FBI: Marquez and Farook planned slaughter at Riverside Community College, 91 Fwy @KFIAM640

Why are we knowingly allowing Islamic militants into the country? What the #### is wrong with these people? We spend hundreds of billions on homeland security and then we throw the resulting work out the window because their is concern about the privacy of social media postings?

If you find out someone applying for a visa has recently expressed a desire to be an Islamic militant, don't let them into the ####### country.

What a bunch of imbeciles.
Seems obvious.

WOW.

Time names al-Baghdadi Man of the Year.

Cover boy.

Disgusting.
You know Hitler was Man of the Year once, right?
He was Man of the Year before the world was at war against him and before we knew of his atrocities. Pretty disgusting to have al-Baghdadi Man of the Year.
I have to own up to this, I probably saw this article and thought that was going to be announced.

And Time did run this this cover in 2013.

He's not MOTY this year, IIRC that's Merkel. I should have checked or posted a link, but likely ran off a comment on my phone. Apologies for any confusion.

FBI: Marquez and Farook planned slaughter at Riverside Community College, 91 Fwy @KFIAM640
Most likely Marquez himself, apparently he has been totally cooperating with the feds. He didn't even hire a lawyer.

During the questioning, Marquez admitted that he and Farook had made plans to attack the library or cafeteria at Riverside City College, where both men had been students. The plan allegedly was to throw pipe bombs into the cafeteria area from a position on the second floor and then to shoot people as they fled.

The two also planned to attack eastbound lanes of the 91 Freeway during the afternoon rush hour, according to the affidavit by FBI Special Agent Joel T. Anderson.

Marquez told investigators that they chose a particular section of the freeway that had a long distance between exits, which would increase the number of targets in the eastbound lanes. The plan was for Farook to throw pipe bombs onto the freeway, which they believed would disable vehicles and stop traffic. Farook allegedly planned to then move among stopped vehicles, shooting into them, while Marquez shot into vehicles from a position on a nearby hillside.

Marquez allegedly said that he would watch for law enforcement and emergency vehicles, and his priority was to shoot police officers before shooting other first responders.

The two men took steps to carry out their plans by purchasing firearms, ammunition and other tactical gear, as well as going to local firing ranges, the court documents allege.

FBI agents found a thumb drive in Farook’s apartment with a spreadsheet entitled “marriage” that listed expenses the FBI believes were related to those terror plots.

The wife, identified as M.C. in the affidavit, allegedly paid Marquez $200 a month for a year in return for the marriage.
Sounds me like Farook befriended this dorky kid, bought him a wife (and $200 a month), and got him to participate in planning attacks. I've known kids like this and have my doubts that Marquez ever thought Farook would really carry them out.

I agree, Marquez may have been living in a dream world. And they hooked him up with a (Russian) woman/wife, and I'm guessing he had zero rep before that. They probably really worked him.

As per usual, you don't even know why you're mad do you? :lmao:

You don't want the NSA to monitor Americans because somehow your terribly boring life will be exposed, yet the U.S. Government i supposed to monitor every ####### Muslim in the world to insure they don't come here and blow #### up.

You don't have a very good grasp of scope do you?

Would have been nice to hear the president mention the people of San Bernardino...but I guess they got left off on the edits...

Milwaukee guy isn't getting much attention, just locally. Looks like the guns and silencer came from the FBI informants, and he didn't seem to be part of a larger group. Pretty clear he had bad intent but it makes you wonder how much he was set up.

Federal agents arrested three people, including the older brother of San Bernardino gunman Syed Rizwan Farook, on charges of marriage fraud, conspiracy and lying to federal investigators on Thursday morning, according to a criminal complaint.

Syed Raheel Farook, the brother of Syed Rizwan Farook; his wife, Tatiana Farook; and her sister Mariya Chernykh were all arrested Thursday morning and charged in a five-count indictment filed in federal court that centers around a fraudulent marriage between Chernykh and Enrique Marquez, who has been charged with aiding in the deadly Dec. 2 attack at the Inland Regional Center.

Two people were arrested at Raheel Farook's home after the FBI conducted a search warrant Thursday morning, according to Sgt. Paul Mercado, a spokesman for the Corona Police Department. A second search warrant was served at Chernykh’s home in Ontario, federal prosecutors said. ...

In the course of the investigation into the terrorist attack, federal investigators determined that Marquez received money to marry Chernykh, who took part in the wedding only in order to gain legal status in the U.S. FBI agents interrogated Chernykh as part of the probe into the terror attack, and prosecutors say she lied during those interviews, saying she lived with Marquez, when she actually resided in Ontario. ....

FBI agents have executed three search warrants at Raheel Farook's home since Dec. 2, when Syed Rizwan Farook and his wife, Tashfeen Malik, killed 14 people and wounded several more in a mass shooting at a conference room at the Inland Regional Center.

The husband and wife died hours later in a gun battle with police. Federal agents searched the older brother's home, where several Farook family members live, in the days after the shooting.

They conducted a second search in February, after the investigation pivoted to a search for key evidence that might help the FBI track Farook and Malik's movements after the Dec. 2 shooting. The hard drive of Farook's laptop has eluded FBI agents and has become something of a holy grail in the investigation as the FBI tries to determine whether Farook and Malik had any help in planning or carrying out the attack.

Raheel Farook's marriage to a Russian national also came under suspicion in the weeks after the December attack. The elder Farook and Enrique Marquez — a friend of Syed Rizwan Farook who has been charged with buying weapons used in the assault — were married to a pair of sisters from Western Russia: Tatiana and Mariya Chernykh.

Tatiana was married to Raheel Farook, while Mariya was wed to Marquez in 2014. Late last year, Marquez was charged with marriage fraud after federal prosecutors accused him of receiving money to marry Mariya Chernykh.

Records have shown Mariya Chernykh resided in Ontario and did not live with Marquez.

In the days after the shooting, friends and neighbors of the brothers said they were polar opposites. While his younger brother has been named as the architect of the deadliest terror attack on U.S. soil since 2001, the elder Farook was a Navy veteran who received medals for service in the "Global War on Terrorism."

The older brother was the extrovert of the two, friends say, loud and sociable when compared with Rizwan Farook.

While there has been no indication the elder Farook brother had any knowledge of his brother's plans, police were called to his Corona home days after the attack at the Inland Regional Center because of a domestic disturbance. At the time, a spokesman for the Riverside County district attorney's office said the agency was reviewing the case.

Prosecutors say San Bernardino attacker’s friend had ties to group arrested for 2012 terror plot

Federal authorities say they have discovered connections between a friend of the San Bernardino attacker charged with conspiring to carry out other attacks with him and a group of men arrested years earlier in California as part of a different plot.

This comes after the FBI had said in the weeks after the Dec. 2 rampage in San Bernardino, Calif., that they found no evidence of any ties between husband-and-wife attackers and a group of men arrested in 2012 and charged with plotting to travel to Afghanistan to kill American soldiers.

...Weeks after the attack, authorities arrested Enrique Marquez Jr., a former neighbor of Farook’s, and charged him with plotting to carry out other attacks in 2011 and 2012.

Farook and Marquez had put together detailed plans for the attacks, according to the FBI. In one plot, they discussed attacking the heavily-trafficked Route 91 by throwing pipe bombs into the road to stop traffic and then shooting at trapped motorists and first responders alike. In another, the FBI alleges that they talked about going to Riverside City College — a community college both had attended — and hurling pipe bombs into the cafeteria.

Federal authorities say Marquez bought the guns later used in the San Bernardino attack during this plotting and purchased explosive material later used to build the pipe bomb found at the scene of the December rampage. Prosecutors have said there is no evidence Marquez had any knowledge of the San Bernardino attack before it happened.

The attacks plotted by Farook and Marquez were never carried out, and according to the criminal complaint filed against Marquez, he told authorities that “he distanced himself from Farook and ceased plotting with him after 2012 for a variety of reasons, including the arrest of Ralph Deleon and others on material support charges in November 2012.” All four men later pleaded guilty.

Around the time of Marquez’s arrest in December, Comey said investigators had not found any evidence suggesting that Farook had any connections to these men. But in a court filing Tuesday, prosecutors from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles revisited the allegations that Farook and Marquez had been plotting attacks together and drew a connection.

During the window when he plotted with Farook, “Marquez had ties to a group of jihadists … who were arrested in 2012,” the filing states. After these men were arrested, it continues, “Marquez distanced himself from Farook.”
