2010 Credit is due for these players (1 Viewer)

QB:

Michael Vick- I was among those that didn't think he could ever be productive in the pocket or make WR's FF relevant. Now, how long can Vick keep this production up with the injuries? Time will tell...but good comeback.

Matt Cassel- I was also among those that didn't think Matt Cassel would sustain his job at KC...much less be FF worthy since he left NE. He has had a great season, nice work Matt.

Jay Cutler- Yes I'm a Bears fan...but with all of the Jay Cutler/Bears hate....he has cut his INT's down from 26 to 14(with one game to go)...ran for the most yards in his career....first winning season in his NCAA or NFL career and limited his sacks in the last half of the season by a large margin.

Sam Bradford- I didn't like you coming out of the draft and thought you were a product of the system....but not only did you prove your worth in the NFL...you just might lead the worst team in the NFL last year to the playoffs(if you win today). Nice work Sam and way to set the rookie QB completion record along the way.

Josh Freeman- He was raw coming out of Kansas State....but after 2 years...this kid looks like the real deal and could sneak the young/injured Bucs into the playoffs.

RB:

LT- Most people thought LT was done and just a backup. This guy just works hard and it was great to see him successful again.

Arian Foster- You won lots of FF owners money this year(not me)...and proved your worth in the NFL. Will he be the long term guy?

Darren McFadden- I thought you were overrated coming into the league....most thought you were a bust after 2 years....you proved us wrong. Nice work Darren.

LeSean McCoy- This guy put in tons of work in the offseason and it paid off...now will he get all these receptions every year? We will see....but what a great season.

LeGarrette Blount- From getting cut in the preseason to being one of the hottest RBs in the NFL the past few games...that's one heck of a turnaround...way to jump the competition.

Peyton Hillis- What a player to watch run the football...he is a beast.

WR:

Brandon Lloyd- You also made a lot of money for FF owners...an odd bounce back in a later career....I doubt he keeps it up....but good year.

Roddy White- going from mostly 80 catch type seasons to 109 with a game to play....nice work.

Mike Wallace- Way to take that next step up.

Dwayne Bowe- 15 TD's....what a comeback player

Steve Johnson- "Why so serious" what a season for a late round pick a couple of years ago.

Mike Williams X2- Both of these guys overcame odds to be productive WRs in 2010.

TE:

Aaron Hernandez/Rob Gronkowski- These guys came through moreso after Randy Ratio left NE...but they give Tom Brady/NE fans lots to hope for in the future.

Ben Watson- I sure didn't see this guy being an every week starter in FF....but he was pretty close

Mercedes Lewis- Helped David Garrard look good and finally lived up to some of his hype from the UCLA days.

Jacob Tamme- Helps ease the pain from Dallas Clark owners.

Returning:

Devin Hester- Being a Bears fan or not....gosh is this guy exciting to watch. Glad you got your groove back Devin.

Marc Mariani/Jacoby Ford- Late round draft picks that helped out their teams with big time returns this season.

Defense:

Green Bay Packers- With injuries(which I think have been overstated) Dom Capers has kept this team in the playoff hunt despite the offenses struggles this season. What a remarkable job...wouldn't be surprised to see him get a HC opportunity.

San Diego- The #1 defense in terms of yardage by almost 200 yards....yet they will miss the playoffs.

Why would 914/4.2/6 and 368/7.1/0 make anyone think he was something besides "done"?He was a below average starter this year who benefited from TONS of ESPN hype after a couple good games early in the season. Hes been non-existent from week 5 on, only breaking 4.0 ypc twice, and is a major reason why the Jets offense is as bad as it is.

If by "below average", you mean #15, okay. From week 5 on he was the #23 RB, so not very valuable in small leagues except for bye weeks, but in large leagues he was helpful and cheap.

The funny thing with Matt Cassel is that nobody f'n started him!

I'm curious to know in each of our leagues how many weeks Cassel was started. In ours it was 2. Most owners had him as (at best) a backup, and it took SO long to buy into the numbers (rightfully so) that by the time you put him in, you ended up getting burned in week 13 with a crap 1 TD performance, or not being able to put him in due to his appendectomy. He was Eli Manning's backup in our league. He played on Eli's bye, and on week 13, and that was it. I would assume this is the case in most leagues.

Not saying he doesn't deserve credit -- just a bizarre set of circumstances means not very many owners ever played or faced Cassel this year.

You must be giving credit to these players for what they did for their real teams and I agree, Mariani has been one of the bright spots for the Titans. I find it odd though that you're including returners and not IDPs.I'd add the New England TEs to your list, also Pettigrew and Ben Watson.

I started him 9/12 times I think16 team start 1QB league.S Hill got the start a couple of times.Missed the playoffs by 1 game

I'm mixing in NFL worth and FF worth. I don't play IDP...so anyone that would like to add that may do so.Yes Watson, Pettigrew, NE TE's, and Mercedes Lewis.

Shonn Greene has fewer yards and fewer TDs in that same timespan. The RBs aren't to blame here.

FWIW, Cassel surprised me the most from the QBs. I thought I was making a great deal when I dealt him, 2 2nds and a 3rd for Cutler back in early October. I thought Cutler could pull it around (and he did play better), but Cassel was the #3 QB after that trade. Nobody could have seen Cassel doing that well.

Long term, I still like Cutler a lot but Cassel could just be a good starter.

Cassel gets nothing from me -

he was PUTRID in september, so putrid that I dropped him and THEN he blows up . . .

thanks

signed,

bitter ex-Cassel owner . . .

One more to add:TE Jacob Tamme
I'd add the IND WR--the guy who got multiple concussions... Can't remember his name... but he was drafted LATE and put up MONSTER numbers when he played... I remember a 2 and 3 TD game at least... when he was in he outperformed Wayne most games...Also lacking from this list are the "known" guys.... Brady, PIT D, etc.. but I'm assuming you want to call out people who don't get the recognition...

LeGarrette Blount- From getting cut in the preseason to being one of the hottest RBs in the NFL the past few games...that's one heck of a turnaround...way to jump the competition.

Blount would help his cause if he could catch some passes and score some TD's. I think we see D. Williams in TB next year or some other back. The coaching staff is not sold on Blount.
