20 years of audible (1 Viewer)

I wanted to mention that I finally got my schedule synced up to catch some of a live broadcast of the audible and they said it's been twenty years.

My goodness they're old!

I remember day one. I remember BTR.
Cecil used to do these angry rants that were the funniest thing. Sometimes there were playful insults in there and ...ya know this woke world and everyone learning to act differently online and be better, that stuff went away. It was funny like a comedian and I loved it. I....I don't agree with lots of woke changing stuff but nother time nother topic. Cecil has a really funny side I just wanted to mention. His eight man football rants are one of my favorite things ever.

Bloom has always been a good good dude. He thinks just a bit different on most everything and I really think that's one thing that makes him so great. It doesn't matter the topic or news item that's been discussed and nauseum, Bloom is gonna say some thing that somehow someway it wasn't brought up previously. I miss him here. He was just wonderful for adding to discussions.

Bloom spent a minute or two wholeheartedly thanking Joe and listeners. Every time ya think he's a good dude, he shows you he's even better.

Cecil is very nice and a good guy too.

No duo has ever been more honest about their love for rookies AND egg on their face when they're wrong about some guy too. I think the Pool has something to do with that. I just...my goodness is it easy to relate to. That's what I want more than anything. A lot of guys have me gauging if they're overblown excited and didn't you say .... but these two shoot ya straight and I love that stuff.

100 years ago, I texted Cecil from a press box asking about interviews and can I use Q&As other reporters ask? Like I'm right there. I hear it. Obviously ya can and it's kinda dopey now but I was nervous and second guessing myself.

I used to have a lot of Giants numbers and I remember telling Bloom that Ward cleaned out his locker. He's not on the waiver list not listed as anything. Yeah well I promise it's a good source. Brandon Jacobs but I couldn't say. Anywho it was like three days later he was cut or traded or something. I've thought a lot about that since. If I ever get in a locker room again I'm noticing whose is empty.

I remember Andrew Garda being their bro. I was fortunate to be a guest on some shows and I think Andrew first realized I memorized stats and could just rattle them off.

Twenty years...I've had a hard life myself. A fair amount self inflicted, a fair amount bad luck. I'd stop reporting to care for my kids and we'd drift apart and all but I always listen to these guys. They've been a good distraction from life's junk for me oh so many times and I'll always be so grateful for that.

Somewhere I have a pic of my then young daughter writing on a first grade paper that flowers Sigmund and neither she not her teacher were aware it was a joke.

Did you know Cecil is an artist? He's so stinking talented!

I have a dopey habit of listening to radio and podcast people all the time and feeling like we're close or something. Like me and Howard Stern are not bros yet somehow his voice is in my ear and idk...just an affinity for some hosts I guess. I love Cecil and Bloom. They're the best.

It's the coolest thing how they were just random posters here and have done so well for themselves. I'm proud of them. It's so awesome to watch from afar.

Y'all know I can ramble.
Did you know a lot of sites put out a top 100 and it was like umm yeah we go to the Shark pool we know all them. Who doesn't? The number got greater n greater. Some of us site owners would post top 200 or 300 and kinda bounce around and there's Bloom with his. He kinda made the industry just stop and use his number.

Welp, love these guys. Thanks so much for twenty years. I'd hug ya if I could. It's really meant a lot to me, more than I could ever express.

Definitely part of my weekly listening. They may get things wrong like we all do, but it’s not without a lot of insight and thought. I do get a kick out of all their “sorry, Joe” statements whenever they say anything that could be construed as the least bit off color.

I didn’t know they started as just two guys posting on the old board - that’s cool. I’ve been a regular listener for at least 15 years. Biggest hit i can remember was them being very high on a guy id never heard of named Jimmy Graham coming out of the Saints bye his rookie year.

Cmon y'all have some stories over the past twenty years
Loved the Thursday night live shows, especially the few when the Steelers would wind up losing with Sig and Cecil seeing it coming from a mile away and Matt giggling his *** off.

“Where you listening the night Cecil was drunk on the air”

Long time listener. Greatly enjoyed them both. I came upon fantasy late, around 2000 and I somehow found Football Guys, both the web site and the Audible.

I was working a lot away from home and had an abundance of time to be filled so I would always listen while walking for exercise as well as the long drives mandated by the travel. Their podcast as well as these boards became my foundational place to learn and I am so thankful for the education. Comradery at the Shark Pool as well as their Podcast was off the charts.

So thankful for @Joe Bryant, David Dodds, @Sigmund Bloom, @Memphis Foundry, @Clayton Gray, Jason Wood, @Bob Henry, @Maurile Tremblay, and Will Grant for doing what they do.

Truly blessed for all the guidance, enjoyment and just all around good times that have been provided.

My favorite podcasts were the ones live at the NFL Drafts when they were always at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. I really wanted to go to one of those.

Been listening since around 2012, and they've always been my favorite. And certainly that has mostly to do with the personalities and angles brought by Cecil and Sig as you mentioned.

The way in which Sig gets underneath things as an analyst, the self-appointed "Mayor of Narrative Street," his ability to articulate his critical thinking, and the coining of such terms like "assumption of rational coaching," are what keeps me coming back, among other things--like the whole concept of "On the Couch."

I could go on why they're my favorite, even if gun-to-head, Jamey Eisenberg might be my #1 for whose opinion might sway me on any individual draft or lineup call . . .

. . . but just when I thought I couldn't like these guys any more, Sig has, more than once, given big praise to teachers. As a public school teacher in my 21st year, what more can you ask for when mowing the lawn in August, half dreading, half looking forward to September, and your fantasy analysts are giving your whole profession props out of nowhere?

That was one of the first podcasts I ever listened to. They were really at the forefront there. Sig always has the most interesting takes and is obviously quite intelligent, well read, rounded. It's nice to hear. I feel like in the last couple years the FF market has been flooded with a lot of idiots. So I enjoy hearing people who are intelligent end entertaining, who are just as comfortable riffing on music or art or Roman history as they are handcuff RBs and weekly waiver pickups.
