With all of the bad injuries the Steelers have had this season there may be a little good news this week: Stephon Tuitt and Will Allen are supposed to return to practice today. Mike Mitchell is going through concussion protocol but from what I have heard the expectation is that he will be cleared to play.

Also heard that Bell did not suffer any damage to the ACL and there is a chance he won't need surgery on his MCL which should shorten his rehab in the offseason.

Hopefully Ben has shaken the rust off because this is a big game...
A really big game. If it comes down to tiebreakers for a wildcard, these games against the AFC West could mean everything. Getting a W over San Diego was nice, but they look like they're fading out of the picture. A win over Oakland would at least give us a little clarity on whom to root for in the Oakland/KC games later in the year.
The Steelers conference record is 1-4 compared to Oakland's 4-2. A head-to-head win would be huge.

Doran Grant promoted from practice squad. Everyone in here knows I like this kid, will be interested to see if he gets some snaps. He's not very big or very fast, so I do think he may get victimized from time to time by bigger or more athletic receivers, but I really liked his positioning and instincts in the preseason. He strikes me as a kid who just "gets" the game of football.

Jones is a great kickoff returner. Too bad it's such a lost part of the game.

I'll be curious to see who signs Archer. He'd better not blow up on someone else's roster.

I hope Archer is a lesson to Colbert. What a waste. There was so much talent in that draft. Bryant makes up for it but I remember that being a pretty decent DB class as well.

He's among the better returners playing, but be prepared to sometimes wish bad things upon he and his descendants. He will make some head-scratchingly dumb decisions. IIRC, he cost the Texans a playoff game against the Ravens the year before he became Baltimore's darling during their SB run.

Good news--Cam Heyward's baby was born yesterday, so he won't be missing today's game for the birth. No word on what type of metal the baby's head is.

Two weeks in a row our defense has failed us when it matters. More importantly our linebackers who have no business trying to cover a receiver with any level of speed.

Hopefully Tomlin's clock management today isn't the same as the rest of career

Lisfranc is my guess. Left the stadium for further evaluation. If it was just broken metatarsals they would have seen that right away on X-ray. I expect season ender or 4 weeks and he comes back in a very stiff boot. Either way, if Ben misses another month, this season is over. I was already wishing they would have blown this game to better their draft position.

So sad. I though they had a legit shot at a title this year. Snakebit has been said a lot in this thread and it fits. :topcat:

I think Ben's ankle is busted, out 8 weeks. It's the Landry Jones show from here on out. Hopefully I am wrong but that's my guess.

ETA: just heard xrays were negative so maybe not so bad....

Ugh I hope you're wrong. This was so huge to pull off this win. Need some good news for a change.

Agree. I knew this would be a dogfight of a game. Big win, but if Ben was injured as bad as I fear he was . . . The winner of this game was a wildcard team IMO. That was the win we needed. :kicksrock:

Please, oh PLEASE don't blow the Browns game. Nobody plays to the level of their competition like the Steelers. Can we just limp through a couple weeks scraping up a win against a JV squad? Can we just NOT screw this up? :tebow: PaaWeeeese!?

On NBC after the Sunday night game, they just said "best case scenario at least 3 weeks"? WTF?
It will be at least 2 weeks off, Browns and bye. Past that no one knows yet.

Not the way I would have wanted it but with all these injuries and still in the playoff mix it's nice that Jones is getting all this experience. If Grads can't or doesn't come back we can feel reasonably good about the backup.

Agreed. We CANNOT afford a loss to the Browns at home.

I truly believe if the Steelers could have ever been 100% this season, they'd be 8-1, or 7-2.

Why Mike Tomlin made fun of that gypsy woman before the season, I'll never know.

If the Steelers offense remained 100% healthy this year, I'm convinced they would be playing in Foxboro in January for the AFC championship game. I think they'd have a decent shot of winning that game as well. However, this season seems to be cursed.

As the old crone shuffled past him, a barely-audible "injuries" passed her lips.

Funny thing is I didn't realize either of them played any offensive snaps.

Dri Archer played in only 3 offensive snaps for the Steelers this year or the same amount as Lawrence Timmons.

Oh, and according to PFT Dri turned down practice squad offers from 10 teams, including the Steelers.

gotta love Ben

Ben Roethlisberger (foot) refused to rule himself out for Week 10 against the Browns.
"The bye will come at a good time, but I’m not even going to rule myself out this week," Roethlisberger said. "I’m going to take it one day at a time."

Lots of ok vets on the market right now if they want to bring someone in. Pierre Thomas, Jonas Gray and Turbin all cut. Honestly I wouldn't care if they gave Ray Rice a workout. He's paid his price 10 fold over any other player that's ever been punished.
