I know right we're seeing the last of it iN SA right now as well as Dirk in Dal. Not much player loyalty to teams in any sport. It's show me the money or titles or I'm gone. I miss the days when players showed some sense of loyalty and commitment to the team and not just themselves. Too much showboating and me me me how do I get on the top 10 of SC?

Boring in terms of I knew what the final result would be. Cavs have zero bench not gonna win with that lack of depth. Same issue MIA had the first year of Bosh/Bron/Wade no depth in the bench hence why they lost. Cavs decided to show Thompson the money and bend over for GM/President of the Cavs LeBron.

It's a bit different.  Most people who had NBA knowledge thought the Warriors would have absolutely no competition the day they signed Durant.  I know the NBA was hyping Warriors/Cavs all season but the casual fans were the only ones buying that.  The Celtics had to get through James and then through the Lakers when they won.  They didn't feel dominant the year they won the title.  The Heat went 2-2 in the finals unless I'm remembering it wrong which I might be.  They felt more dominant than Boston but still felt like they could be beaten especially after they lost to the Mavs year 1.  The Warriors are such a strong team I can't imagine them going more than 5 against a single team in the NBA right now.  And they're so young if they stay together I think we're 5 years away from any sense of competitiveness in the league.  I think the last time any pro sport felt this unbalanced was during the Bulls second run years 1-2 (they were starting to show their age year 3).  To me it's not that interesting when you know the winner before game 1 of the regular season.  Didn't 538 have the Warriors as a 94-6% favorite before this series?

They'll gift them both Game 3 and extent game 4. They overhyped this series to the point they need to make it 7 games. Dubs have been the far better team both games so far.

Really? So it is okay for the owners to make as much as they can, but not the players? They also can't have any fun while playing a game? Have you seen the loyalty on both sides? If the NBA owners could just cut players like the NFL they would. Why do you hold players to a standard that the owners would never hold themselves too?

No I grew up in the 90s 00s but grew up watching teams with guys with Player loyalty. i'm a big Soccer fan and saw a bunch of players who spent their whole career as one club guys. Watched The Phillies who kept many of their guys and many wanted to stay and signed to stay, Watch guys who were cut get second chances and stay on said team until they declined and either retired or cut and didn't play again. There was still a bit of player loyalty back in the 90s early 2000s.

Because you are looking at just this year, the Warriors took their lumps. They lost to the Spurs in the 2nd round in 2013 after upsetting the Nuggets, they lost to the Clippers in 7 in 2014, and they lost in 2016 to the Cavs in 7.

There's a reason a cap is there. Sports is a business. Don't like it become an owner. It's why I say I rather own a team then play the sport you make even more money as the owner then a player. I think the amount of money owners and players make in all sports is outrageous. It began with the AROD Tex contract in baseball and multiplied. JJ Reddick this offseason is projected to make 18-20M a year. I'm sorry but a one trick money like Reddick as much as I like isn't work 18-20M a year. Games are over priced from team paraphernalia to food, parking and tickets you name it. Pretty soon the middle class won't be able to afford to go to a sporting event and it'll be all CEO's, Presidents and business owners. I try to hold everyone to the same standards. In fact I haven't said it here but other forums the owners shouldn't complain about money being lost to player deals as they are the ones willing to hand them out as well as wanting to make more money. Instead of trying to pocket all that dough for their own being or just the leagues why not invest in player safety and other things or agree to reasonable salaries for all.

So because they only won 1 of the last 2 titles I should feel bad for them and be happy that I knew the winner of the championship the day Durant signed?  Should I still feel that way if they keep the band together and win the next 4 or 5?  Unless it's my team I like a league to at least have 2 realistic teams that could win.  The NBA did not have that this year.  I don't like the Cavs or Warriors and haven't watched a minute of the finals because I didn't expect the series to be close.  So take my opinion for what it's worth.  If you like watching an unstoppable machine good for you.  I didn't find the Jordan years interesting either.

However there are players who care more about themselves then helping a team win. I'm talking about the guys who are locker room cancers, show boat on the field and court, don't hustle out an out, bat flip. Yesterday Phillies CF should've had a 3B but decided he thought ball was hit out Bat Flips starts jogging last minute realizes its not making it and only ends up with a double when it should've been more. Was 1 out. Next guy Flyball out could've scored from 3rd. Next guy up out inning over. Team won but what if they lost by one run? I hate guys like that. If I was coach I'd have taken him out right then a there and told him your sitting for a weak. Want to act like a tool you can ride the bench.

This is the problem in my opinion, if it was your team you wouldn't care. How can you be mad at a team for doing all they can to win?

Good for you.  I still stand by my point that if you know the champion before game 1 is played it's boring as hell.  And if the Warriors keep together and no other team makes huge changes we're looking at the same thing next year. :sleep:

They've been ding it for yrs. Most people won't believe Donaghey because he was caught and think he was just saying stuff since he was caught. NBA quickly swept that under the rug as fast as they could. Mark Cuban had a former FBI investigator look into the finals Dal lost to Mia in 05. Guy told Cuban apparently he had a great case it was fixed the series and he'd win big time. Cuban however didn't want to rock the boat of money flow in the NBA owners and didn't have enough support to get ownership approval to investigate Stern and the league offices. Too many guys too comfy with their current jobs. How about the 01 West finals Sac/LAL and those questionable calls in game 4-5. Kobe Elbows Bibby right in front of Ref on inbounds no call Horry hits the Game Winner. Lakers the one game had 30 something FTs in 4th 4th QTR compared to Sac's 10 I believe. The commentators Marv Albert and Bill Walton were beside themselves on calls. Walton was going ballistic at the horrible officiating. Bill Walton since then hasn't been employed by the NBA. Coinicidence? I think not. Look at every series that was extended and see who the official was suppose to be and see who replace them. Sterns boy Joey Crawford. Crawford should've been thrown out and banned for life after his Incident with I believe Duncan. Suspended a year and then Stern begged him to comeback. I've been watching the NBA since i was really young. That 01 finals I know adults who have refused to watch the NBA since then because of how much they thought it was fixed. After the Donaghey problem I heard comments like Glad I haven't spent a dime on them since 01 and other comments similar. Steve Javey even admitted he use to T up certain players just because he didn't like them. How can you have officials who do that and then admit that after retiring?

You could have said the same thing last year and the Cavs rose up, this series isn't over. We have no idea what will happen next year, but how exciting would it be if someone did rise up and gave the Warriors a run or even beat them.

 
I find it fascinating.  Watching the best team I've ever seen (and yes, I watched Jordan's Bulls) go against the best player I've ever seen.  

 
I will admit if Golden State had closed it out when they were up 3-1 last year, I would probably be annoyed by the 3-match.  But they didn't.  Game 3 should be a hoot.

I found the MJ years quite entertaining but then again I am a Bulls fan. unless its your team you find it boring. I hate seeing NE win the SB almost every year but if I was a NE fan you think I'd give a dam what me opposing fan thinks? Unless it's your team it's not fun. But with the NBA in the last 20 yrs how many different winners have we had not named Chi, LAL, Bos, Mia and now GS and to an extent whichever team LeBron is on? At least with the NHL, MLB and even NFL to an extent we've had multiple new teams win a title. Any year in the NFL anyone can get a good run and win. NHL same. Baseball sometimes you just need to be hot a STL WC team with barely 80 wins won a WS. When's the last time a #8,7 or 6 seed in the NBA has had a legit shot?

Way better then Albert Pujols Angels or Tex with NYY or even Feilder's. Plus if Howard hadn't hurt his Ankle which many believe contributed to the Achilles problem he'd have lived up to it. Plus he helped win a WS so I'm just fine with that Contact.

I think a huge issue with the NBA is it's been accused of fixing for yrs yet no one says a thing about it. After the Donaghey thing more people believed in it as the NBA was quick to sweep it under the rug. No David Stern or other NBA Personal saying we are looking into it, we're gonna let the law enforcement officials look into everything and cooperate etc. Nothing that said hey we disagree with what he did. Not only that but with basketball because the way of it's played and all one call can change a whole game. Best player fouls out on a questionable call or Flagrant 2 or 2nd T of the night> Good luck winning now especially if they were the only reason you were winning or legit in it.

No I just don't like players thinking they are the team. No I in Team. I grew up with military Grandfather and also had a few former athletes who played pro in MLB and NFL and were always told don't show up the other players on opposing teams and act like you've been there before. If you need to act like a Dbag then you have some real insecurity issues with yourself. Especially if your the guy on the team who thinks he's way better then he was. We had a QB like that on my HS football team and everyone use to make fun of him. He's also one of the big reasons we never got far in the playoffs. Cared too more about trying to impress the girls and others then trying to win a game as a team. Especially in Football that predicated on trusting your teammates.

It was over before it began.  Warriors were the better team last year and added the 2nd best player in the NBA.  Cavs can win game 3 or 4 if they are hitting on their 3s.  But it will never be a close series.  Have fun, enjoy it.  I won't be watching it.  Hopefully Durant leaves GS or LeBron joins San Antonio.  Then there will at least be 2 teams that have a chance at a title.  Unfortunately, I have a feeling the NBA landscape won't change enough for any team to get close to GS next year either.

 
The Dubs are not interesting from a competitive perspective. We all knew they would win. But if you're a fan of quality basketball (or even a casual digging the long ball) this team is entertaining as hell to watch. It's incredible to watch KD and Curry consistently drop these 26 foot 3's. Not a spot on the floor a defense is safe guarding them. Or even watch Curry punk LeBron out on the dribble tonight. That was amazing. I can get why people get annoyed by some guys like Curry or Green.

I don't get the hate on KD. Dude wanted and deserves a ring. He did what he felt was best. I'd get the hate if he came in and took a back seat to Steph. But he joined a team with an MVP, and immediately took over that top role from Curry. He led these guys to this Finals. And is carrying them so far. That deserves nothing but respect IMO.

Literally this was me tonight and that PPV is nothing more then a watered down kids version of old gimmick matches. The PPV was Extreme Rules. I could maybe name you only 3 things in that whole PPV that came off as Extreme. Where back in the 90s early 2000s the whole show was like that. In other words NBA should be embarrassed the PPV for a Show that got the 2nd lowest rating in their history since coming on USA network in the 90s had more people interested in that then the finals.

People say that all the time until the next cycle happens. It's an old excuse for people to defend it. I'm not saying you do this personally but I've seen people especially 76ers fan (Being from Philly) use this excuse then complain how it's not fair they have these players all together. Can't have it both ways. Again not saying you do this. I just think the excuse overall is kind of weak. How many people said we might not ever see this again with a QB from Favre/Montana/Marino/Young etc? Now we got Rodgers/Brees/Brady/etc. These things go in cycles. People said the something about the Jordan Bulls.

I think the NBA wouldn't. I would think they would hope Cle was just rusty game 1 and could pull it out. If not let GS win have fans thinking the series is almost over Game 3 comes on they give a little hand to the Cavs a call here a call there wham bam thank you ma'am series is now 2-1 and fans are like hey this isn't over yet. Sucker more fans in for ratings and then let the last game of game 7 play out unless they have a certain favorite they want.
