Not exactly the same situation...but I recently had my 10 team PPR draft and I did something I've never done - I took something other than an RB in the first round.
Like I said it's a PPR (1 pointer per) league (6pt td rush/rec and 4 pass) and I was drafting 7th...no man's land. We start 2 RB's, 2 WR's and one flex. As you can guess the first 6 picks were running backs so I took Moss at 7 and got lucky that it spurned a WR run behind me as Portis made it back in the 2nd. Here is what my team ended up looking like...
QB- Hasslebeck, Garrard
RB- Portis, Bush, Kevin Smith, Chris Perry, Kenny Watson
WR-Moss, Holt, Brandon Marshall, Marvin Harrison
TE - Gates, Scheffler
Def/ST - Bears (defensive/special teams TD's are worth 10 points in this league so I'm basically drafting Hester here)
I was very happy with this draft. I got lucky in that this draft occurred before the talk of a reduction to Marshall's suspension as well as Gates injury status still being up in the air. I got Marshall in the 5th and Gates in the 6th which probably normally wouldn't happen.
My point is....I think after the top 5 RB's I'd start considering Moss if it's a PPR. There's good value in the 3rd round at RB and having dominant pass catchers can give you a huge advantage.
