I guess Sporer has a huge pitching book every year. I am sure he works super hard on it and I really mean this in the most non-######## way possible but I just can't imagine paying for his opinion.
See, that's just it. The most persistent voices are the ones that get noticed. There are few people out there doing decent work other than regurgitating the obvious. Have you heard some of these podcasts? They're an embarrassment. The industry hasn't evolved beyond a could of guys with Skype. It's terrible.

It's always been a strictly content driven industry because there is no real data kept on who knows anything. These people just keep dumping out garbage and people eat it up because they don't have any confidence in themselves.

Also there's not many (any?) writers who demand you come back to read their work. Maybe it's just dry material but there isn't anybody who has made it captivating.

Collette warned everyone on Twitter that if they asked him a fantasy question and he found out you asked someone else the same question, that he would refuse to answer. I guess that is a huge pet peeve of his.

He's really, really, really proud of himself.

Look at this site. They have 10 million articles on which ####ing tight end to draft and it's all like reading an 11th-grade grammar class paper. Horrible.

I try to get through "the sleeper and the bust" but the fact it puts me to sleep, makes it a bust imo.I see how they developed the name though.

Everybody is working with the same set of public domain stats that have been available for years. The revolution in analytics is happening (presumably) behind the screen (except in Philadelphia) with proprietary metrics. How many times can Sporer say that somebody's FIP has been better/worse than their ERA for it to be worth 30 bucks.

Bill James had the advantage of newness that can't be reproduced today. He could also write in a provocative and entertaining way.

I missed that tweet. :lmao:

He's a good dude but I hope he's making money off this. Seems like he spends a LOT of time on it.

@jasoncollette How can I replace Melvin Upton in my Gobbler League?

IIRC, it spawned from a bored screen writer back when they were all on strike. Like Pickles said, the character can wear thin, but at the time of its creation there was nothing quite like it. It has developed into a fairly reputable site for info over the years.
