Been a long time coming....

IRVING, Texas - With the Cowboys aiming for a potential Super Bowl appearance, it's only fitting the club has the most Pro Bowl players since the 1990s dynasty.

Through a list compiled by the players, Cowboys will send a franchise-record tying 11 players to Hawaii, including seven starters - offensive linemen Flozell Adams, Leonard Davis and Andre Gurode; tight end Jason Witten; wide receiver Terrell Owens; outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware; and kicker Nick Folk, the first Cowboys rookie since 1990 to make the NFC squad.

Other selections include quarterback Tony Romo, running back Marion Barber, safety Ken Hamlin and cornerback Terence Newman.

Safety Roy Williams did not make the NFC squad, snapping his four-year streak of Pro Bowl selections. Williams also received a one-game NFL suspension for Sunday's illegal "horse-collar" tackle, though Pro Bowl voting had ended last week.

Linebacker Greg Ellis also was a notable ommission. The 10th-year veteran, who leads the Cowboys with 11.5 sacks in 11 games, still has yet to make the Pro Bowl.

The AFC and NFC squads officially will be announced at 3 p.m. (CST) on a special selection show on NFL Network.

The Cowboys' offensive selections come as no surprise, considering the unit ranks second in scoring (30.6) and total offense (378.5) through 14 games. Romo owns the NFC's highest passer rating (101.0) with 3,868 yards, 35 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. Witten leads all receivers with a career-high 88 catches for 1,068 yards, making him just the 13th tight end in league history to top 1,000 yards.

And Owens is having perhaps the best overall season of his 13-year career. He leads the conference with 1,307 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns.

This is like the Phillies sending 4 NL starters to the All Star game.

Congrats for being the best team in a second rate conferences

Marion Barber? Really? Interesting selection. I figure Peterson and Westbrook are a shoe ins. Well, I guess after those two it is a drop off, so Barber is probably the right choice for the 3rd RB.

Edit to add, Congrats to Jason Witten. VERY well deserved.

I'd put Portis ahead of Barber. Graham and Grant probably should rank ahead of him too given how they've done quite a bit in less time (probably worked against them both, though). Gore and Jackson likely lost out due to injuries but both are better than Barber. Again, I like Barber a lot but no way is he a Pro Bowl RB.Edited to add - I agree about Witten. I think he's the best TE in the game right now.

We'll see how second rate the NFC is come February. All it takes is one loss..remember that.
:confused:The Cowgirls nearly got doubled up by the Pats and just lost to the Friggin Eagles. They are the kings of the NFC (with Green Bay breathing down their necks) but they lose at least 9 or 10 vs the Patriots if the play a dozen.

Snapping, well there's an appropriate choice of words!!!!

Not even sure they're kings of the NFC anymore. Lets see what GB does to them with a healthy Favre.

Andre Gurode
 I certainly haven't watched all his snaps, but his botched shotgun snaps have become just about legendary. IMO, he shouldn't make the Pro Bowl for those, if nothing else. Is this guy really the best C the NFC has to offer? Is the rest of his game so great that it overshadows those gaffs?

Ken Hamlin and Marion Barber do not deserve to be in the Pro Bowl. You can argue all you want but they shouldn't be there.

Hamlin, Barber, Adams...don't belong there.

Cole blew Adams up the entire game on sunday.

Barber over freaking taylor? give me a break

Hamlin? That's rich.

We're very happy here in the northwest that he's gone. No complaints about Grant and Russell in the Seattle secondary. Much improved over last year.

I haven't watched Hamlin play that much in Dallas, but I can't imagine its that much different than what we saw last year in Seattle.

Does anyone that's not a Dallas fan think he was deserving?

No Jessica Simpson on the list??? Rumor has it NE will provide her with a front row seat if Dallas makes it to the SB

Hamlin has been Gold has played better then any in the secondary not named Newman. I'm very glad he signed here.

After a glance at your avatar I'm thinking you don't qualify, but thanks for the input.

He speaks the truth. Hamlin has been the second best DB in the Cowboys' secondary. Whether he deserved to make the Pro Bowl is an entirely different argument.

Would you agree that homers don't tend to give the most objective opinions? I don't mean to be insulting, but I don't know you. I was wondering what an objective person would say. Not to say you can't be objective. Just pointing out that homers have a hard time being objective. Please don't take that the wrong way. I hope that makes sense.

Hamlin was horrible last season with Seattle. He got beat deep a ton. Also, he had a tough time tackling. Always looking for the monster hit instead of simply putting a ball carrier on the ground. I'm much happier with Russell and Grant making tackles than I was watching Hamlin attempting to take someone's head off.

Is Newman a Pro-Bowl corner all of a sudden? And Hamlin as well? I thought the secondary was Dallas' weakness. Didnt the Patriots shed that secondary? Is the NFC really that devoid of good corners and safeties?

Goes to show how bad the NFC is. At least half of those guys don't make it if they're in the AFC.

Hamlin making the Pro-Bowl is a disgrace and shows you just how much the Pro-Bowl is a popularity contest.

Hamlin had almost double the amount of tackles last year, with two more INTs this year and then he makes the Pro-Bowl. Hamlin got relegated to a backup role and then eventually cut from Seattle for being such a terrible cover safety and tackler, but has somehow changed around his career in one off-season. LOL. Ya sure. :pickle:

Hamlin making the Pro-Bowl?? :lmao: ...I can't get over that.

 So if Roy does indeed replace Taylor that's 3/4 of the Cowboys secondary making it. That's pretty good for a mediocre pass defense.

Newman should have been in for the last two years. This is overdue.
