Any thoughts on pitchers for tonight? Leaning towards Porcello at the moment.
Wouldn't touch him , especially on FD. Aside from not K'ing anyone, the weather in the northeast/Philly area is gross today. Cold and rainy. Could be a short outing for Porcello. Unless he's dirt cheap, wouldn't even look that way and even then, I'd probably stay away.

why especially on FD?
Well mainly because you start 1 SP only. And just looked, 7900 , not 'that' cheap really. Don't see the value there. In cash or tournies actually.

Degrom (9K-FD) could be worth paying for IMO. That Nats lineup at the moment is pretty atrocious. Especially vs RHP's. O/U 6.5 to boot. Think you can get 7 strong from Degrom with nice K-potential. Should be a fine cash play.

Seven strong and high K output from a guy with a set pitch count is a lot to ask, especially when you're paying full price (salary wise) for a road start against Jordan Zimmermann. Pass.

Trout is 3-19 against Iwakuma, fyi. Either he's due or he can't hit him. :)

(Pujols is 2-19)

Degrom is pretty economical with his pitch count. I don't see why he couldn't get thru 7 with 90-100 pitches. Pretty reasonable. When you consider the other pitchers in his price range on FD at least, he's not much more expensive and he's probably a lot better.

Again, its a cash play only. Give me 9k Degrom over a 7900 Porcello any day of the week.

I passed on deGrom because of the pitch count. Went back and looked at Porcello after Gildz commments, and I'm not going with him either. I guess I'll spend on Carrasco and go cheap on a hitter or two.

FWIW, Porcello is more of a value play on DK ($6900, 18th of 24 probables) than on FD ($7900, 13th of 24). Weather may be something to consider there, though, as Gildz referenced.

Carrasco I like also. He'll K at least 6 Astros blindfolded. No threat of a weather-shortened game to boot.

Oh and opposing Scott Feldman is the cherry on top.

DeGrom on FD is iffy imo because they're only +120 to win. Ks and IPs are only +1 in their scoring system so that +4 for the win is a bigger factor, relatively speaking.

DK #1

Carrasco, Pineda, Perez, Abreu, Walker, Moustakas, Hanley, Puig, Betts, MA Taylor

Hanley, Moustakas, Walker and Perez have favorable historical history vs the pitchers today, fwiw.

DK #2

Zimmermann, Kazmir, Cervelli, Freeman, Pedroia, C. Davis, Simmons, Brantley, Stanton, Kemp

Tentative DK lineup:

P - S. Kazmir

P - R. Porcello

C - C. Santana

1B - P. Goldschmidt

2B - J. Panik

3B - N. Arenado

SS - J. Rollins

OF - A. McCutchen

OF - C. Gomez

OF - J. Ellsbury

Why is DeGrom on a pitch count? I agree that Nats lineup is horrible right now. But with Wins being so important I would shy away from DeGrom as well.

Tenative, but I like what I've got here.

Carrasco

Norris

Goldschmidt

Peterson

Tulo

Lamb

Peralta

Pollack

Brantely

Like the Dbacks @ home against whatever AAA pitcher the Giants are running out tonight.

FWIW, Heston seems like he keeps the ball down pretty well, he's a sinker/curve guy. May result in a bad-ish outing rather than a disastrous one if he can limit being taken dep.
DAMN DIRTY APES!

Now to check lineups. The above team looks super stacked compared to prior lineups I rolled out.

Porcellolololol?

I wonder if there's any advantage to entering contests that fill up early/the night before, with the intention of making rain-based subs at game-time, hoping that enough other people won't. Would that work?

A 3-run HR by Frenchy ruined what was otherwise an IN YOUR FACE performance from Ricky boy. Maybe next time. All skill.
