2015 Bold Predictions thread (1 Viewer)

Don't see this thread here and always think it's a fun one and super helpful with research before the draft and sometimes after. Rules are pretty simple - make one or more predictions that go well against current conventional wisdom, whether it's Player A will greatly exceed his ADP, highly ranked Player B will bust, Team X will win the Super Bowl. Something like "Andy Dalton will be QB1 for 2015" is a bold prediction, saying instead that Andrew Luck will be QB1 is not. During Fantasy Playoff weeks I'll nominate a handful of submissions for Best Prediction and Worst Predictions with those who posted predictions getting votes and the winners getting incredibly valuable no-prizes for their amazing prognostication powers.

Note: for disclosure purposes, please note whether you own the player you're making the prediction about so this doesn't turn into a "Wishful thinking about guys I overpaid for" thread.

I'll start off:

1. The 2012 draft strikes back. RG3 is the top ranked QB in the NFCE and provides solid QB1 value for most of the season. T-Rich gets the nod after Latavius Murray gets hurt early and actually doesn't suck, putting up RB2 numbers. (own Murray in 1 of 4 leagues)

2. WR will have some of the biggest ADP mismatches in years. Charles Johnson, Victor Cruz, Stevie Johnson, Brian Quick, and Marlon Brown all provide huge value for those who draft them. (own none)

3. TE proves to be a draft capital wasteland, where teams who stream routinely beat owners who ponied up high draft picks for supposedly "safe" TE picks.

4. At preseason, Drew Brees and Teddy Bridgewater are ranked QB5 and QB15 respectively. Each winds up the season closer to the other's number than their own. (own none)

All fantasy predictions based on ppr scoring:

1. St. Louis Rams win the NFC West, and it's not solely due to their elite defensive unit. The passing attack takes off.

2. WR Eddie Royal outscores WR Kevin White (own neither).

3. Justin Forsett (do not own) outscores Adrian Peterson, DeMarco Murray, Marshawn Lynch, L'Veon Bell (due to suspension, not per game) and CJ Anderson.

4. Brandin Cooks (own in multiple leagues) finishes as a top 10 WR.

5. The Lions' defense continues as a top 5 unit despite the loss of Suh, while Miami doesn't crack the top 15.

6. Pats go 3-1 with Jimmy Garoppolo (do not own) under center and the offense doesn't lose much at all.

7. Trent Richardson (do not own) leads the Raiders in rushing yards and TDs.

8. Geno Smith (don't own but "homer alert") flourishes in the Chan Gailey offense leading the Jets into the playoffs where they knock the Patriots off in the second round before losing to Cincinnati in the AFC championship game.

9. Tyler Eifert (own in one league) finishes behind only Rob Gronkowski for TD receptions by a TE.

10. The Cowboys finish outside of the top 12 in rushing offense despite all of the accolades heaped on the offensive line last season. In other words DeMarco Murray is missed.

Drew Brees isn't in the top 10 at the end of the year, Winston replaces him and leads the Bucs to the playoffs.

A Abdullah breaks into the top in ppr at rbs and Matt Forte falls out

Greg Olsen leads the Panthers in receiving yards and receiving tds while Jimmy Graham flops in Seattle

Mike Wallace gets up the streak of Norv Turner WR having huge years as he gets back in the top 10 and OBJ falls out during a sophomore slump (and injuries)

GB beats STL (n GB) to go the SuperBowl and Indy beats SD (in Indy) and Andrew Luck wins his first SB! (and is the highest scoring player in fantasy in 2015)

Brady plays in all 16 regular season games by going to court and having his case heard after the season is completed.

for PPR:

1) Graham finishes as TE1. Gronk gets hurt and no one can cover Graham for the 5-8 seconds Wilson scrambles around several times a game. They limit Lynch's carries to save him for the playoffs in what might be his last year, plus they want to unleash the Wilson-Graham connection. I own Graham in one league.

2) Ryan Mathews finishes higher than Murray as Murray hits a wall and Kelly feeds Mathews a ton either way. I own Mathews in several.

3) John Brown emerges as the #1 in Arizona. I own him in several.

4) Adrian Peterson either has at least 1500 yards and 20 TDs or he has 2000 yards and 15 TDs. Either way he destroys the NFL this year. I don't own him.

5) The only Colt worth owning, besides Luck, will be Frank Gore. It will be a rotating WR/TE stud from week to week, but Gore will be steady and finish as an RB1. I own Gore in one league.

6) The reports on Drew Brees demise will be proven wrong. He will finish as a top 5 QB. I own him in one league.

7) Mariota has his fantasy moments but turns the Titans offense around. They still need a RB, but he makes Kendall Wright a WR2 this year with 80/1000/7. I own Wright in a couple leagues.

:subscribe:

Forsett and #2 overall TE Owen Daniels are the biggest preseason misses plaguing the FF community right now.

Cam Newton = top 3 in MVP voting as the Panthers repeat as division champions, this time making it to the NFC Championship game

Tennessee Titans finish .500

Jamis Winston avoids drama, wins ROY and makes people think he's a future top 5 QB but MM does better in FF

The Eagles start the season 1-4. Fans voice their displeasure with the play of Bradford/Sanchez, and Tebow is named the week 6 starter. He leads the team to an 8-8 record, just narrowly sneaking into the playoffs.

In the wild card round of the playoffs, the Eagles play to a scoreless tie in regulation. The players and referees meet in the middle of the field for the coin toss. The Eagles call heads, and win the toss! The referee, Gene Steratore, looks to Tebow, the team captain, and asks what he'd like to do. Tebow is heard over Gene's mic saying "We want the ball, and we're gunna score".

The kickoff heads into the endzone for a touchback. Tebow breaks the huddle for the first play of overtime - It's a slant route to Jordan Mathews. Tebow drops back, fires a perfect strike, and Mathews takes it 80 yards to the house for a touchdown and the win.

The Eagles lose in the divisional round.

QB Winston throws for 350 yards and 2 TD's, runs for 100 yards and 2 more his first game ... then parties, punches a chick in the face and his season is over with suspension.

QB Manziel takes the job week 2, finishes top 10 PPG for QB's

RB McFadden goes for 1200 yards and 10TD's .... not Murray but very good

QB Eli finishes top 10 because OBJ is #1 WR with 130 catches, 1650 yards and 16 TD's

TE Jordan Reed finishes #2 behind Gronk and a bit ahead of Graham

TEN DEF is #1

Ball pressure is checked in a Colts game and its found that 11 of 12 balls are deflated ...... Luck comes clean, admitting the Patriots never did anything and it was the Colts all along that are the ball pressure cheaters. Oddly enough, Goodell does nothing to Luck or Colts.

Good list until you got to 7.

Marcus Mariota wins Offensive ROY.

Raiders win their division.

Texans only win 4 games.

DeMarco Murray wins the rushing title again.

A KC Cheifs WR catches a TD pass.

gisele breaks up with tom brady at halftime of the week 12 game. A photo taken of Brady shedding a single tear in the huddle goes viral and the "tom brady sheds a single tear for _________" blows up on the internet.

a grease fire erupts at a local New England Popeye's chicken which causes the drive through line to backup resulting in RB LeGarrette Blount to be late to his third consecutive team meeting. Bellichick cuts Blount despite him being the AFC's 2nd leading RB through October.

A lot of not so bold predictions in here...cmon ladies, you're about as bold as Melvin Gordon at the line of scrimmage.

1) Carson Palmer and Sam Bradford finish top 5 in QB scoring.

2) Jordan Matthews finishes top 5 in WR scoring, Aghalor finishes top 10.

3) Ray Rice finishes top 25 in RB scoring.

4) Jamaal Charles, CJ Anderson and Marshawn Lynch all finish outside of the top 10 RBs.

5) Arian Foster finishes as a top 10 RB

A few off the top of my head:

- Landry has at least 100 receptions. (have him in a few leagues)

- Gore is not a top 15 RB in PPR leagues. (have him in a few leagues)

- Peyton is not a top 5 QB. (have him in a few leagues)

- Garoppolo is the QB to own in NE by the end of season. (do not own him or Brady)

- Hopkins is not a top 20 WR in PPR leagues. (do not own him)

- Sproles is the top scoring RB in Philly in PPR leagues. (have him in a few leagues)

- Mariota is a top 12 QB. (do not own him)

- Crabtree outscores Cooper. (have both)

with El Nino hitting the bay area hard this winter, Superbowl 50 will be played in a monsoon-like deluge. The stadium will flood and power and other stadium amenities will be spotty, ruining the planned 50th anniversary halftime celebration and further tarnishing the reputation of the fading 49ers' organization.

Whoa whoa whoa, stop the clock. A monsoon?

Tyrod Taylor finishes the year as a Top 10 QB (fantasy-wise)

(really wanted to say Top 15, but #### it, this is bold)

T. Lockett wr Seattle returns six kicks/punts for TDS

Eddie Royal finishes in the top 15 for receiving

Roy Helu out scores Latavius Murrary in PPR league

Cobb rushes for over a 1000 yards for Tenn

Eli Manning wins MVP

C.J. Anderson finishes outside the top 20 for total FF points for RBS

Jimmy Graham under 50 receptions
You don't trade a 1st round pick, the best center in the game, and on top of that swallow a guy's $10M/year salary for three catches a game. You're basically just betting on Graham to get injured for him to have under 50 receptions.

Virgil Green finishes as a top 5 TE

Matt Ryan finishes as the top scoring QB.

Julio Jones finishes as the top scoring WR despite missing some games to injury.

Shane Vereen finishes as the top 5 RB.

Garoppolo replaces Brady permanently by week 8.

Jeremy Hill wins the rushing title.

Romo MVP

ODB doesn't reach 1000 yards

9ers make the playoffs. Kaep ends up a top 10 FF QB.

Winston benched by week 8

Phins win the AFC East

Ebron #1 FF tight end

Cooks #1 FF WR

Ebron #1 FF tight end

Ok calm down, you believe none of these.

Bold statements........Romo MVP and Phins winning East prolly have highest likelihood of happening.
They're called bold PREDICTIONS... not "see who can make the boldest statement". Try to make them ones that you at least believe will happen... you don't believe that cooks is going to be the ff #1 wr.... or likely not the others too.

I can say 'tebow wins mvp" ohhhhh look how bold! Make them ones you actually predict are going to happen man!

Statements, predictions whatever.......its throwing out stuff that could happen. Some of em not highly likely, but feasible. You're the one who needs to settle down.....oh wait ur an eagles fan......never mind. And come on man, Tebow likely wont make the 53 man roster. Romo was very close to the MVP last season. Cooks has the opportunity to have a big year. OBD is a hammy waiting to happen. The Phins definitely could win the East. Ebron has looked very good in camp. He's got the tools to be dominant. I think Winston will be a turnover machine. He wont be able to lead his team back from deficits like he did in college. The 9ers making the playoffs.......yea, that's may be kinda crazy......But Kaep could most definitely sneak into the top 10, if they unleash him and let him do what he does. And I think he may just improve as passer.......I know, crazy, right?

not sure what being an eagles fan has to do with anything or has any relevancy to this unless you were just looking for a totally random cheap jab.

Guess you haven't been following, he will make the roster. Again, not relevant though, my point was that this thread was for bold predictions that you thought would happen.

And yes, you're rightRomo was very close to MVP... You know... since he got TWO out of 50 MVP votes.

Tebow is a wasted roster spot. Chip will be out of a job in a couple years......Is that a bold prediction?

Romo had an MVP worthy season. I predict him to win it this season. Not very bold......A homer pick? Absolutely.

We're going to need a few more details.
