Per Lolley, Worilds knee is "likely a bruise" and Spence has a minor PCL issue with his right knee (his left knee is the one he ripped to shreds in 2012). "PCL injuries usually just require rest"

The Eagles tore apart the Patriots also, despite their talented defense. The results last night could easily say more about Philadelphia's offense than Pittsburgh's defense.
Didnt some of the Pats D starters not even play? I only see 1 tackle for guys like McCourty, Browner, Hightower, Chung, and everyone with more than 2 tackles is a bunch of no-names (only exception Arrington). Plus Im not so sure Philly's offense "tore apart" the Pats considering Foles only had 81yds passing, McCoy 19yds rushing, and they didnt score a TD until 3 minutes left in the 2nd quarter.

So good to hear. He's come so far would hate for that to be how it ends.

Bouchette q&a:

--- YOU: Based on what you observed over the last few years, and whatever statistics you can recall, who's the better QB: Landry Jones or Dennis Dixon?

ED: Dennis Dixon, easily.

Guess who is available as of today?

Steelers cuts coming in. Surprise to me is So'oto. Dangerfield cut too. Thought he might be a PS player. Waters as well. I think he's better than the draft pick Blanchflower.

Steelers Cut 9 Players, 6 More Expected TuesdayAugust 26, 2014 9:25 AM

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Pittsburgh Steelers cut nine players from the roster Tuesday morning and more cuts are expected.

According to a statement from the team, running backs Jordan Hall and Miguel Maysonet, wide receivers C.J. Goodwin and Kashif Moore, tight end Eric Waters, safety Jordan Dangerfield, cornerbacks Devin Smith and Lewis Toler, and linebacker Vic So’oto were all released.

As a result of these cuts, the Steelers’ roster is at 81 players.

Six more cuts will be made today as NFL teams have until 4 p.m. to reduce their roster size to 75 players.

The Steelers have until 4 p.m. Saturday to reduce the roster to 53 players.
No big surprises

If playing starters in game 4 of preseason is punishment then the Bell/Blount punishment continues. Tomlin says they'll play.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Breaking down snaps played by Patriots defenders in Friday's preseason game against the Eagles:

DEFENSIVE LINE:

Marcus Forston -- 37 of 62

Joe Vellano -- 32 of 62

Zach Moore -- 28 of 62

Will Smith -- 24 of 62

Vince Wilfork -- 18 of 62

L.T. Tuipulotu -- 17 of 62

Tommy Kelly -- 15 of 62

Eathyn Manumaleuna -- 11 of 62

Quick-hit thought: The top trio was Kelly, Wilfork and Vellano, with veteran Will Smith coming on as the fourth option in nickel. This group is a bit thin without the injured Chris Jones and Sealver Siliga, and that's why the Patriots acquired Jerel Worthy and Ben Bass in two trades last week.

OUTSIDE LINEBACKER:

Darius Fleming -- 40 of 62

Jake Bequette -- 34 of 62

Chandler Jones -- 18 of 62

Rob Ninkovich -- 18 of 62

Michael Buchanan -- 11 of 62

Quick-hit thought: Jones and Ninkovich played for the first time this preseason, starting the game, and then it was a chance to take a long look at Fleming and Bequette. The Patriots' 2012 third-round draft choice, Bequette didn't register on the stat sheet.

INSIDE LINEBACKER:

Chris White -- 28 of 62

Steve Beauharnais -- 28 of 62

Dont'a Hightower -- 19 of 62

Jamie Collins -- 18 of 62

James Morris -- 13 of 62

Deontae Skinner -- 6 of 62

Quick-hit thought: With Jerod Mayo and James Anderson not dressed for the game, the depth at this spot behind Hightower and Collins was exposed a bit.

CORNERBACK:

Malcolm Butler -- 49 of 62

Brandon Browner -- 25 of 62

Daxton Swanson -- 13 of 62

Darrelle Revis -- 12 of 62

Quick-hit thought: The numbers tell the story -- Butler has the coaching staff intrigued to the point that it wants to see more. No defensive player has been on for more snaps than the undrafted free agent from West Alabama over the first two preseason games (113 of 135). The versatility of Logan Ryan showed up, too, as he played corner and safety in this game (he's listed as a safety).

SAFETY:

Logan Ryan -- 33 of 62

Nate Ebner -- 26 of 62

Jemea Thomas -- 23 of 62

Duron Harmon -- 19 of 62

Kyle Arrington -- 14 of 62

Devin McCourty -- 14 of 62

Shamiel Gary -- 13 of 62

Travis Hawkins -- 13 of 62

Patrick Chung -- 12 of 62

Quick-hit thought: A new look for the defense when Arrington and Ryan are playing safety instead of corner, which was one of the more notable takeaways on defense. Ebner, a core special-teamer, flashed as well. Third-year player Tavon Wilson was among the injured players who didn't suit up and after seeing so many players worked into the mix, it makes one wonder about the security of his roster spot.

This is stupid. They already almost lost Spence and Worilds. I know they don't want to start out like last year but work out the kinks in practice.

Worilds should be fine. Spence is only a few weeks. Agree though that it's a risk.

Tomlin says anyone who needs work will play. After last week that's almost everyone. :D Landry Jones gonna get a lot of work.

On another note, they still haven't announced the final 6 cuts with less than an hour to go. Seems strange.

From Steelers.com

"The Steelers got down to the mandatory 75-man roster on Tuesday. The Steelers have trimmed their roster to the league-mandated 75 players prior to today’s deadline, the team announced.

The Steelers have released offensive linemen Chris Elkins and Emmanuel McCray, defensive linemen Hebron Fangupo and Brian Arnfelt, long snapper Luke Ingram and running back Tauren Poole.

Pittsburgh must reduce its roster to 53 players by Saturday at 4 p.m."

With Fangupo being cut, looks like McCullers is going to make the team.

Yeah I had read that McCullers has "dominating moments" and then one of the coaches backed that by saying something about "dominating moments often win games."

Cant say Im surprised by any cut thus far
I'm a little surprised that Poole didn't at least make the first cut. By my count they have 5 RBs, 6 if you want to include Archer. Assuming they don't consider Archer a real RB and they keep FB Will Johson will they keep one more back? If so the battle will come down to either Josh Harris or Stephen Houston.

Does anyone have a strong opinion on either one?

I think it will be 4 rb's including Johnson. No others are worth keeping on the active roster.

I don't know but it seems like Bell, Blount, Johnson and Archer is leaving the team pretty thin at RB, especially considering that much/most of the time Archer will be lining up at WR.

I guess I will wait until tomorrow morning when the game is on the Network but does it look as horrible as it does in highlights and the Red Zone channel shows it. :scared:

He does Justin Brown look this preseason? Just a body, or legitimate potential? Just about the only WR with size on the roster, tight?

Brown may or may not make the team..the WR of the future with size at this point is Martavis Bryant.
Brown had a good camp and has performed well in games (backups qbs haven't helped). He blocks well, plays all WR positions and plays special teams. The late push from DHB has put Brown making the 53 in a bit of jeopardy. If they keep 6 Brown definitely makes it. I think they should keep 6. Bryant has done nothing thus far to warrant being ahead of Brown but his draft position saves him. Bryant injury last night could keep him out a while and influence the 5 or 6 decision.

It was the 4th preseason game. Utterly meaningless.......
It was pretty ugly though. Still can't stop the run. Jarvis flashed some though which is encouraging.

I honestly have no idea what they see in Landry Jones.

If anything, a performance like that ought to make the final round of cuts a little easier/more pleasant for the coaches.

Agree. I realize it takes qb's time but this is silly. Maybe they're afraid he'll be picked up elsewhere and share his knowledge of the playbook. I think they should release him and take their chances. Sign him to the PS if he clears waivers.

Steelers have acquired corner B.W. Webb who was waived by Dallas. Im not so sure it's a good thing to get players who couldn't make it in the Cowboy's secondary

DL Hemer, Philon, Mauro, Williams, LBs Carter, Molls and Jones, QB Kay, WRs Derek Moye and Sampson, OL Pocic, Simmons and Whimper.

Dammit, no QB Jones on the list.

ETA: yet

Carter getting cut had the writing on the wall with all the other LBs playing so well.

Hopefully they bring The Big Legursky back to da Burgh
