*** 2013 Official Philadelphia Eagles - NFC EAST CHAMPS*** (2 Viewers)

Should Philly rest their guys tonight like McCoy and save him for next week vs Dallas? Whether they win or lose they must beat Dallas next week to wing he division, period.

I would likely only sit McCoy or share his workload heavily amongst the backs, would not want Foles to get out of rhythm as he has looked sensational at times. If I could get Jackson out of the game all the better as well but Chicago is going to be playing for the division starting tonight, they are not going to sit back so I doubt Philly is in a position where they can rest their starters because they have the game put away.

Any thoughts on any of this mumbo jumbo? Thanks.

Only 2 pages of talk about this this week. Thanks for joining and reading up.

3 seed might get to play Carolina. Still think 3 vs 4 is meaningless?
3 Seed likely going to play New Orleans round 1. 4 Seed should get San Fran travelling out east. I'd rather play SF, go bears?
I think they mean second round. Going to Carolina versus going to Seattle
Ya I know.... would rather worry about first round before we assume we're winning a playoff game. After today though, not sure I'd rather play in Carolina then Seattle.

Come in firing off about our coach and you're surprised we tell ya to gtfo our thread. Then tell us you're not a bad guy and keep firing away. Go start a game thread where I can avoid your drivel. Merry Christmas, cockroach.

If Dallas wins Sunday and the Eagles sat their starters and lost to the Bears, that could haunt the Eagles if Dallas and the Eagles tied. Dallas would win the tiebreaker.

Kelly has said it, he is playing his starters, which he should. If the second half is a blowout either way, I could see starters being pulled early.
The Eagles will lose to the Bears whether they sit their starters or not. They can't keep up.
Keeping up ok so far

Play scared by sitting and we won't have to worry about the first round till next year. Glad kelly agrees.

LolUnless things change a great deal, I don't think you'll be seeing Flapgreen around here.

Meh, Bears' offense looking far better than the Eagles, just as he said.

I'm here, dude. I don't run and hide when I'm wrong. You guys are better. It's easy to see.

"Foles was 21-of-25 (84%) for 230 yards with 2 TDs and 0 INT for a 131.7 QB rating." #CHIvsPHI

And of the 4 incompletions I remember 3 throw aways. 2 out of the end zone and one at someone's feet to avoid a sack. Sick.

We should destroy the cowboys
You should, but how can you explain getting beaten up by Minnesota who was destroyed by Cinci this week? Chicago was better than Minny but yet Philly killed Chicago.

You have to play the games but I agree, even though Dallas won it appears like 2 teams heading in the opposite direction. That's rare when one team already beat that team on the road like Dallas did to Philly but later in that same season you get that feeling that Philly should win by double digits.

You act like youve never watched the nfl before. Being a cowboy fan i guess thats possible.

Its called the NFL and trap games. Teams get lax for a minute in the nfl and they can get thumped. These are the best athletes in the world studying and preparing for an entire week to do nothing but destroy their opponent. If tou take anyone lightly, you can easily get beat. We see it every week. Are the Jets and Rams better than the Saints?

This. It was talked about all week on the Philly sports radio that MIN was the ultimate trap game for Philly. Having AP out made it even worse for Philly as far as playing with an edge. There were actually some people who picked MIN to win the game even though all common sense said the Eagles were the better team.

10 observations from Eagles-Bears game

Remember when Phil Simms called the Eagles’ offense one of the five worst in the NFL?

Yeah. Ha.

Here are 10 instant observations off the Eagles’ ninth win, which clinched their first winning record since 2010:

1. I told LeSean McCoy before the season that he was going to have a better season than Adrian Peterson, and he told me I was crazy. With one week left, I like McCoy’s chances. Simply, McCoy is the best running back in the NFL. He’ll go into the final weekend of the season with a 189-yard lead over Jamaal Charles for the NFL rushing lead.

2. Just another day at the office for Foles: 21 for 25 for 225 yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions and a 131.7 passer rating. Foles completed 84 percent of his passes, breaking Rodney Peete’s franchise record for accuracy (83.3 percent vs. Lions in 1996). That’s 25 touchdowns and two interceptions this year for the 24-year-old out of Arizona. The most TDs in NFL history by a quarterback throwing two or fewer interceptions? Boomer Esiason had 13 TDs and two INTs in seven games in 1997 after replacing Jeff Blake. Insane.

3. This is incredible: Donovan McNabb was a six-time Pro Bowl quarterback and is considered a borderline Hall of Famer. Yet he had only two seasons with more touchdown passes than Nick Foles has in the equivalent of 9½ games this year. In about 60 percent of a season, Foles' 25 touchdown passes are sixth-most in franchise history. Insane. The five ahead of him: Sonny Jurgensen (32 in 1961), McNabb (31 in 2004), Randall Cunningham (30 in 1990), Norm Snead (29 in 1967) and Ron Jaworski (27 in 1980). Just insane.

4. Chip Kelly handled Sunday night perfectly. This team didn’t need a night off, especially on the heels of an embarrassing loss to the Vikings. They needed to play football, they needed to regain their confidence, they needed to continue developing that winning culture. I certainly feel better about the Eagles going into Dallas on the heels of 54-11 win Sunday night over a Bears team with everything to play for than if Matt Barkley had played the whole game and the Bears won 20-12. A veteran team with playoff experience? Sure, give ’em the night off. A new team with a new coach that’s still finding its way and coming off a 48-30 loss to a 3-9-1 team? They needed this.

5. Brandon Boykin is such a playmaker. I’ve said this all year, but this kid is going to be a Pro Bowl corner before he’s done. So athletic, instinctive and smart. That’s five interceptions this year, and he’s not even a starter. He’s Lito all over again. But better against the run.

6. Cedric Thornton has been playing very well all year, but this was his best game yet. This is a kid who two years ago was on the Eagles’ practice squad -- any team could have signed him -- and he’s just been a beast. Has to be the most surprising guy on this defense. He’s smart, physical, active, relentless and as good a run defender as we’ve seen around here in a while.

7. How about Trent Cole continuing his renaissance? I have to give him a ton of credit. First half of the year, it really looked like the transition to linebacker wasn’t going to work out for him. He had no sacks through Week 8 and that’s on the heels of a disappointing 2012 season, when he had a career-low three sacks -- just 1½ the last 13 weeks. So going into the Oakland game, Cole had 1½ sacks in his last 21 games. Since then? He has eight in seven games, including seven in his last five. He never stopped playing hard. He never stopped being a force against the run. He never stopped working and learning. And for a 31-year-old guy in a new system learning a new scheme under a new coach, that is really a lot to ask. Cole is an all-time great Eagle, and he’s proved it all over again the last couple months.

8. And how about some love for the Eagles’ offensive line. It's just gotten better and better every week this year, and that’s given Foles, McCoy, DeSean Jackson and everybody else the opportunity to shine. The last three weeks, the Eagles have netted 478, 475 and 451 yards of offense, the first time in 60 years (!) they’ve netted 450 or more three straight games. They’re only the second team in NFL history with 10 games in a season with 425 or more yards. They look unstoppable right now, and it all starts up front. Those guys just took the fight right out of the Bears Sunday night.

9. I’ve been doing this since 1988, and I’ve never seen a team give up like the Bears did. That was pathetic. That’s a proud organization. Everybody on the field ought to be ashamed of their effort.

10. Finally … the Eagles are not losing in Dallas Sunday night. Period.

Lost a bit is the fantastic draft by Roseman this year. Lane Johnson, Zach Ertz, Bennie Logan, Earl Wolffe are producing at a high level and look to be long term starters. I still stand by the Barkley pick as an upside shot in the 4th. Well done by Howie.

Last year's as well. Top 5 picks are all major contributors (Cox, Kendricks, Curry, Foles, Boykin) plus Bryce.

Yep. I may have probably been one of the lone Howie supporters around here but he certainly deserves to be mentiooned in these headlines. He also was responsible for hiring that Kelly guy everyone is talking about as well

Heard Vick might be interested in coming back nxt year as a backup. I think I'm in favor of that... 2nd year in the system, and probably ok to come in for a game or two if he had to... Should be no question of Foles being the guy or drafting a QB in the first 4 rounds.

He just had to get out from Andy's enormous shadow so we could see who was doing what.

Thinking about this again, to be fair, Foles was supposedly all Andy, so maybe Howie shouldn't get that credit, but still a great job overall.
