My two cents: Let's hope its impulses toward anti-democratic rule has been thwarted and it serves as a lesson to how it can happen here.

I'm not as optimistic as you are.  It's very possible that Trump simply accelerated a process that would have played out with or without him, but I think we'll look back on the 2016 election as the beginning of the end.  The Trump years basically broke both the Red Tribe and the Blue Tribe, and I'm not really seeing a good way to return to where we were as recently as 2015.
