5-ish Finkle

Moar defense!
I see this in a Wexell retweet and think sounds like 5-ish. Sure enough.I've been mentioning he's short for three months. It does not matter. All he does is makes plays.
Love it. Guys is a baller. It's that simple.
Couldn't be happier with how this has went so far considering how board fell. Was convinced Ravens had dealt up to grab him.
Good to hear that Kiper said that about the pick! Great draft thus far for the Steelers then. Dupree putting the heat on QBs, and Golson waiting to intercept the resulting desperation passes=winning formula!!KiperOk, I will be the first to mention Golson's short stature. Surely we will hear all of the naysayers and critics mention this. I don't know much about the kid. If he can cover and grab some ints, then I guess he's better than a taller CB with hands of stone eh?was wild about him. Saying he thought he may be the absolute best pick in the first two rounds.
Me too, esp considering some were thinking he was a late 1st/early 2nd pick. Not really a "need" now..and gone. F you 9ers!I like Harold. I know a lot of folks probably don't. Can go get the QB.
Not sure either Bell is worth a pick in the 3rd.They have nothing at the 4th receiver and they do run some 4 wide. BPA on their board is my guess.A wide receiver? That is the one position we are extremely strong on![]()
As you said they needed a fourth wideout so I don't have a problem with it. Certainly don't want DHB out there and if there is one position the Steelers know how to scout it is WR.They have nothing at the 4th receiver and they do run some 4 wide. The bolded is the only reason I'm "meh" on this and not a little more underwhelmed. Cuz to me Coates looks a hell of a lot like DHB: Deep threat who has alligator arms. I absolutely don't have a problem with them going with a WR. They are NOT deep there, their top guy is awesome and the 2 and 3 have potential, but after that they have a punt gunner and a couple of warm bodies on the PS.As you said they needed a fourth wideout so I don't have a problem with it. He's definitely got 1st round talent. I loved him for the Steelers until he got hurt. Even if he can't play this year, I'd have spent a day 3 pick on him with an eye toward the future. I'm sure he's been thoroughly vetted by the doctors, but if the report I read on his knee is accurate, I can't see him getting drafted before the 6th round supplementals at best. Sucks for the guy, he's a very good corner. Thanks EG. I thought Ifo was a probable 1st round talent looking to come back this year. If it's more of a Shamarko time table, it is hard to burn a valuable roster spot let alone a draft pick.Ifo may never play again. I read that his knee injury is more Lattimore than it is Gurley. Nobody's rolling the dice on that until MAYBE the 7th round.Williams trade up sounds like smoke. Pgh needs a TE of the future, but it's hard to believe moving up to 2.1 will be worth it. The ONLY way this could happen is if Colbert has identified players who won't be drafted who can start at CB.
Speaking of CB - I'm partial to Darby, Ifo and Kevin White. Haven't seen love for the Ifo,
He's TO without the attitude (hopefully) but has inconsistent hands. Fix the drops and he could be a beast. Daniel Jeremiah says TO's body, Odell Beckham's burst, DHB's hands.Yeah that is the same with me. If we wouldn't have drafted a corner in the 2nd round and THEN drafted a wide receiver then I would have been really pissed. But at least they did address a serious need hopefully.
The Heyward-Bey comparison seems solid unfortunately. Maybe a faster version of Braylon Edwards although there is nothing that makes me think he is as dumb off the field as him
I'm taking him in the 4th. No way he lasts much past there unless there's solid info that he won't return to form. Risk/reward is there. He's definitely got 1st round talent. Super raw.Don't know anything about this dl they took but the writeup on the NFL mobile app looks promising.
I'm not sure Dupree visited although they had dinner with him at the Kentucky pro day, I think.TE, OL, DE would make for a pretty good final part of the draft.
And Denver just took 1 of the OL Steelers had visited.
Yeah, I'm going by the steelersdepot.com list of "visits" which was official visits, local visits, and the pro day dinner sort of thing.I'm not sure Dupree visited although they had dinner with him at the Kentucky pro day, I think.TE, OL, DE would make for a pretty good final part of the draft.

"(Chickillo was) playing in a scheme that didnt fit what he was set to do well in," McShay said."He's a talented prospect.Really like that supp pick
Huge developmental project tackling though.Nice to have db's that can catch the football

Gerod Holliman led NCAA with 14 INTs last season. Golson was second in NCAA with 10 INTs.
Ravens fan chiming in here and I couldn't agree more. There's a reason why teams like the Stillers, Pats, Ravens, and Pack draft in the back half of each round most years - they draft good players and let the chips fall where they may.I'm amazed that people who write stuff like : "The Steelers have secondary needs.... so naturally, they draft a linebacker" actually get paid to offer their opinions.
Yes, the most glaring need is secondary, and yes Polamalu's retirement is fresh in your mind. So naturally, any non-DB pick is dog ####, right? Never mind that pass rush is (at BEST) need 1B, that the quality of the pass rush and that of the secondary are inextricably linked, that value supercedes need in the draft for smart franchises/GMs, and that the Steelers have a proven track record of going BPA, sometimes almost to a fault, in the past.
Not a corner or safety? Give the pick a C- and say they should have taken a redundant (though good) player like Landon Collins who wouldn't help the team this year just because you saw him in most of the first round mocks you read. These are PROFESSIONAL reporters. Unreal.
ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay said that Holliman "chooses when to get involved in the running game, which I and many teams apparently don't like." Mel Kiper said that hopefully "wearing the Steelers helmet will rub off on Holliman" in regards to being a better player against the run.MAC_32 said:Huge developmental project tackling though.3C said:Nice to have db's that can catch the football

Great hands! The tape I saw of Holliman showed excellent anticipation and awareness as a pass defender. When called upon for run support (play design), he did better than expected with all of the negative reviews. He would often find himself out of position to stop the run when he played in coverage. Holliman will have to be more aware in run support to make it in the NFL. He didn't flash the best speed, but more than made up for it by being in perfect position to defend passes.ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay said that Holliman "chooses when to get involved in the running game, which I and many teams apparently don't like." Given the choice between a DB who can makes plays on the ball or is a tackling machine, I'll take the former. Of course I say that now but if he starts missing tackles my tune may change. I do like that Bucky Brooks compared him to a young Ed Reed though.
Reminds me of Wallace coming out of college, only bigger and stronger and not quite as fast. Both had the same strengths/weaknesses coming out of school, exceptional straight line speed and questionable route running and hands. If he can develop his game, he could replace Wheaton in a year or two if Wheaton never makes the leap. He could be absolutely lethal in this offense.I was pounding my fist yesterday for Ifo in the 5th but I guess that knee is really jacked if he fell from the 1st (presumably) to the 7th.
I like the Jesse James pick. Someone said he is Spaeth 2.0 which is false. He's a pretty good receiving TE who needs to work on his blocking. He has plenty of room for development as well IMO. This was a real weak TE class but he was probably top 5.
Im kind of 50/50 on the Coates pick. I dont hate that the Stillers took a WR in the 3rd, but Coates strikes me as a very similar WR to Martavis, but with worse hands, and possibly needs to work on his route tree even more. My cousin's brother in law - John Lowdermilk, Iowa DB - apparently was training with Coates and said he's a freak, which is apparent. He strikes me as too much of a one trick pony but of course he could become more.
The Steelers and Ravens both garnered A-minus draft grades from sunglass-stylin’ Mel Kiper, two of five teams in the A range for work in this week’s three-day, seven-round event.
The Redskins, Jets and Seahawks joined the AFC North leaders in the A-minus group.
