2011 Faceoffs - Master Thread (1 Viewer)

This concept has been changed for the 2011 season. No longer will we discuss a single player. Instead, we'll tackle a drafting strategy, concept, or even an entire position. Further, instead of two writers with opposing views, we'll open each subject to the entire staff so you'll get multiple views. With that in mind, we'd love for you to offer suggestions on topics you'd like to see covered. If you have an idea, please post it here. And of course, feel free to throw out comments on the current faceoffs as well.

Current 2011 Faceoffs

Avoid At All Costs - 6/20

Drafting a QB - 6/20

The Indianapolis Backfield - 6/20

The Jaguars Receiving Corps - 6/20

The Old Guard At WR - 6/20

Rookie Quarterbacks - 6/20

The Top RB - 6/20

Auctions: Studs & Duds or Value - 6/27

Draft At All Costs - 6/27

Green Bay Receivers - 6/27

RB Most Likely To Rebound - 6/27

The Saints Backfield - 6/27

WR Most Likely To Rebound - 6/27

Great new concept for the Faceoff articles. May I suggest two other topics for the staff to tackle?

The Saints Backfield

The Finley versus Jennings Debate

There is already an "Avoid at All Costs", how about the opposite?

"Draft Values" or "Draft at all Costs", with players that the staff is drafting above their current ADP?

QB before round 4?

Auction Strategy: Studs and Duds or Value Approach

WR most likely to rebound after an awful 2010

RB most likely to rebound

Undervalued defense

Some potential concepts...

1: Taking Talent vs. League Dictation. Mainly an argument of talent vs. how a league is setup scoring wise/roster size wise. This kinda pinballs around VBD but playing a start 2 QB league is much different from a "normal" flex league so would they take a talent higher than usual in the 2 QB league or try to use a strategy that they generally use in every league?

2: Coaching Overhauls. How do they prepare for it/do they alter their projections or strategy if a certain coach known for a style of play (ala Mike Martz or Josh McDaniels for QBs) joins up with a team?

3: Defense and Kickers. This tends to get glossed over, heavily, in leagues but I'd be curious what their reactions are. Is there ever a time where it's better to land a "stud" at the position? Have they shifted towards a TDBC or do they play the wire matchups? Do they go after a top tier team and essentially plug them in (ala the top QB remarks)? Same for kickers.

Tebow - Top 10 Dynasty QB in the making or not?

(on a related note)

Best QB for Denver (Now and Later): Orton, Tebow or Quinn.

Impact of McDaniel arriving in STL.

Rams WRs- Who emerges in 2011?

Arien Foster, elite talent or beneficiary of the system in HOU?

I think a good topic to ask the Football Guys is "Most desirable RB handcuffs" "D/ST worth drafting before the run" and of course any in depth drafting strategy. Thanks

How coaching changes will affect team x or teams in general.

The old guard at RB (Gore, Turner, SJax, FJax come to mind).

Top sleepers

Most likely to become elite

Suspension watch

BTW, love this new Face-off request format. Keep up the good work.

How much does strength of schedule (SOS) influence your drafting decision when deciding between players with similar projections? And if so, what specific players will you be targeting due to their easier SOS?

Rams Receivers is a good one from above

Cowboys Backfield might be interesting

Cardinals RB situation - would be nice to hear some thoughts about parallels between Wells/Williams and Williams/Stewart of 2008

Thoughts on taking a DEF early (e.g. Pittsburgh or the Jets) vs streaming matchups
