10 versus 12 team leagues. (1 Viewer)

I've only played in 10 team leagues but have the chance to add 2 managers to an extremely competitive league.

I'd love some input from those of you who play in both. Do you have a preference and/or would you share some reasoning behind that preference.

The 10 teamer has been together for 8 years and I'm not sure everyone will be down for adding new people, I might need a selling point or two.

Thanks fellas.

This year I will only be playing in 2 leagues. One is a 10 teamer, the other a 12 teamer. I like them both a lot. The bottom line is, the talent will be spread out a bit more in a 12 teamer. And I think as you get to later rounds, it shows who did their homework.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again. FF leagues are more about whos in the league than the other details. IMO, you can have perfect rules, perfect amount of teams, but if you have a bunch of tools, it doesnt matter. Or, if you have a bunch of owners who just plug in a lineup every week without interaction, booooooring! With that said, I would not want to be in a league smaller than 10 teams or a league larger than 12 teams.

So, the main thing is, making sure the guys you add are right for your long standing league.

Some selling points might be, more money for the pot, more guys to talk smack to.

assuming you play with somewhat conventional rosters, there are probably a couple main differences -- scarcity at wr/rb which you can tweak via roster req's, and scarcity at unique positions like qb and te, which you just have to plan around.

I prefer 12 team leagues because as a previous poster mentioned, the talent spreads out in the later rounds and those who do their homework are more likely to win. 10 teams seem to have more of a luck factor since most teams are pretty stacked.

Personally, I have found I am more successful in 12 teamers versus 10 teamer...the only way that I think this could be the case is that the 10 teamers tend to be a little more about luck because everyone can field a decent team. Now if you really don't want to expand, you can always add more starting spots (i.e. like two flexs) and that would get you a little closer to a 12 team league. The other thing you can do is increase bench size...I was in a 10 teamer with small benches, and there were too many quality guys on the WW each week for my liking.
