But aren't the Bulls already in this conversation with a healthy Rose? The only thing they seem to lack is another deadly shooter. If he buys into The Butchers system and Rose is healthy, thats a team that can win.

has Melo ever bought into a system? He does his own thing, that's the problem.

Father time is a #####. You watch your peers reach the apex, maybe you do funny things to get a ring. You know, like head south for the winters? Wade changed with James in town, maybe Melo would with Rose. More interesting to me is would Rose buy into this. I don't want it to happen but I think the NBA is better off with Melo in Chicago. Another team that can compete with the Heat (if they stay with those 3 amigos).

That defeats the value of a 2nd rounder. I think they have to take Lin on. Feel bad for Thad but maybe he gets traded to a contender midway.

it is crazy how under-rated Thad is around the league. I'm guessing it has to do with the contract too. I know he isn't a super start but he would help a ton of these teams. He will get a chance before the trade deadline.

Reasonable take. I have my fears about Melo as a teammate. But I don't think the Bulls sign him unless he buys in. And if Rose is close to Rose and they keep Butler and Gibson, Melo doesn't have to lead this team anywhere. They will arguably have the best starting 5 in the NBA that can beat you in multiple ways on either end. A title isn't a sure thing but I think it would then be realistic goal.

Why exactly? The Bulls need scoring and Melo is more efficient offensively than any Bull. If they can keep Butler and Gibson, the defense will still be elite. With the lack of offensive players on the team I don't see his high usage being an issue either.

I don't think it's as simple as we have everything but a scorer, Melo fixes that. Everywhere he goes that's what they say and everywhere he goes the team is a constant tease. They win enough games to keep things interesting then get to the playoffs and call it an early summer. It's not getting better either, it's getting worse. If the arrow were not pointing down I would have more of an open mind, but he plateaued a while ago.
