2016 Cakeleeg ***OFFICIAL*** - 2017 draft starting soon (2 Viewers)

I guess Urbanhack is paying this year.  I'll pay next year when I cut the uncut glass I am sitting on.

Can you still fax glass in 2017?  I'm guessing the answer is yes.

Pickles has paid and Bogart paid his half.  And I think Buckfast paid too....he's the fella with the last name that rhymes with "poop" right?

I'm fairly pleased with my roster.

Although my team will likely be in the bottom third in OBP, I'm pretty loaded with power (Rizzo, Chris Davis, Chris Carter, Trumbo, Dozier) and speed with multiple guys who could potentially steal 40+ bases each (DeShields, Dyson, Segura).  Essentially my entire squad hits at the top or middle of the order, so I am hopeful that the runs and RBIs will be there.  And I feel like I have a number of bats with strong breakout potential (Corey Seager, Trevor Story, Ozuna, Shaw).

My pitching staff is loaded with 9+ K/9 strikeout artists (Sale, Liriano, Darvish, Cueto, Severino, Gausman, Kennedy).  If Severino and Gausman breakout as many expect, my staff could be downright scary.  My closers are somewhat pedestrian with some question marks, but every bullpen in the league has question marks.

Overall, I feel like I built a contender with plenty of upside.

Translation:  "I have Rizzo, Chris Davis, Sale and a bunch of crap."

Segura won't even get on base 40 times this year so you'll need a few double steals IMO
Strong words for arguably the hottest hitter in baseball at the moment who is currently batting .527 with a 1.344 OPS in spring training.  I'm sure he will keep it up in the regular season.  Honestly, I'm just hoping that he can surpass his 14 walks in 584 at-bats from last season.

Nolan Arenado has a 1.673 OPS.  Currently batting a cool .580.

The Draft Dominator-esque program that I use for fantasy baseball provides projected roto standings using their projections.  It is obviously somewhat biased in favor of my team since I relied, in part, on their projections in drafting my team (but, on the other hand, my team is pretty nasty).  Here are the draft program's preseason rankings:

1. Buckfast - 102

2. Bogart/FDAS - 92

3. Lambskin/Bender - 90

4. Cheese - 84

5. Shuke - 78

6. Cosjobs - 78

7. Urbanhack/Dr. Detroit - 78

8. SoCalBroncoFan - 75

9. Capella - 72

10. Chemical X - 71

11. GM - 70

12. Trogg - 64

13. Mr. Pickles - 53

14. St. Louis Bob - 43

This is how you know those projections suck.

The same projections actually did a nice job predicting the final standings last year.  Here were my Cake preseason rankings last year with the final standings in parentheses:

1. Buckfast (3rd)

2. Greco/Dr. Detroit (9th)

3. Mr. Pickles (2nd)

4. Cheese (1st)

5. Capella (10th)

6. Shuke (5th)

7. Urbanhack/Eephus (8th)

8. Trezilla (13th)

9. SoCalBroncoFan (3rd)

10. Chemical X (7th)

11. GM (14th)

12. Cosjobs (11th)

13. Bender/Lambskin (6th)

14. Trogg (12th)

The same program's preseason rankings last year correctly predicted 3 of the top 4 finishers and 3 of the bottom 4 finishers.

Maybe Pickles should be a little worried (although he did pick up another closer today).

Lol at pickles at 13. Might want to tweak that system for next year.
The projections have Pickles towards the bottom of most hitting categories.  Looking at his roster, I'm not sure that those projections are that far off.  I think he is going to need some legit breakout seasons from Springer, Peralta, and Hosmer to stay competitive in the hitting categories.  Jackie Bradley may be his saving grace.

You didn't bold enough IMO.

I used a draft software also, mostly just for tracking rosters and positions. I don't necessarily agree with their projections, but it's another piece of projecting to look at.

1. cheese 98

2. Capella 92

3. Socalbroncofan 90

4. Dr. D 84

5. Shuke 80

6. Lamb/Bender 78

7. Bogart/FDAS 76

8. Chem X 72

9. Buckfast 71

10. trogg 67

11. Pickles 67

12. cosjobs 66

13. GM 56

14. St Louis Bob 54
