☕️ Official Coffee: The Elixir of Life (1 Viewer)

I've grown to LOVE coffee. My mom always drank it a lot but I wasn't interested until I got older.

Some in my office still drink Folgers, which I think tastes like crap, so I grind beans for a separate pot each morning. I fill bags at the grocery store with chocolate caramel brownie and caramel creme. They used to sell chocolate raspberry which was very good.

My "cup" is huge and holds close to three cups. I usually drink about 8 - 10 cups a day.

What say you? Tell us about your relationship with coffee. Ahh...coffee.  :coffee:

home: we typically buy equator, a local brand that is starting to expand operations, not sure if they are national yet. we grind it in a ceramic burr grinder and brew it in a bonavita drip model.

work: they brew up peets in the large carafes, and sometimes have stumptown nitro cold brew on tap.

out at a cafe: i like espressos, americanos, cortados (think latte 50/50 milk espresso ratio) or just drip black, depending on mood

At home I use Eight o Clock hazelnut blend.  It's decent,  but not great.

At work they recently installed machines that grind the beans when you order,  and the coffee is really good.  The coffee brand is "Geoffrey's Donut Blend" I don't know what company makes it.

We also have a Starbucks in the lobby and I have to say,  the free coffee I get from the machine is much better than what I pay for from Starbucks.

So you still aren't interested in coffee?

My favorite is Kirkland's Pacific dark k cup.  If I drink more than 2 10oz cups, I'll be frazzled.

I started drinking coffee in college, with a little milk and some sugar or a Splenda type. The place I worked at only had that powdered creamer crap so I just started drinking it black. Haven't gone back to milk/cream since.

Real job post-college had a mix of K-cups and barely average brewed coffee from the pre-ground bags. It was fine enough for me because I was drinking probably 6 cups a day and didn't want to spend all that money outside. Current job has one of those brewed-to-order machines like someone mentioned above and it's really awesome.

At home we switched from pre-ground to grinding our own a few years ago and love it so much more. I'll buy it by the lb occasionally but we also just have the big containers of Trader Joe's French Roast or some other even darker variety of beans that we keep around. Now I probably drink 3 a day at home, 4 a day at work.

No jolts or rush for me. Just keeps me even.

I will take caffeine pills occasionally. I think they equal about 5 cups. I have found though the part of the caffeine addiction is actually the motion of drinking it.

Two 20 oz coffees is 8 cups.  I don't drink that much anymore, but there were times when I did.

I have essentially the same setup as snitwitch.  Burr grinder (Bodum), Bonavita certified drip machine.  Have a weekly subscription for beans from a local roaster.  I generally brew at least enough for a 20oz Contigo travel mug and maybe an extra 5 oz for cup before I leave.

Big fan.  Free coffee at work where it is basically "water cooler" sports talk most of the day.  Probably good for about 5 cups pre-noon and about 2 cups afternoon.

I only drink like 1 cup in the mornings on weekends though.

The "standard" is 6 oz, not 5 oz. Think most people think 8 oz when they call it a cup though.

you'd feel better after a cup of coffee  :coffee:
only thing I miss is the actual taste and physical act of drinking a good cup of coffee.  i have enough natural energy and zest for life to get by without the caffeine.

Chock Full of Nuts or Kirkland dark; whichever one is cheapest when I need a new can.
My best pal daily somehow converts Chock Full of Nuts into jet fuel with his ancient electric spit pot. The coffee doesn't taste particularly strong or anything but i'm a radioactive pinball for hours each time i have a cup. And, as a cokehead for two decades, it aint low tolerance on my part. Won't give out his secret, but his weekend band won't practice without a jug in em.

Drink 4 cups every morning.  Been drinking it cold with milk for about 6 months now,  Brew it at night and put it in the fridge.  Getting a 1000 mL cold brewer for Christmas, we'll see how that goes.

Single cup every morning is an absolute must, wake up 30 minutes early to do this. Maybe an americano in the afternoon if I need a little jolt or am out and about. Used to grind beans and make good stuff every morning but finally found some semi-decent K Cups.

Don't get people that don't like coffee. Weirdos.

I did k-cups for awhile, then went back to ground.  I've found a local roaster that makes super good single source guatemalan stuff grown by topless bikini models.

I use french press when I have time, but still just drip over paper when in a rush.  I need to try that gravity feed DIY beaker thing that is all the rage.

I'm mostly an espresso or americano person at home.  Usually drive to work drinking a tumbler of americano.  Have mid-morning and mid-afternoon cups of coffee from the office coffee machine, but rarely finish either because the coffee is not good.  Often have a cup of espresso when I get home from work, and always have an afternoon espresso on the weekends.  All black; no cream or sugar.

I like the taste of the flavored coffees. I understand they're not the stuff for true coffee snobs. But do you have the same disdain for people who make "good" coffee but fill it with flavored creams and sugars?

I do enjoy different black coffees when I get the chance. What is recommended to bring my palate to a higher level?

Motor Oil Thick Percolated with a dash of sugar. I think they get Folgers dark roast here. For bulk daily office coffee I'm good with anything that's strong and not flavored.

Someone brought in some french vanilla bull#### a couple weeks ago and the outrage was so bad that nobody ever had the balls to own up to it.

Yes, but it has nothing to do with being a coffee snob.  You can't say "i love coffee" if what you're drinking is a hot chocolate raspberry flavored drink, because it doesn't taste like coffee. FWIW, I have the same disdain for people who love filet mignon, as long as it's well-done and covered with A-1 Sauce.
