2013 Closers (1 Viewer)

No one will offer what the Indians demand and something is wrong with pestano. If he is traded it will be in December.
Maybe it's a Kershaw hip.
Lol.

His velocity was down late May post DL stint with elbow issues and since he's been very erratic. He doesn't look the same on the mound, like he's over compensating for something. His velocity is closer to previous levels but his location's off and movement is down. Maybe only pitching once in ten days is what he needed to get right, we'll see.

Someone dropped Brothers in my keeper league so I picked him up last night for $3 as a possible keeper play. Then today Betancourt hits the DL with Lupus or something. Coincidence?

(7/21/13) Pedro Strop would be "one of the higher candidates" to closeshould the Cubs choose to trade Kevin Gregg, manager Dale Sveum told the Chicago Sun-Times.

Strop posted a brutal 7.25 ERA with Baltimore but hasn't allowed a run in eight appearances for Chicago. He excelled in a set-up role for Baltimore last year, as he posted a 2.44 ERA in 66 1/3 innings.

Anyone picking up Strop just in case? How many relief pitchers do you guys usually carry anyways in a start 2 RP with 3 P flex spots? I have Nathan, Romo and Gregg already. Looking to drop Vargas for someone. Was thinking about grabbing T. Walker for a prospect grab but maybe a closer would be better, not sure.

I'm intrigued by Strop's sharp spike in ability right after being traded, which would fall in line with a coach with Chicago helping him make a really positive adjustment. He's cut down on the walks significantly, even after that nightmare of an inning a couple days back.

Taking a flier on Gregerson too.

i think Gregerson is more likely to get traded before Street. Maybe thats wishful thinking on my part.

Even in my needy leagues, I'm staying away from both of those closer situations. Well, I have Ernesto, but I'm just benching him for the week. All of the replacement options are lousy.

Picked up Latoya Hawkins in case Parnell hit the DL. I think AARdsma might also be an option there.

I speculated on Aardsma Friday, but after two lousy outings this weekend I think someone else will get the next look. Hawkins makes sense.

#### closers. Go from 6 closers mid season to possibly 2 now. Going with Josh Fields for now to take Veras spot. :tfp:

There's only one person in this world who thinks Jim Johnson should still be closing games for the Orioles. Unfortunately, that person is Buck Showalter.

K-Rod has to be close. last 5 outings: 5 innings, 2 hits, 0 runs, 1 walk, 9 strikeouts

Yeah Showalter is about as stubborn as Leyland, but even Leyland had his breaking point with Valverde (twice). Have to think the next time they are in a save situation, K-Rod gets a shot. Then they go from there.

Anyone gone to Chia-Jen Lo?

Just lost Brothers with Betancourt's return, so either need to go after a speculation or this Lo guy. FRod available, as well as high K guys like Herrera, Rondon, etc.
