again, bad for the players. they already play in pain all year anyway. doesnt anyone feel uneasy watching horce racing and seeing the horses get whipped all the way down the stretch. that's what this feels like.

and selfishly, i dont want to get sick of football and i dont want the games to mean less. 18 game season and 14 team playoff would take a lot of the luster off the league for me. i already dont care about the other major sports because they go on and on and on...

it's wrong for the league to assume that just because we love the nfl that more would be better. if anything, i would give every team 2 byes and eliminate one exhibition game.

more NFL is better
more NFL is lesser quality NFL. Saints would have mailed FIVE games in last year.
The Saints wouldn't have clinched home field advantage until like week 16 or 17 so they would be tanking the same amount of games. I don't really buy the argument that this would result in more teams mailing in more games, because there will be two more games in the season so teams won't clinch until much later.

For it, as long as they shorten preseason by 2 meaningless games.

More games that count = more revenues for the league and players = less chance of a long strike/lockout. A longer regular season may be key in salvaging the 2011 season.

The players are still risking injury in training camp/preseason games. They might as well have less boring preseason "games" and more real football, in my opinion.

Or it may be one of the reasons for a stale mate at the negotiation tables. The players don't want it and are going to fight it. It is one more thing for ownership and the players union to fight over. I think it lessens the chances for football in 2011. Also the players will play more and have higher risk for injury. It's not as simple as just swapping pre season for regular season in regards to playing time.

well, many have said that the exhibition season is too long. I would agree with that. But NFL teams dont want to just axe preseason games & lose revenue.

In my opinion, 2 preseason games may be a little short. I'd like to see the middle ground of 3 exhibition games and 17 regular season games.

either way the proposed format has been used in the CFL for about 5 years. it works okay for the most part, but most teams need 1 more game to really get in the groove. (that is why I proposed 3 exhibition and 17 regular season instead)

I can't see how it won't lead to more injuries. I think the game itself suffers big time.

Star players will be pulled at the very first chance in any game, any week, when the score gets just a little out of hand. It will all be about pacing yourself for the playoffs.

If the players want more money, this is their shot. I am not passionate about it, but this could be the shot to settle the CBA. Not trying to be a jerk here, but I work 60 hours a week cause that's what it takes to do my job. I don't feel too sorry for them particularly if they get post-retirement health coverage. 95 percent of these guys got a free college education which few took advantage of. No one made them play football.

Yes is my vote.

Wow I voted yes and figured it would be a landlslide. I could stand to watch 2 more weeks of football and have 2 extra weeks of fantasy football to play, but after seeing some of the reasons people have for voting no, had I read the thread before voting, I think I would have voted no.

Against it. Seems like many teams even on their 3rd presason game are still not in sinc particularily the offenses.
