It sounds to me like the issue is with the lens if I had to guess. The aperture blades can stick in the lens sometimes causing problems. This could also just be the contact from the lens to the camera. You might try to clean both of the contacts to see if that helps. If that doesn't work and...

The way I make the corners darker (vignetting) is by first opening the image in PS bridge first. From here click the lens correction tab and use the post crop vignetting. You can also open PS and go to Filter>Distort>Lens Correction. There might be an easier way, but this is the best...
