16 Thursday Night Games starting 2012 (1 Viewer)

That'll cause a few lineup headaches in fantasy football, but in terms of just watching football games, it's all good.

It's really going to cramp my Thursday night prime-time TV viewing habits.

But it is a great compromise to avoid going to 18 games.

This will be a real separator for the fantasy information sites too as the Thursday games makes everything due sooner. BRING IT ON!

No sir, I don't like it. Teams/Players getting only 3 days to recover/prepare usually leads to crappy games. Don't need that #### every week. NFL on Thursdays should be limited to Thanksgiving and maybe the opener

I tend to agree, but it would be interesting to see if they worked it where teams that were on a bye the previous week played on Thursday (at least during the portion of the season that involves byes).

Love it, but curious to see if NFLN is the outlet since they have been in the past.
Likely they split 8/8 between NFLN and whomever ponie$ up for the other eight games - they NEED to sell half to get the extra income for this.......someone - not sure who read a lot of reports today - suggested that instead of first half/second half split they alternate which would like produce more demand for NLFN from those who don't have it.

Would assume NFL Network as this would greatly help gain cable homes.

If ESPN, I guess they'd have to bump college games to ESPN2.

Could always be a newcomer like Turner, but maybe not since tv bids aren't open right now.

I am excited for this, NFL 3 days a week is excellent imo. Having games on Thursday gives me something to look forward to at work.

Current Work Habbit:

Monday - Talking about the game later that night

Tuesday - Talking about the MNF game from the night before

Wednesday - Bored waiting for Sunday

Thursday - Bored waiting for Sunday

Friday - Pulling my hair out waiting for Sunday

New Work Habbit:

Monday - Talking about the game later that night

Tuesday - Talking about the MNF game from the night before

Wednesday - Talking about the Thursday night game

Thursday - Talking about the Thursday night game

Friday - Talking about the Thursday night game from the night before.

Then Saturday I spend just looking forward to a full plate of games and matchups on Sunday (not to mention watching college football). There wouldnt be a day of the week where I was getting antsy waiting for football.

I posted this idea in another thread:

I would like to see eight bye weeks, 4 teams per week. Each week, the teams that were on a bye would play on Thursday night.

a) This gives both Thursday night teams extra days to prepare (more than 3).

b) All teams would get a Thursday night game.

c) Since not all games would be "exciting" teams, you can pair an "exciting" game with a not so enticing game.

:D Thursday is kind of the start of the weekend; so really looking forward to this. Get the kids in bed, place a bet on the game, watch my fantasy players, throw a few drinks back....even if the games aren't all stellar, I'm all for expanding the fun.

Supply and demand. Would a full time extra day of NFL games water down the product? Part of the allure of the NFL is its limited availability. Baseball and NBA are not urgent watch games. You can turn on a game any day of the week for long periods of time. It is more urgent to watch the NFL because it is only on 2 days a week most of the season and for only so many weeks a year.

Im not a fan of this idea. I am fine with just Sunday and Monday!
They used to have just Monday nights and someone said they were not a fan of moving it to Sunday nights.I think it's great to have Thursday Night games. It makes the game even bigger, if that's possible. Let's end this lockout stuff and move on with this season.

Baseball and NBA games are not urgent watch games since each team plays 162 and 82 games, respectively. Individually, each game's impact to the post season implications is pretty insignificant. With only 16 games per team, each individual game in the NFL is much more significant. This is why I will go out of my way to watch every regular season game for a team I follow in the NFL, but won't turn on an NBA game until March.

i hope this doesn't happen. monday night ok, sunday ok, sunday ok. add in thursday and that's just too much for me.

they are getting a little greedy for me.

awesome for the 3 hours of entertainment....sucks for the IR report and a stud questionable on a Sunday and a WR/RB 3 playing Thursday

You don't have to watch the Thursday Night game - just prentend it's one of the Sunday games that wouldn't be televised in your area. I don't really get the downside as long as the NFL schedules the bye weeks appropriately for teams playing on Thursday.

true and i probably won't. unless it's a good matchup. however, it makes it a pain for setting fantasy football lineups with flex options, etc.

not a fan, Thanksgiving won't be as special anymore. From a FF look it'll be more of a pain not. But the NFL knows their going to make a boat load of money from it so its going to happen.... :(

I think it's a combination of the two. Factually, the product may not be "diluted" if no additional games are added but I am not a fan of distributing the product more evenly throughout the week. The NFL has a tight, consistent and "concentrated" weekly cycle with the Sunday, Monday and occasional "special" Thursday. With this move, it's another step towards "football all week" and if only in perception, the product is somewhat diluted.
