Honestly, the 3-1 jokes stopped bothering me the minute Durant signed and they should be dead once the Indians blew a 3-1 lead too. But carry on if you guys must.
The Indians have nothing to do with the Cavs or the Warriors, especially since the Indians didn't have a historically great season and then gag the championship away like the Warriors did.

OK. Whatever keeps you guys interested in cheering for your garbage teams that don't even have a chance at historically great seasons or championships for the next 2-3 years.

Apologies in advance for what's going to happen to the T-Pups tonight.
Man they did them dirty. Let the Pups think they were in the game till the last 5 minutes. Kind of like how the Cavs toyed with GS by letting them go up 3-1.

Holy #### they got Durant?

Dude, it's funny. They won a championship a couple of years ago, had one of the best (and more important for fans exciting) regular seasons of all time last year, and look to be heading in that direction again this year. I think you can suffer through some dumb jokes on a message board. Lighten up a bit, will ya?

I'm joking around as well. Nothing but friendly banter from my end.

I fell asleep in the 2nd half, but it was a great game at the time. Looks like the T-Wolves had quite the meltdown.

Why the hell is Rubio still on this team? He's awful. Him trying to guard Lowry was comical. He can't defend, he can't shoot. More importantly, every time he's on the court, angels weep because it means the world is missing the possible Dunn/Lavine highlight show.

Similar to what happened last night against the vaunted Clippers.
I know this sounds kinda crazy but I think people are underestimating this team. They may not win 73 because they'll rest guys more, but I would be surprised if they lose more than two games in the playoffs, maybe three max. This is going to end up being easily the best team in NBA history. And barring a rash of injuries it's gonna continue at least until one of their top four leaves, maybe two.

And ultimately I also think its gonna be bad for the league. The uptick in interest from casual fans wanting to catch a glimpse of a superteam will be outweighed by diehard fans of teams coming to the realization that every other team in the league is knocked down a peg in the contention ladder. 60 win teams that used to be contenders are now fringe contenders, 55 win teams that used to be fringe contenders are now teams that would need a miracle, 50 win teams that needed a miracle are now irrelevant. And on the flip side of things there's that much more motivation to tank.

Guess we'll see, but I've been saying this since Durant made his decision and (opening night aside) I haven't anything that's made me waver one bit.

We'll see,  I won't be shocked if this is their best team during their run for a multitude of reasons and no one has really been physical with Steph yet either.  I don't wish injury on the guy, but last year's playoffs showed how to deal with him.

I also think so many teams have something to watch for these days, that it may not matter that they are so good.  The only really depressing situation seems to be your Wiz-ards, Brooklyn, the Kings, and maybe the Mavs.  Everyone else either has a potential entertaining superstar or a decent enough team to keep interest.

Yeah obviously my perspective is tainted by the fact that there is no end in sight for my hopeless misery.  But I've always had that, and I still used to find a reason to watch some basketball almost every night even if my Wiz weren't playing.  This season, though, it seems like every time I check out the matchups and settle in to watch, I'm just not as interested. I think the Warriors might be why- like I said, everyone else is knocked down a notch on the contention ladder. Something like a Clippers-Spurs matchup used to be a great battle of top tier contenders, now it's just two teams jostling to see who might get to take a game off the Warriors in the WCF.

But maybe it's just because I'm turning into a miserable old #######.

Can we get Abe in here to breakdown WTF happened in this Rockets-Donuts saga?!

In a nutshell. BJ Armstrong is a moron.

Sort of serious answer off Armstrong being a moron.  He signed an offer sheet that NJ and Armstrong thought had enough quirks vis a vis the 2018-9 cap that Houston wouldn't match.  But surprise, Houston matched since there were too many opportunities to just waive him this year without it impacting that cap number (i.e. the Nets wanted some protections in case he's a stiff now).  When they matched, those clauses were so bad for Donuts in Houston that Armstrong had a hissy-fit. They eventually settled on a slight better contract for Donuts, but it's still a bad contract for him.

Basically Armstrong and the Nets tried to get too cute and while they made the backend onerous for Houston, the front-end was easy to get out of for Houston with no repercussions and would have screwed Donuts.

There was also $6M in incentives in the offer from the Nyets. Those incentives do not have to be honored by the team matching. Donuts wants those incentives, Houston says tough ####. Armstrong is a moron.

Ummm.... teams have been abusing Curry since last season (watch what CP3 passes as "defense"). He gets grabbed and held all the time. Sure the refs swallow their whistles a bit more in the playoffs, but Curry's poor playoff performance was due to injury rather than how physical it became.

Baffles me that players would choose a former player to represent them in contract negotiations against GMs often with Ivy league educations.

JVG right as usual on the HOU/OKC telecast, the act of jumping into a defender as you shoot and getting a foul is reaching absurd levels.
I've been disgusted with this play for years. It seems pretty obvious when it's happening, so I'm not sure why the NBA can't get rid of it.

The NBA is doing an awful lot right these days, and getting rid of that would make the flow of the game even better.

Can I get an honest assessment of the Pelicans from you knowledgeable NBA fans?

I'm looking for opinions on their roster, Gentry, their future, expectations for how this season plays out,e and expectations for Davis' future with the team?

Just looking for some honest opinions of the team outside local media, which sucks when it comes to NBA coverage. Genuinely in good commentary, thanks.

Outside of Davis they're terrible and the roster doesn't fit together at all.

Nobody on that team is a legit NBA starter outside of Davis. Their #2 player (in terms of minutes played) was the 11th man for the Blazers last year.

Dare I say it, but Rose is actually looking frisky..not as frisky as the GOAT, but frisky.

The GOAT is apparently out $3500 bucks after last night:

Kristaps Porzingis blocks Julius Randle's shot, which means a local New York City basketball program gets $500. Porzingis, who's averaging nearly two blocks per game, is donating $500 per block to the New York Rens, one of the top AAU programs in NYC

Jrue Holiday isn't a legit NBA starter? :loco:
I would say that Jrue is legit starter but probably slightly below average. The other three starters kinda suck. Asik, Hill and Cunningham probably wouldn't be even rotation players on a decent playoff team.

ETA: Fraizer has turned himself into a decent player, probably not starter quality but what should be a nice third guard for the Pelicans. So I don't fault them for starting him in Holiday's absence.

@Notorious T.R.E. I know our Wolves have been having a disappointing season and that you've been living the NBA high-life vicariously through the Latvian wunderkin, but don't fret...for the very, very low price of a mid first-round 2017 NBA draft pick, you too may be able to take the NBA by storm...I present to you:

ANZEJS PASECNIKS

Another thing that will undoubtedly help Pasecniks is just how well his former Latvian teammate Kristaps Porzingis is doing in the NBA, after posting similar numbers in the ACB/EuroCup. While Porzingis was a year and a half younger at the time, and is simply a different caliber of prospect, the two are putting up almost identical scoring, rebounding, passing and shot-blocking numbers on a per-minute basis. Porzingis averaged 21.5 minutes per game, while Pasecniks is playing just under 14, but Pasecniks plays for a much better team, and is far more efficient offensively at the same stage. What's interesting is that Gran Canaria's head coach, Luis Casimiro, actually coached Porzingis for the second half of his final season in Seville.

In a draft class that appears extremely weak for American big men thus far, Pasecniks has been able to capitalize nicely so far with a strong season in Spain, and will undoubtedly be monitored closely by NBA teams as the year moves. He's already put himself in position to be considered a first round caliber prospect, and can continue to gain steam as the season moves on.
I wish our Wolves well in this pursuit.

Anthony Davis and the D-Leaguers gave the Warriors all they could handle tonight. Draymond Green's defense won the game for the third time this year.
Bad call at the end IMO as Davis was going for the tie, disappointing finish in front of a sold out stadium. Couldn't convert points off TOs or finish FT opportunities.
