?

S&P ends slightly higher after a turbulent 2023: 3950
 
I'm new to this game, but I'll take Silvergate (SI) for a play on the staying power of crypto (whatever hasn't yet killed it has to make it stronger, yes?)

No good reason other than the fact that streaming/cord cutting will continue and I guess this is a good stock for that and because my 10 minutes of research dug that up :bowtie:

I think Coinbase is a no-brainer. Crypto market is down currently, but another bull market is coming. It may be a little early for the '23 contest. Bull market may be after that, but giving it a go.

You like coinbase over greyscale? I might. coinbase may be the last survivor if they didnt cheat like the others. I use them
