10 out of 14 teams used DD yesterday. (1 Viewer)

Da Guru

Fair & Balanced
I drafted in 14 team league where 10 out of 14 teams used the DD.

I could predict for rounds in advance what was going to happen. It was better when I was the only one using it.

Thats where tweaking your own projections would become invaluable... while everyone else is going off of the stock rankings, you would be able to get your own valuations... Hell, even run to copies of DD.. one with the "stock" projections, and one with your projections..

Also, this is when the custom dropoff is invaluable.

When you know exactly what is going to happen, you can see exactly where the best VBD play is, and go from there. Combined with your own rankings, it's really, really easy.

We are down to only one of those guys left in my big money/friends league. :bye:
Our last one dropped out this year (after 5 yrs or so of finishing at the bottom), but so far I have been able conceal FBG from the rest.

Easy perhaps, but not as much fun as drafting against 'magazine guy!'
Actually I think it is MUCH more fun drafting against sharks, than guppies. Playing in the home run derby against the 7th grade girls got old years ago....

Yes it's MUCH more fun against sharks. They now seem to download an application and stop thinking.
:banned: Ten years from now, 12 copies of DD will play in their own league, with a new "Message Board" application automatically posting jokes, criticisms and WDIS threads at FBG. Their human caretakers (slaves) will keep them running smoothly and make space for any trophies. Occasionally, as a reward, the programs will allow the humans to make a late selection in a draft, and they will rejoice at this amazing opportunity. In secret, the humans will talk about forming their own league one day and testing each other's knowledge in a competitive format. But they'll be half-joking, of course.

 :goodposting: :lmao:Too true. Too true.I worry about not thinking, but I don't think it will happen this year. I like the draft too much to have a machine do it for me.Draft is tonight and I will likely be the only DD there.

The first rule of FBGs is you DO NOT TALK ABOUT FBGs!!!!

I never did..but at live drafts guys were snooping around because I was not writing anything down..just clicking my mouse.I tried to hide it as long as I could. Only three teams used it last year..now ten.

I nearly choked when I saw that our champion last year (who beat me because of Ron F'ing Dayne) had a FBG spreadsheet. Luckily he just bought it and from what I can tell hasn't joined the forums or subscribed. (He had an out of date copy).

Personally I rarely just blindly pick the top guy on my DD, and I definitely tweak projections. I love it as a guide to easily see who has what already (and where strenghts lie so I can predict what direction they might go with their next pick), and where the dropoffs are.

There was one guy at my draft last weekend who was bragging about using the DD. This is the same guy who used to use another site, then tell everyone he was using it, and who that site's "Bust of the Year" and "Breakout Player of the Year" were. Uhhh...why pay for the site if you're going to give this information to everyone else? Basically this year I was calling his picks, because he was going right off the stock rankings.I also noticed about 5 other FBGs in this 12-team league (either seen using DD on their laptops or w/ FBG printed sheets), so it was at least 7/12 FBGs. But I guess you could consider that one guy a half FBG/half guppy.

A guy sat next to me on Saturday with DD. Says to me "It's so nice having DD huh, just download and draft." I agreed and proceeded to nab almost every player I targeted. Combining him with, the 4 magazine guys, 2 sporting news guys, an ESPNer, and a cbssportsline (Its amazing to me that guys will leave their stuff spread out on a table for every one to see) I knew where almost every player would go. I could only hope my whole league used it. If DD is not customized and if you don't know how to use it, you may as well be magazine guy. At $250 to play you would think there would be less magazines. Quite a few people with laptops that where checking out player news only.

Yeah, just using the DD is plain Gay. IF you believe you have enough football knowledge draft your team yourself, don't use some application to do it for you.

I dunno about the rest of you, but I would get no satisfaction by letting my team be drafted by "Draft Dominator."

The DD is to be used as a tool..not a bible.

You think you're nervous about your league mates discovering FBGs?Try being the guy who writes the Drafting With Guppies article each year.
