2008 schedule (1 Viewer)

North

Footballguy
I know it's sometime in April but am going nuts. Do they usually wait till after the draft?

I recall hearing on NFL Network it would be before the draft. It was on Total Access when the preseason schedule was released, Mayock or somebody said the rest of the games would be released "in a few weeks".

NFL | League to release schedule

Mon, 14 Apr 2008 09:38:24 -0700

Ed Bouchette, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports the NFL will announce its full schedule of regular-season games Tuesday, April 15. While each team's opponents have been known, the dates and times of each game will be released.

Per KFFL

On siruis this morning they mentioned it will be announced on the Afternoon Blitz show...not sure if it will proceed the posting on NFL.com, but thought I would mention it.

This is just my guess, but it is the Lions turn to play an AFC team on Thanksgiving this year. The AFC teams that come to Detroit are Jacksonville and Tennessee. I would think that you can pencil in the Titans on Thanksgiving this year.

I dunno, I think Jax is higher profile right now than Tennessee because of their showing in last year's playoffs. Yes, I'm a jags homer but I would think Garrard and MJD are bigger pulls right now than Vince Young.

I've heard a rumor that Cleveland @ Buffalo will be the Thanksgiving night game... no source was given to the rumor though.

Rumors from Eagles web writer Dave Spadaro-

There are few days like this one. We know the schedule for 2008 is coming out in a matter of hours, minutes. It's an agonizing wait, and it's one of the most enjoyable times of the year. What do I hear? I hear the Eagles are opening at home. I hear the road trip to San Francisco comes early, and then the road trip to Seattle comes in October. I hear the Eagles could host a game on Thanksgiving night. I hear the Redskins could be coming to town in October, with the Eagles playing at Washington in late December.I hear all kinds of things, but how much of what is whispered about now actually comes true?

Rumor on WGR550.COM sports radio Buffalo, that the Bills may be involved in the 8:00pm thanksgiving NFL network game.

Hope its true doubt it though

I don't know. The VY hype may be dying down some, but it's still there. Jacksonville doesn't even sell out its own stadium, Tennessee doesn't have that problem (less seats IIRC)Garrard, although he might be the better QB, won't draw fans like VY does. But then, it isn't always the most hyped team that makes it to Turkey Day. they may want a better game - Jacksonville would be a blow out.

Rumor from Jags board-

A co-worker just passed on this (says he has a contact at Jaguars... I can't verify):No Thanksgiving gameSteelers here onSunday night.Indianapolis here on Thursday night. One away Monday night game.
That means Titans-Lions on TGiving and the Colts visit Jax late in the season when the heat is no issue.

I believe the Bills will play the Seahawks or Pats in Toronto in December.

The latest rumor is the Bills Browns in Buffalo on NFL NETWORK Thanksgiving night.

I hope that one's true.

Looks like PFT ha smashed the Eagles on TGiving rumor together with the Browns on Tgiving rumor. I don't know if they're adding 2 plus 2 and coming up with 5 though.

BROWNS-EAGLES ON THANKSGIVING NIGHT?Posted by Mike Florio on April 15, 2008, 12:00 p.m.It’s two hours until the sheet is pulled off the 2008 schedule, and the leaks continue. One comes from Eagles’ web guy Dave Spadaro, who writes of rumors that Philly will host a game on Thanksgiving night.Based on a recent report from Tony Grossi of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, who wrote on April 1 that the Browns will play on Thanksgiving night, and given the fact that the Browns and Eagles are due to play this year in Philadelphia, it looks like the Turky Night game will be Cleveland at Philly. The Browns lead the all-time series, 31-14, with one tie. The Eagles last defeated the Browns in Philadelphia in 1967, and the Browns have since won four straight there, with the last win coming in 1994.If, of course, we pretend that the pre-1999 Browns are really the post-1999 Browns, and not the Baltimore Ravens.

Eagles beat the Browns in 2004 in Cleveland, I beleive the game was in OT - Florio wrong once again

You are both right, he said in Philly, not Cleveland.

Sports Radio 810 just leaked KCs 1st 4@ NEvs. DEN@ ATLvs. OAK
1 -3
One thing I know about that sked....KC fans will know what kind of season it will be by the end of the OAK game. Go 3-1, and it is full speed ahead, even 2-2 would probably mean an improvement.....but start 1-3 or 0-4 and we can pack it up early. Arrowhead will be empty the last 6 games.
Those are not in order, in case anybody was confused like me.Denver plays KC in Week #4, according to the Denver sked.

Steelers 2008 schedule announced

Tuesday, April 15, 2008

By Ed Bouchette, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Not only do the Steelers have the toughest schedule in the league, the NFL issued them one in which they won't have the chance to feel comfortable with any one kickoff time.

The Steelers play at night in three of their first five games and have only two scheduled 1 p.m. kickoffs in their first 13 games in 2008.

Their schedule, released by the NFL this afternoon, contains the maximum of five night games -- two on Sunday, two on Monday and one Thursday.

The Steelers open at Heinz Field Sept. 7 against the Houston Texans and then go right into the teeth of their AFC North Division competition at Cleveland Sept. 14, an 8:15 p.m. start. The Browns and Steelers are virtual co-favorites in the AFC North, according to early odds.

The date for the Steelers' preseason opener also has been set, for Aug. 8 against Philadelphia at Heinz Field.
