***2016 MLB Playoff thread: Cubs win for first time since sliced bread hit market (1 Viewer)

Really? Stooping to Dr.D levels? Want to bring up Josh Hamilton killing a fan while you are at it?
  I don't like the Rangers. I think they acted very cowardly this season in waiting 33 at bats then getting their "revenge" on Bautista in his very last appearance against them. It comes across as gutless. As does drinking and driving.

Won't help, he's trolling in the Mets thread too.
How was I trolling?  I simply stated they finished the season with an easy schedule.  That gets magnified in baseball when bad teams are more likely to try out their minor league players for a start.

One of the most important things I've learned is to take a contrarian view on sports. So, I am glad when people want to correct me but it rarely works out for them.

Best of luck in this series.

Yet somehow, the 73 win Warriors blowing a 3-1 Finals lead, surprised you.

As gutless as not turning in a fan that threw a beer at an opposing player?  Asking for a friend.

Haven't seen much talk of the other series starting today. Is everyone just penciling in the Red Sox to advance due to the Indians' health issues in the rotation?  I don't know what side I like with the series prices I'm seeing (-160/+140).
I'm assuming everyone already penciled in the Red Sox as World Series champs.

I'm pretty sure he was gone seconds after he did it. Apparently's there's video of him running down the concourse immediately after and that's how the police were able to easily identify him.

Yes, this works out well because you have your contrarian hot take and then when you're wrong you can just shrug it off because what was conventionally thought to be the outcome, was in fact the outcome.

:lmao:

Are you posting as money.never.sleeps in the evening? :lmao:
Har har har ... how was water aerobics this morning?

As a Rangers fan I'm nervous playing the Jays. Our pen is shaky at best and Dyson consistently puts runners on in closing situations that will cost us vs a team like Toronto.

Hamels has been up and down lately but I think he plays well today and gets though the 7th.

After Hamels and Darvish we're screwed. Cant trust holland or Colby.  Martin Perez won't see a start in this series thank God.

With all that said I do believe this one is going 5. And I'll take hamels all day at home in a big game.

BOL.

Holland not on the Rangers roster, will Lewis get game 3? I assumed Perez.

Perez is awful on the road but I hadn't had chance to check the roster until now.

Lewis since returning from injury has been trying to work his way back but it isnt there.. so we'll see.

does money sleep after 5 ambien?
1 works.

Lewis will go game 3 and I expect hamels game 4 or start Perez for few innings then go to hamels but to many IFs right now.

Perez and Jefferies should see long relief if necessary .

I just hope banister doesn't out think himself like he did numerous times this season at critical points.

My book has the Cubs -249 for the NLDS.  Does anyone find that price too expensive?  My thinking is that it's a short series and SF has 2 great pitchers who will start 3/5 games.  SF is +222.

And MLB scheduling both @ Texas games in the afternoon during the week is complete BS.... way to reward home field advantage.

no idea what MLB is doing

Nats' starting catcher tomorrow against Clayton Kershaw is a 23 year old with 38 career major league plate appearances.  Should go well. :(

It's stupid. There are expectations that 20-40% of seats won't be filled until the later innings.

You can stubhub tickets for half face.  A playoff game.

I'm a fan and probably won't even catch an inning on TV in real time until game 3. Nice schedule you got there MLB.

It's like everyone in here is sleeping on Cleveland.  There's a good chance Cleveland could catch Boston sleeping and run away with this thing.  Bauer today, Kluber 2 more times.  I like their chances.  Bauer has been pitching well lately.  Not to mention their bullpen is pretty darn good.  But it's not like I'm a homer or anything.   :D

I tried  I like the Red Sox to win the series of course, they're the better team according to most metrics and they're much healthier. But the Indians do have home field, the lineup is mostly intact, and there's that bullpen. I'm wondering if there's value in the Indians at +150 or whatever.

Plus I think we can all agree that other than our favorite team winning it all, the best possible postseason result would be the Indians coming back from a 3-1 deficit to stun the Giants in the World Series.

I'm still dreaming about an Indians vs Cubs World Series....but I like your scenario as well!

Kluber two more times?  I was reading he's only been throwing 30 pitch bullpen sessions so I guess he could start twice, but they may need to be shorter outings.

Canada feed was slow switching over. Did I miss any U-S-A! chants yet? Now there's someone talking over the broadcast of the Canadian anthem trying to steal notes from Sheffield/Pedro/Twitter, not sure if its still messed up?

If I was a Cubs fan I would be throwing up right now.

Giants are the most dangerous draw for them.

:ptts:  cubs fans. Giants in 6.

The news floating around CLE is that is why Bauer starts Game 1.  Kluber pitches Game 2.  Tomlin Game 3.  Clevinger/Bullpen Game 4.  Kluber back by Game 5 (if needed).

The Bullpen game always has me nervous, but Clevinger has put in some solid innings lately.  They could go that route or bring Bauer back on short rest with Clevinger and Bullpen taking over half the game.

But yes, Kluber for Game 2 and then Game 5 (if needed) has been the talk of the schedule from beat writers, bleacher report, etc.

Edit to add recent pitching rotation posted online:

Game 1: Bauer Game 2: Kluber Game 3: Tomlin Game 4: Bauer (3-days rest, if needed) Game 5: Kluber (normal rest, if needed)Read more at: http://nesn.com/2016/10/indians-announce-alds-pitching-rotation-red-soxs-still-to-be-determined/
