***2014 T-Shirt Exchange*** Is this correct? Everybody receive a shirt (1 Viewer)

Received my package from Doowain on Friday. Opened it yesterday and it's great....5 beers I've never had and a cool shirt that I don't understand.

I haven't had a chance to take a picture cause I've barely been at home the past 2 days...will take a pic when I get home.

Thanks a lot....I love it!

The head goes through the top hole and the ones on the side are for your arms. Do this and your torso will naturally go through the bottom large hole

Happy you like it. That place has killer food, one hell of a craft beer selection and a fun pub atmosphere. I believe they started out in Columbus and there is one near me. MadTree is a Cincy brewery (one of MANY). If you dig IPAs you will definitely enjoy Psychopathy. Hope you like the others!

Will be heading down for the Reds/Red Sox day game this week and hope to make it over to where I wanted to pick up the 2nd shirt. Will all depend on how late the wifey wants to hang out after the game.

Honestly, I'd rather not send beer. I've shipped a lot of beer in the past and have had packages opened/rejected by FedEx/UPS. It happens regularly in the beer community, but it is illegal, to my knowledge.

Just my two cents.

From the USPS site:

There are rules and restrictions for what can and can’t be mailed.

This list is not exhaustive, but in most cases, you can't send…

  • Alcohol — Alcoholic beverages (beer, wine, or liquor) are restricted and can’t go in the mail. If you’re reusing a box displaying alcohol brands, all logos and labels need to be completely removed.

How about weed? It's practically legal at this point. Vacuum seal it and you're good to go. I'd love to sample some bud from around the nation.

Maybe I'll just start a beer & beer shirt swap separate from this one. I've shipped beer many times and have never had a problem.

Rules would be shirt(s) must be beer/ brewery related (2 shirt limit), and maybe a fluid oz limit range to give flexibility for beer sizes. For example, a 38oz limit would allow someone to send three 12oz beers, or two 16oz, or a 22oz and a 12/16oz, or a 750ml and a 12oz, etc...

I think we would get a good turnout for this kind of swap.

Those of us that swap beer usually use UPS or FedEx. I've sent via USPS before but I don't recommend it.

Right, but my understanding is that shipping beer is illegal. I'm not condemning it, I've done it plenty of times before. But it's still illegal even if you're shipping via UPS of FedEx or whatever.FWIW, I've only had 1 package denied and returned to me (Fedex). I've never shipped via UPS. I had a handful of bottle breaks via Fedex but I think that was more an issue of my not packing it well enough.

I've read its illegal to ship alcohol via USPS but its only against policy of FedEx and UPS...which is why you just don't tell them what you're shipping.

Package outbound from NYC to Verona, Wisconsin. Sorry for the delay!
Hey, I have a Verona mailing address :excited:

But, I'll be in the Boundary Waters canoing with my son until the 11th. So, if that package is mine I won't be able to let you know it arrived until then. I'll definitely post pics after I'm back.
Is somebody there to receive it?
Yep, my wife and older son are staying behind. He has to miss the trip since HS football practice starts next week.
Just walked in the door from returning from my Boundary Waters trip. After a quick hello to the wife I had to tear into my package. Wow! The shirts and other do-dads are fantastic. Perfect. Muchos Gracias. I'm totally wiped out from the trip, but I will post pics very soon. Great job on the shirts.
NV, once again, the shirts are great. I wore the Prospect Heights shirt last night and it fits great. Here are some pics. By the way, when I first opened the package I didn't notice the letter. Thanks for all the detail behind the meaning of the shirts. Good luck to you and your growing family. I also got a kick out of the cozy and coaster. Thanks GB.

First one to receive, one of the last to send. My shirt is in transit to Chicago via Fed-Ex 2-day. Sorry for the delay.

Then how do wineries and beer clubs do it "legally"?

Based on what I've read, its not illegal to ship alcohol via UPS and FedEx, but its against their policy. It IS illegal to ship it via USPS.I believe wineries, etc can legally ship if they have a distributors licence.

I actually put this question out to the TBS people and no one seemed to have a straight answer. No one seems to know whether it is actually illegal for unlicensed people to ship beer.

You are correct on the second point. There are licenses that allow businesses to ship beer/wine. It's dependent on state law, as far as I know.

When I made my comment above, it was under the presumption that the sender is fully unlicensed.

Don't think Ted Turner ships beer; ;) if he does, he has a distributor's license.

Ok, giving this a shot with Flickr. I couldn't get photobucket to work. Here's my two awesome shirts from Wrigley:

Sorry for the bad pics, but all I had to use was my iPhone.

Hah, I live near New Glarus and almost bought that first one for Nick Vermeil. I went with the Capital Brewery shirt from Middleton, WI instead.
