And another great display in use of the play clock & timeouts. No chance of coming back because they burn 2 early.
Agreed, with Ben back and hopefully most of our starting D in I think we have a good shot. If Gay and Tuitt are out, I'm a bit more worried. But Ben can cover for some bad Defense. If we put up 30 pts I think we win.Evilgrin 72 said:This game next week is basically the division title game for Cincy. They win and they have a 3 1/2 game lead on the division at the halfway mark - they're basically on cruise control. 5-4 over their last nine locks it up for them if they win Sunday. If we win, we're 5-3 to their 6-1, only a game and a half back with the tiebreaker in hand. Anyone's ball game at that point and would make the week 14 matchup in Cincinnati an enormous one.
Agreed. I am worried about Villaneuva on Ben's blind side. Ben's going to have to get rid of it quick cause the Bengals can bring the pressure.I'm very nervous about this game. I don't think Ben will be anywhere near 100% and it might be a difficult to shake off the rust against a defense that can get pressure. The secondary is also depleted and Dalton and those receivers should have a field day. Not sure an injured, rusty Ben can put up 30 in his first game back but even if he does, that still may not be enough.
This, 100%. Unless they start jamming at the line and putting shazier on TEs instead of Timmons, we're going to get owned by them.Agreed. I am worried about Villaneuva on Ben's blind side. If Tuitt can come back that will compensate a little for the potentially depleted secondary. Tyler Eifert should have a field day though.
He's playing.Surprised this thread fell all the way to page 4. Bumping for the local news on Ben. Any chance he doesn't play? What's the word?
Ugh. Perhaps more importantly, their run defense takes a big hit without Tuitt in the game. He's playing.Surprised this thread fell all the way to page 4. Bumping for the local news on Ben. Any chance he doesn't play? What's the word?
The bigger issue is that Stephon Tuitt hasn't practiced this week and if he doesn't practice today will likely not play. The Steelers are going to need to generate some pressure on Dalton and that will be tough without Tuitt in there.
One could argue he did so with Landry Jones' insertion to the starting lineup. 19 pts in PPR last week.Antonio Brown had better return to uber stud with Ben's return
that was my thinking, which is why i upgraded from ODBjr to himOne could argue he did so with Landry Jones' insertion to the starting lineup. 19 pts in PPR last week.Antonio Brown had better return to uber stud with Ben's return
ETA : On pace for 105-1,534-5 even with ~40-45% of his snaps this season with Michael Vick at QB. Things are only looking up from there.
His pace this season if you extrapolate only the games Roethlisberger started (this includes the St. Louis game in which the last quarter and a half was played with Vick under center):that was my thinking, which is why i upgraded from ODBjr to himOne could argue he did so with Landry Jones' insertion to the starting lineup. 19 pts in PPR last week.Antonio Brown had better return to uber stud with Ben's return

Please Lord.He was right with Ben, hopefully right here.
Dr Chao on twitter: Le'Veon Bell @steelers with significant R knee injury. Will miss multiple wks but doubt season over. Expecting ACL spared. #FingersCrossed
Not sure it matters. At QB, they can afford a guy losing some mobility. At RB, that would be devastating. He was right with Ben, hopefully right here.

Unlike last year though, we have a very, very capable backupNot sure it matters. At QB, they can afford a guy losing some mobility. At RB, that would be devastating. He was right with Ben, hopefully right here.

Well it seems like some in here are throwing in the towel at even a playoff run. Just taking a look at the AFC, I think they have a legitimate shot to get in. If Ben looks as gimpy as he did today, yeah I don't see a superbowl run. However, his first game back in a month was against an undefeated team and the Steelers still almost won the game. Yeah right now they can't beat the Patriots but they can beat anyone else in the AFC. Who knows -- perhaps the Patriots will have to deal with a crippling injurynot the standard
He was right on ACL, but wrong on severity of the MCL.He was right with Ben, hopefully right here.

A win against a pretty good Oakland team next week would be a nice start. So there's going to be 2 camps, our season is done! Or, we'll rally around all our losses to make a strong finish to the season!
I'm optimistically hoping for camp 2 to be true. We've had so many losses so far this year, if we can rally and win the next 2 going into the bye, I think we have a good shot. Williams isn't as good as Bell, but he is a good back. We have 2 awesome WRs, and if Ben can get healthy and shake off the rust, we always have a shot. Also, our Defense has been playing much, much better than anyone expected.
At this point I'm hoping for 10-6, but thinking we make 9-7 and sneak into the wild card. Most AFC teams are playing poorly so far this year so we might be able to sneak in if we stop losing to AFC teams.
Certain to change...but if it doesn't maybe Archer will get some PT and quiet the cut Dri chants.Godsbrother said:Here is some news that is sure to make Steelers fans feel better:
The depth chart on Steelers.com has Dri Archer listed as the #2 RB behind Williams.![]()
Todman is third and Pead is currently not listed on the depth chart.
A really big game. If it comes down to tiebreakers for a wildcard, these games against the AFC West could mean everything. Getting a W over San Diego was nice, but they look like they're fading out of the picture. A win over Oakland would at least give us a little clarity on whom to root for in the Oakland/KC games later in the year. With all of the bad injuries the Steelers have had this season there may be a little good news this week: Stephon Tuitt and Will Allen are supposed to return to practice today. Mike Mitchell is going through concussion protocol but from what I have heard the expectation is that he will be cleared to play.
Also heard that Bell did not suffer any damage to the ACL and there is a chance he won't need surgery on his MCL which should shorten his rehab in the offseason.
Hopefully Ben has shaken the rust off because this is a big game...
