2010 Draft Grades (1 Viewer)

Let's do it now okay, since no one wants to truly wait five years to do it properly.

Easy formula, if you have TWO first round picks, you get an A automatically.

If you have NO first round picks, you get a C automatically.

If you have 3+ picks in the first 50 picks overall you get an A.

If you have ZERO picks in the top 50 you get a C.

If you are the Raiders, you automatically get a D.

Etc..etc..

bottom line do we really need to give out draft grades this weekend????

Your real grade is the inverse of what Peter King gives you.
Isn't it amazing how horrible some of the top Sports writers are? They seem to age like Politicians; the more exposure and power they achieve the less insightful they become. That wasn't true for Will McDonough though!!!From Wikipedia...McDonough became a hero among Boston sportswriters after a 1979 altercation with Patriots cornerback Raymond Clayborn, in which McDonough leveled Clayborn after Clayborn had poked him in the eye.[1]Now that's a no BS guy....RIP Will.........

Green Bay Packers (5/1/05): DGood Moves: The Packers had a tough choice to make in the first round: draft a talented successor to Brett Favre, or improve their woeful defense. They chose the latter. Green Bay has a bright future, but their present is bleak. Center Junius Coston and WR Craig Bragg were excellent choices in the fifth- and sixth-rounds, respectively.Bad Moves: Green Bay did not address their woeful front seven until the fourth round. Cornerback Nick Collins and wide receiver Terrence Murphy, both taken in the second round, were fourth-round prospects, at best. None of Green Bay's other picks made any sense. If they passed up on Rodgers in the first round, the Packers would have an F.
oof...

edit: I googled up some random site for grades at the time --- footballsfuture.com

New England Patriots, B.

--The game is won in the trenches, and the Patriots drafted two lineman on Day One in Logan Mankins(Round 1) and Nick Kaczur(Round 3).. Patriot fans are going to love Logan Mankins. Ellis Hobbs is one of the best special teamers, and should be a solid nickel corner. Even though I do not reflect it in my grade, the Patriots should also get special note for acquiring Duane Starks for a 3rd rounder prior to draft day, and they acquired 2006 3rd, 4th, and 5th rounders in separate trades moving down.

Keep an eye on: Ryan Claridge, ILB, UNLV

editor's note:

the '06 third was part of a trade that got them 'hanging' chad jackson.

the '06 4th was garret mills

the '06 5th was ryan o'callaghan (back up OL - still with team)

mel kiper --

New England Patriots: C Guard Logan Mankins was a reach in the first round but the Patriots obviously like his size and nastiness, and he will help fill the void left by Joe Andruzzi’s departure via free agency. Ellis Hobbs has good size but not enough skill to be more than a nickel back, and safety James Sanders was a teammate of Mankins at Fresno State and both were helped by the relationship between Patriots coach Bill Belichick and Fresno State coach Pat Hill. Tackle Nick Kaczur could play guard as well but came off the board a little early and Matt Cassel is a big project at quarterback.
