Mid-June:

Yankees 15 games over and on a 9 game winning streak.

Orioles somehow continue to win.

Rays 3.5 back.

Alright, a little breathing room in the bronx! 4 up on the O's, 6 in the loss on Tampa. Toronto is shot with their industries but they can wreck your staff if you have a bad series with them. And don't look now, but the Sox arent an embarassment anymore.

My admittedly crazily biased opinion is the Orioles finish 5th and the Yankees finish 1st. I think Tampa might finish 4th, their offense just isn't that good, their pitching is but the bats in this division are ridiculous. That leaves the Blue Jays and Red Sox for 2nd and 3rd. Right now they have the exact same record and have scored 445 and 444 runs respectively (2nd and 3rd best offenses in MLB). Boston has allowed fewer runs and will continue to do so unless the Jays add at least one starting pitcher. The Red Sox offense could get even better with their guys coming back from injury. I guess what I'm saying is Boston likely finishes 2nd, Toronto 3rd, barring deadline moves - but the Yankees and Red Sox being the Yankees and Red Sox means they likely make the biggest splashes at the deadline.

I think the run differential tells a good story as well.

Yankees +66

Red Sox +47

Blue Jays +26

Rays even

Orioles -43

I assumed all along that three teams were getting in from this division. I had a different three teams in mind, however.

It's unfathomable that Boston is 13.5 out right now. How did I deserve this much happiness???
