Lester vs. Pettitte

A pitchers dual as two southpaw aces take the hill.

Is this even a rivalry anymore? Not saying the Yanks aren't a great team but it seems as if the focus has turned to the Rays.

I would like to see the Sox extend their series lead on the Yanks this weekend...I see the Sox winning the first two, and the last

I can't believe I'm typing this:Go Yankees!/Rays #1
I can't decide who to pull for Knight. On one hand, would love to see one team get pushed back further and have little confidence going into hosting the Rays...and as Olney put it, possibly give up on looking for a big trade and accept a non-playoff season. On the other, I'd like to see the Yanks help the Rays extend their lead. But that in turn keeps them in the heart of the race.Quite the unusual dilemma.

I do not think there is as much of a rivalry as there was once....I however, have a renewed hatred for the Sox and their fans....mostly their fans. So I am hoping my Yankees pull it together here. Otherwise....GO RAYS!!!

this might be the dumbest yankee fan statement I have seen...So if the Yankees don't win the series you are mailing in the season?

Uhhhhh no...that is not what I meant. I don't bail on the team and root for another till they are eliminated. I would root for the Rays to win it all over the Sox is what I meant. I don't realistically see the Yanks making the play offs after having lost Wang though. And if you think that is the dumbest Yankee fan statement then you have clearly never been on the other Yankee boards.

There is only one way to salvage this night and I am off to do that now....

ugh....hope Joba brings his A game when I am there on sunday.

What happened to Damon?
Serious bloopers play. He was closing in on a fly ball deep to center when he jumped and snowconed it at the warning track. As he came down the tip of his glove and the ball hit the padding at the top of the wall. Ball comes loose bounces about 2 feet in the air and lands back on the padding. Damon crashes to the ground and hits the wall with his leg as he lands. This knocks the ball off the wall and onto the ground next to him. He looked like he thought it was still in his glove. As fas as Damon goes It look like he hurt his ribs. Hilarious play though.Mike Lowell with a shot

The book is out on Oki. This guy has become seriously ineffective.
One more inning from Beckett would have been nice.
Completely. Instead they trot Oki out and think somehow he's going to be effective like he was last year. 9.00 + era in June :coffee: He looked like he was going to vomit when Francona gave him the hook. Oki is done...it was a good run. Not sure they would have been champs last year without the Oki Pap 1-2 punch.

Someone needs to translate to Oki and Dice K that B. Ruth and S. Oh have retired. It is now okay to pitch a ball within the strike zone occasionally.

A rain out would be nice. Having two wins going into games three and four without being forced to use Paps is a good thing.

While series is far from over (not to mention this game)... nice to see the Sox manning up w/o their top hitter. Love seeing Ellsbury challenging A-Rod's mobility on those bunts... Lowell makes up for his first inning squander with his jack... Beckett digging in when he needs to... Razzle Dazzle exposed...

Actually, rainout might be best for both teams, as somehow I don't expect either starter to go especially deep tomorrow, and the Yankees bullpen has already been a bit active this series.

figured one of these games is going to extras...might as well be the only one that I have to work the next day...

Two very winnable games by the Sox, lost. They have now lost 8 of their last 10 losses bya single run. Not sure if that should make me feel better, worse, or indifferent...

Hard to win close games when your bullpen sucks

Let's not get carried away now...he gave up a hit and a bleeder that Cora should have managed. It is not like he gave up two hits and hit two batters
