I like those Wizards uni's. This is the first time I've seen them in a while (since I ditched cable). Are those their regular uni's now. The Wizards name is still terrible, but that's a nice Bullets feel.

Still not sure how I didn't get blacked out from this one like I do every other Wizards game, but I'm pretty excited that I unexpectedly get to watch the Hornets tonight. Until the NBA recognizes their mistake, I guess.

Alternate home unis.  They're pretty sweet.  Tied to a military series promotion.

Sorry the Hornets were the first and likely only victim of a competent performance by the 2016-17 Wizards' bench.  On the bright side, it's kind of like you saw a unicorn.

New deal! One and done stays, but sounds like the league and the union punted down the road, tbd later.
Was hoping for "zero and two" on the draft, but one and done is probably a better system in place for taking down the NCAA.

Nothing too earthshaking in the initial reports.

Shorted preseason to add a week to regular season should reduce the back-to-backs quite a bit.

Players get bigger piece of ad revenues like arena signage.

Union and league establish fund for healthcare and other assistance to retired players, like tuition reimbursement.

Minimum salaries up across the board.

Six-year contracts possible under rare circumstances.

Over 36 rule might be pushed back to Over 38.  (Not sure if the age just got pushed back or if entire provision got rewritten.)

So LeBron will be signing for 5/$210M next year

The exact numbers are tricky, because the new deals’ annual salaries will be tied to the cap and will increase each year, but Aldridge’s back-of-the-napkin math says it’ll start at $36 million next season for vets with at least 10 years’ service, and amount to about $210 million over five years.

Woj's article says it just got pushed back so if you are under 38 for the life of the contract, you can sign a 5 year deal.  It lets Paul sign a 5 year deal this summer (for 207 million)

Definitely trust Woj on stories like this.

The change makes sense - players are lasting longer, and have incentive to with all the money to be made.

It's going to make for some albatross contracts at some point.  It'll also push back when players want their last contract to their age 31 or 32 years.  It has the setup of really putting a damper on FA movement of young top-tier players with them then moving on for the age 32-7 year old contract as smart GMs balk at paying up for those years.  Knowing the Knicks that means they'll be bad forever.

Simmons just posted a 5000 word fanfic of Boogie going to Boston. It is one of the most bat####-crazy things I've ever read.

I was at the downtown Minneapolis Target today and a whole bunch of Wolves walked in to buy toys and stuff for kids.  Saw Towns, Lavine, Wiggins, Dieng, Shabazz, Bjelica, and Aldrich.  You never really quite get how tall those guys are until you're standing next to them in the DVD section.  Also I didn't see Rubio so I assume he hates kids.

Most Spanisheds let the wolves (real wolves) raise their kids in the woods until they're 18.

Nice to see Wiggins giving out an assist somewhere this holiday season.

Yep. Though I think Kelly Oubre is coming along.

I'd be scared ####less giving a 32yo with bum knees 5/$200M. He might be worth it for one or two more years then it will be a disaster.
And I don't think there has been a 6 foot tall player in the post merger to play at an all star level through his mid thirties other than Stockton (technically listed at 6'1", but still). That has included many all-time guards. I think he'll age better than most because he does everything so well, but he's not going to be anything like he is today in a half decade.

That said, I would be happy to overpay him as a Nuggets fan.

All depends on how he adapts. His average shot distance has increased dramatically this season which likely shows he's already losing a step. He's adapted very well so far offensively though. That step will really show on the defensive end when he has to chase around guys like Curry and Dame.

What's the verdict on the League Pass highlight announcer? At first, I thought that rhyming schtick was the worst thing I'd ever heard (Kyyyyrie showin' off the handle before Tristan takes it to the mantle). Now, I think it might still be, but I think it's growing on me.

If it's the same guy that does NBA.com, he is freaking awful.

God, this new CBA is just comical in how badly they are rogering OKC.  First they put in place the Durant rule so their home team have a huge leg up and then they write the rule so that Westbrook doesn't qualify.  Huge ups to Silver and Roberts:

Yep, it's a major bummer for OKC. They've gotten pretty unlucky in how the rules have applied to them. To make it worse, they won't even have the new advantages when Westbrook can become a free agent in 2018 because he'll have played 10 years and other teams can offer him the same starting salary. Had the Thunder known this, they might not have signed him to an extension last summer when Durant left. Like I said, it's a major bummer.
