Our league is expanding to 16 teams this year. For those of you who play in a 16 team league, what is your format?

Number of Divisions?

Schedule?

Number of Playoff Teams?

Starting Line Up?

Roster Size?

etc.

Thanks.

4 divisions of 4.

2 conferences.

Ea conference has 4 playoff teams: the 2 division winners and then the next best two. Total of 8.

Play ea div team twice for 6 games. Four conference outofdivision teams for 4 more. Then 4 from out of conference. (which is is either top 2 or bottom 2). 14 games. 3 game playoffs.

IDPs. Starting 8 on offense and 8 of defense. Roster = 35.

2 conferences with 2-4 team divisions in each. Division 1 has teams drafting from 1, 5, 9, and 13...division 2 with 2, 6, 10, 14 and so on. Divisions 1 & 3 make up one conference; 2 & 4 make up the other.

13 week schedule with two games against division rivals (6 total), 4 games against other division in conference and three games against one division in the other conference.

Division champions + next 4 best teams make playoffs. (12 total, 6 each conference). Division winners get byes in week 14 while wild cards are slotted 1-4 based on record and/or tie-breakers. Winner of WC #1 - WC #4 matchup gets one division winner while 2/3 winner gets the other. Divisional round matchups are preselected as to which wild card round winner gets which division champion (based on draft position which = team #). Super Bowl week 17.

Good luck with your expansion!!! :moneybag:

Number of Divisions?4

Schedule?13 games

Number of Playoff Teams?6

Starting Line Up?qb/1-3rb/2-4wr/1-2te/pk/2-3dl/2-3lb/2-3db = 8 offense, 8 defense

Roster Size? 35 w/ 12 taxi (90 contract years for actives) or 40 w/ 12 taxi (100 contract years for actives)

etc.

Suggestion for 16:

4 divisions of 4.

13 game sked.

Play divisional foes twice. (6 games).

The other 7 games against the 12 teams are up for debate, but you have to do the 2x in the division. You can play one division and 3 games based on league standings, random draw, rotation of schedules, whatever.

6 teams for playoffs - 4 division winners (which is why you play 6 div. games). Next best record is first wildcard (Seed #5). Next best total points scored (aside from Seeds 1-5) is Seed #6.

Two weakest div winners play wildcards (NFL style). Winners play #1 and #2 in Week 15. Super Bowl = Week 16.

Good luck.

Here is how we do it in my league that is in Yr. 5 -

4 Divisions of 4

14 game regular season - This setup only works in keeper/dynasty leagues.

-6 games in the DIV

-4 games against a separate division on a rotating basis (DIV A plays DIV B in 2007, DIV C in 2008, DIV D in 2009, etc)

-4 games that are based on previous year's performance. (If you finish 1st or 2nd in you division, you play the top 2 teams in the remaining 2 divisions)

7 Teams for playoffs

-1 is the only seed that gets a bye for Week 15. 2 plays 7, 2 plays 6 and 4 plays 5.

-In the Semi's, 1 gets lowest remaining seed.

-This is essentially the setup that the KC brass has proposed for years. Why award the #2 seed? This way gets an extra team in the postseason.

-What we have always done is that 4 DIV winners get top 4 seeds. What we are thinking about doing is changing it the format to winning your division only gets you in the playoffs, but not necessarily a Top 4 seed.

Starting Lineup

-1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 PK, 1 DEF

-Makes it pretty cut-throat on having good RBs

Roster Size

-18 man rosters

Number of Divisions? Four divisions split into two conferences.

Schedule? 13 weeks: 2 games vs. each division opponent, 1 game vs. each team in opposite division in conference, 3 games vs. random teams from other conference. In a conference set-up, make sure to play everyone in conference at least once.

Number of Playoff Teams? Eight teams advance, four from each conference. 3 weeks of playoffs: 1st round = 3-way game in each conference between two wild cards and lesser division winner, better division winner gets a bye; 2nd round = conference championships - winners go to title game, losers to 3rd place game; 3rd round: title game and 3rd place game.

Starting Line Up? 7 starters: QB, RB, WR, TE, K +2FLEX (RB,WR,TE)

Roster Size? 12 man rosters: 7 Start, 5 bench (+1 injured reserve)

Number of Divisions? 4

Schedule? 13 game schedule, Play divisional foes twice. (6 games). Other games depend on where you finish in your division. Also each team has a "rivalry game" based on geographic or other factors.

Number of Playoff Teams? 6 (4 division winners + 2 WC)

Starting Line Up? 1QB 1RB 2WR 1TE 2 Flex(RB/WR) 1K 3DL 3LB 3DB

Roster Size? 42

Redraft

4 divisions - same teams every year, 1 conference

Schedule - 13 games total, everyone in division twice, each divison plays one other division, 3 games vs. teams in the other 2 divisions

Playoffs - weeks 14 - 16, 6 teams, division winners and 2 wildcards. tiebreaker for division: division record, then points scored. tiebreaker for wildcards: points scored

Seed division winners 1 thru 4 and wildcards 5 and 6. 1st round: 1 and 2 seeds have byes and 3 vs. 6, 4 vs. 5. Winner of 3 vs. 6 plays 2 seed, 4 vs. 5 winner plays 1 seed, winners in super bowl

Starting lineup - qb, 2 rb, 3 wr/te, k, def/st. Use decimals. 1 point 20 yards passing, 1 point 10 yards rushing/receiving, -2 turnovers, fg's < 40 yards 3 points, fg's 40 - 49 4 points, fg's 50+ 5 points, defense/st +2 for turnovers caused, td 6 points, and I forget the points scored for defensive points allowed

We also use a waiver system with order being worst record first pick to best record last pick. Order is reset every week.

Trading deadline is Wed. before week 11. Commish can veto trades where collusion is clear.

2 Conferences w/2 Divisions each (4 total)Our conferences are determined Geographically (North to South). This creates semi-permanent divisions - we realign every year if someone has moved.13 week schedule. 6 games vs. division rivals, 4 games vs. the other teams in your conference, and 3 games vs. one of the other divisions in the other conference (We rotate what division we play out of conference each year). Who you play out of conference is based on record from last year:1st plays Teams 1,2,32nd plays Teams 1,2,43rd plays Teams 1,3,44th plays Teams 2,3,48 playoff teams with no byes. However, each conference winner gets money from the pot before the playoffs start. We start:1 QB1 RB2 WR1 TE1 Flex (RB, WR, TE)1 K1 DWe draft 17 rounds. When we expanded to 16 we went to a couple of roster limits no more than:2 "starting" QBs4 Total QBs2 Kickers2 DefensesI don't want to get into a whole roster limits discussion - there are plenty of threads for that...I am a big believer of making your own destiny, but at the same time we all agreed that is didn't seem like much fun to have your QB get hurt and not be able to start someone for 5 weeks because someone else is hoarding 5 of them - just doesn't seem realistic. Again, please no flames, just an opinion...
