See i'm not the diehard fans others are. I'm mostly Football and Baseball and Soccer these days. If it wasn't for my love for the Bulls do to my cousin probably would care about the NBA at all. I mean I hardly watch if the Bulls aren't on. Maybe catch a Sixers game if they are playing someone good and maybe catch one of the big games but I can find others things to watch 

 
Warriors still almost certainly win and good for them.  Best team I've ever seen.  But man, I'm hoping the Cavs win game 5 because things would get extremely interesting.

Take LeBron off of CLE and you're left with a roster that probably doesn't get out of the first round.  Take Durant off of GSW and you're left with a roster that went 73-9 last year.  

It's not controversial to suggest LeBron is the uncrowned MVP of the series even after GSW clinches the Finals. 

Suggesting LeBron is superduper important to his team doesn't also mean he's doing it alone.    

 
I'm know the foul disparity was small, I'm a Dubs homer, and the refs were terrible this evening...but did it seem like the Dubs got screwed by a lot of the calls? With the way the Cavs shot it didn't matter, but honestly the refs have been pretty good the past 3 games.

Cavs had one or two more free throws so not really. Was bad all around.

 
I thought the Cavs played fairly well game 2 until the third qtr.  They played game 3 even better but got cold at the end.  And last night was a complete game.  They have a real shot to win again.  Warriors are so crazy good though they only need to turn it on for a few minutes at the right time to control the game.  X factor is the choking from last year?  How will it effect them? I would continue to go through Durant.  Curry looked a bit lost night.

Full disclosure, Cavs homer, but WHAT? Pachullia punches Shumpert and a double technical is called? Everyone in the world believes Green received a technical in the first and when he gets his second, suddenly he didn't get one in the first? Not to mention he whines about every call no matter how obvious. Love gets a flagrant foul by playing the ball and bumping Durant in the head but Green lands in Thompsons head and gets no call? 

Even the broadcasters were shocked by the lack of calls the Cavs got.

I read the the ringers recap and the first half it was all against the Dubs.....22 free throws for the Cavs in the first quarter. Then the fix became too obvious so they then botched the Zaza ball punch and non-flagrant by Draymond.

TBH I did think they called the first T on Kerr and I think the broadcast team may have even posted a graphic assigning it to Kerr. I couldn't hear the sound well, but when you see the replays....Kerr jumps off the bench and when he gets in front of the ref, that's when the T is called. Only after the T is signaled does Draymond get into the picture. It was close, just a split second after.....but at that moment, without the benefit of sound,  I thought they called a personal foul on Draymond and tech on Kerr.

So the numbers and later calls ended up favoring the Dubs, but when then refs give them 20 free throws in the first with tons of BS fouls...it'll really kill any chance the Dubs had, particularly when the Cavs are shooting lights out from 3. 

Welp. No walis, but hopefully we get the chip on Monday in Oakland.

Callahan - who has reffed Cavs to 11 straight wins and the past 3 times Cavs have beat the Dubs.

Davis - voted 3rd worst ref by players and coaches in anonymous poll

Goble - first finals game.

Again, Cavs earned that win, but it does suck that the reffing was so bad last night.

 
Most of those calls on GS in the first quarter were easy ones. Seems like Cleveland's strategy was to go at them and make the refs call the fouls, and it worked.  That said, it goes without saying that NBA officials have no problem giving more benefit of the doubt to the home team that is down in a series (to make the series go longer).

I'm not sure you're going to get the response you're looking for with the NBA ref-spiracy lean. It's a pretty tired subject around here. I'm not even saying you're wrong, but the Cleveland homers for sure will give you a hard time about it (they're especially sensitive). Just looking out.

According to Duncan, it was definitely called on Kerr over the PA system in the arena.

 
Cleveland got the benefit of a couple calls early, but

1. It didn't matter, Cleveland was awesome that game and wasn't going to lose.

2. Cleveland was at home and teams almost always get the calls at home, it is what it is. Game 5 will probably go the Warriors way.

3. The refs were just bad, they had an awful night and they botched easy calls on both sides. Zaza, back court violation, etc.

4. The Warriors can only blame themselves for the loss, Cleveland got what they wanted when they wanted and had open shots all night. Klay and Curry missed a ton of open looks, and every time the would make a run and cut it to 12ish they would get a stop and then give up an offensive rebound or a loose ball foul because Thompson was about to get a rebound and then score on the next shot. You can't give a team that is playing that well that many possessions and expect to win.

5. I hate Zaza, I like the scrappy players that are borderline dirty. They walk the line and are invaluable to a team, but Zaza goes way beyond that. I hope he is out of the league soon and just off my television. Plus he is very hard on the eyes, he has a face that only a mother could love.

 
I'll risk sending the game back to Cle if it exposes Stephanie Curry for the millenial wuss he is. I've luvluvLUVed his game since the NCAA tourney where he broke out, suffered thru all those early foot probs and thrilled when he single-handedly revolutionized my favorite sport. But this cazhin it has got to go - if you can make it look easy, do so but, for crissakes, hunker down when it gets hard. It's gone past being an irritant, it was the key (along with the league-ordered 1st Q foul calls) to last nite's loss. Everyone in The East well knows that the way to stop Kyrie is to make him work on D. Not only does Curry slough off defense of Irving onto KlayT too often, he lets him loaf on D. As soon as they double him high, he dumps & floats like a trey-specialist the rest of the play. You're the point guard of this year's Greatest Team Of All Time. Respect that and do some frikkin work!

Just as i keep LeBron from top-spot consideration for his refusal to see the forest for the trees and keep Tim Duncan out of my Pantheon for refusing to guard Shaq, Mr Mouthpiece's sport-transforming talent slides down my scale with every game he smoothes.

Agree zaza sucks.  Him and Draymond on the floor at the same time is entertaining though cause your just waiting for some dirty or cheap shot

 
Don't follow the NBA like I used to, in fact I have only watched the finals, so forgive me for this question. Why do some call Golden State the "Dubs"? 

 
The number of referee stoppages and delays was egregious.  If you want to help Cleveland out, that's the way to do it to give James more rest.

Because people like to come up with nicknames for everything now...

Warriors starts with "W".  Saying the "double yous" would just sound silly... So "The Dubs" was born..

It is true that it was marked down that way, but the ref gave the T sign directly toward Kerr as he came running up the sideline off of the bench.  Draymond was not far away, so it is possible that it was relative to whatever Draymond was saying, but Kerr was right in his sightline at the time.

If the refs were going to do anything hinky with the Ts, I think that is unlikely that they would suddenly realize they needed to retroactively remove a T from Draymond.  I would find it more plausible that they would have know than Draymond had a T already and would not have called the second one (which didn't seem obviously egregious).

LeBron has an NBA record streak of winning at least 1 road game in 29 straight series.  Last year his streak was on the line down 1-3 to GS as well.

They have been calling them that for at least ten years, probably fifteen. They've just been to ####ty for anyone to notice.
