"Ultimate Survivor" will consist of 12 different 12-team leagues (144 players total / 120 from the message board and 24 from the Footballguys staff) and will end with one league competing for the 12 prizes. Leg 1 drafts will take place from Friday, August 19th through Saturday, August 27th. The Leg 1 leagues will be Best Ball (meaning the best possible lineup will be started automatically) and either Survivor (meaning one or two of the worst-scoring teams are eliminated each week until the last four teams remain) or All Play (meaning each team will play every other team every week and the four teams with the best cumulative records advance).

These 12 leagues will all compete for the first five weeks of the NFL season. At the end of those five weeks, the top four teams in each league will advance to Leg 2 of the competition.

Between Week 5 and Week 6 of the NFL season, the 48 people advancing will compete in four new 12-team leagues (Leg 2). The Leg 2 drafts will take place on Friday, October 14 and Saturday, October 15. These leagues will span 5 weeks (Week 6 through Week 10). All four will be PPR leagues and Best Ball / All Play format. Draft times as well as league rules for leg 2 leagues will be determined at a later time. The top three finishers from each league in Leg 2 will advance to a final new 12-team league (Leg 3).

Leg 3 (Final 12 people) will draft on either Friday, November 18 or Saturday, November 19. This league will span 6 weeks (Week 11 through Week 16). It will be a PPR league and Best Ball / All Play format. Draft date / time as well as league rules will be determined at a later time.

After the automatic entries, there are 106 spots available for message board members. There are 13 ways for message board members to gain a spot into Survivor (only one entry per person):

12. Keep contributing quality posts in the Shark Pool and Assistant Coach message boards. Additional consideration will be given to people that try hard to earn a spot in the captions. State your intentions in this thread - 40 or so spots will be chosen by 11:59 PM Eastern on August 15.

13. Be chosen by a staff member – at the discretion of the Footballguys staff, 10 or so spots will be chosen by 11:59 PM Eastern on August 16.

Upon selection as an entrant into the contest, a person will sign up for an available draft/time slot that fits their schedule.

Prizes will be awarded to the 2011 Top 12 as follows

[*]1st prize: Lifetime subscription, Entry into FBG 2012 Players Championship, $500 cash and TitleCraft Trophy

[*]2nd prize: 3-year subscription + Entry into FBG 2012 Players Championship

[*]3rd prize: 3-year subscription + $200 cash

[*]4th prize: 3-year subscription + $100 cash

[*]5th - 12th prizes: 1-year subscription + $25 cash

Both staff and message board members are eligible for these prizes (except that staff members can not participate in the FBG 2012 Players Championship).

Leg 1 Details

These leagues will be a combination of Best ball and Survivor (ie no transactions). The Survivor leagues will vote off 2,1,2,1,2 in their five weeks (to get to 4 teams). Best ball will be cumulative record against the other teams.

Owners will not submit lineups. The best available lineup will be scored from your entire roster of players based on the starting requirements as defined. This is known as All Play.

Each league will have 2 staff and 10 message board entries.

The following will apply to all drafts

[*]Drafts will be 24 rounds.

[*]Draft position will be random using an online dice roll once each league is filled.

[*]There are no positional restrictions during the draft.

While I will try and find a witty caption, it likely won't fly but I think my track record in the event is a plus as are my posts, draft commentaries, and help around the forums.

 
As in the final leg last year, I am definitely in. :boxing:

The only day I won't be able to draft will be this Sunday the 14th as I will be moving my daughter from MN to live with me. Other than that I am wide open.

I have played Ultimate Survivor in 2009 and 2010 and would like to participate again. During the lockout, the traffic in the Shark Pool had gone down, but I have continued my participation, especially giving commentary and projections in the Player Spotlight Series. This is a great contest and thanks to the staff for all the hard work in putting this contest together.

I will do my best with the captions.

 
After being in the 2009 and 2010 incarnations of Ultimate survivor, I would love to be considered again. I tried my hand in all of the photo captions, but I'm not very good at that kind of stuff.

That being said, I've put up decent showings the past few years. I made the final leg in 2009 and made the second round last year. I also sparked some very lively conversation in the discussion threads. ;)

On the voard, I'm very active in the Eagles threads and I've been known to drop some inside knowledge there every now and than. ;) I also try to put up my top 20 at each position every year to spark discussion in the Shark Pool.

To sum everything up, I hope to be in the league again. :)

I'd like to give this a shot. I gave over half of the caption contests a shot. I looked at all of them, but some captions would've been just too forced. I couldn't make myself write something cheesy just to say I tried all of them.
 
I participated last year in all the captions & the survivor. I've participated in all the captions this year & I'm an avid contributor in AC. I also swim with the sharks some & hang with the junkies in FFA a little.

 
Shocked that the Venn Diagram contest isn't back this year ;)

Of course, that's pretty much the only way I was able to qualify last year :kicksrock:

I'd like to play again this year if possible. I've played two years, finished in top 12 in 2009 and made it to the second round last season. It is a lot of fun.

 
Been a subscriber for the past two years, in this contest the last three, I feel like this and the subscriber contest are worth the price of admission alone, and THIS is free, just need to contribute on the boards, be funny in a caption, or make your case, and I've been lucky enough to do one of the three the past three years. So hoping I can play again! Such a great time!

There's my chance! Can't caption for crap every year haha.Gonna go ahead and mention that I loved it last year and actually advanced, but was unable to do the next round's draft. I would LOVE another shot at it.
 
I'll be posting in the caption threads. However, if I don't make it I'd like to be considered for my work on the many Player Spotlights, my attributions in the AC....during the season, and of course my opinions that I often post here in the SP.

Always missed this in the past and I've been part of this site for almost a decade. Always trying to add meaningful commentary and help others in the Assistant Coach. If my wittiness doesn't work in the photos, please consider me for a spot.

 
I had a ton of fun with this two years ago and actually advanced to the second round, but didn't get selected last year. Would love another shot. I'll also take a shot at the captions. Good luck everyone.

 
I don't post as much as some of the lookatme's but I try to make them count.

Loved doing all the captions last year and there are some good pics this year too. Fun exercise.

I bowed out last year early in my first try but had a great time. Losing Grant Week 1 hurt but my team didn't have enough zoom anyway. Love all the contests.

 
I would like to be included in this contest if at all possible. I will try my hand at all 10-11 captions, but who knows?

I am active mostly in the IDP and Shark pool, although I have the occasional foray into the FFA (until I have to go running home screaming from the insanity). :excited:

Hi!!! I am new to the forums... in fact this is my first post and would love to start my career by being included the Ultimate Survivor contest!!!! It could be a nice welcoming gift :)

Participated the last few years in this and would like in again. Participate in the Mock Draft boards as well so easy ADP for folks to figure out for me :)

 
Would love to be considered for this. I will try some of the captions but that's not my thing. Have been in the mock draft survivor leagues for a few years now and won twice.

I've had the pleasure to compete in this the last several years. I thoroughly enjoy it and also getting to know some new folks in the drafts. Usually always make a new friend so I enjoy that part of it.

Last year I made it into the round of 48, would like to challenge for a seat at the final table. I feel my contributions are strong but they do come at times with a heavy hand and I make mistakes. I am proud though of the work we have done in the SP with the RB position over the last 10 years, it's been a blast.
