10-6 teams missing the playoffs (1 Viewer)

CLE did it this year, but my gut says that it hasn't happened very often. Seems if you get to 10 wins, you are usually in the playoffs. Anyone have anything about how many times a 10-6 (or better) team has missed the playoffs?

Miami missed out a few years ago to Cleveland
I beleive Denver was 11-5, I missed out one year.
Yup, 1985. Back then there were 3 division winners and 2 wildcards in each conference. Miami won the AFCE at 12-4, the Jets and Pats took the wildcard spots at 11-5. Denver missed out on a tiebreaker.I remember the 1986 Bengals and Seahawks missed out at 10-6. Lost tiebreakers to the Jets and Chiefs. The Seahawks were a skitzo team. Started off looking like Super Bowl champs, then went into a major tailspin, then finished looking like Super Bowl champs again. If they made the playoffs, there was a good chance they would have made the Super Bowl (they destroyed Denver in their finale, a game Denver needed to win HFA) and may have even won it (they handed the Giants one of their two losses that year).

By my quick count, 78 of the 93 10-6 teams in history have made the playoffs. I guess that means 15 is the answer.

67 of 68 11-5 teams made it.
