***2016 MLB Playoff thread: Cubs win for first time since sliced bread hit market (1 Viewer)

Am I right that after this, Jays have Loup, Tepera, Feldman. Rangers have Dyson and likely multiple innings from Martin Perez??

So.. Jays need to get them here

I flipped over to the game from the debate. This is so much better. I don't know what the hell I was thinking.
I skipped the debate after a few minutes and went to the Packers-Giants game since I own Lacy.  I need 8 more points out of him.  Walked out of the room, came back and see him stretched out on the trainers table with a scowl on his face.  So now I switched to baseball.

Playoffs have been exceptional thus far. Here's hoping it can continue at this insanely tense pace. And great work Dr. D with the title updates.

All the Blue Jays have proven is they can beat the Rangers in a postseason series which is about as good as beating an AAA team.

I said the same thing to my brother. Jays had nothing left that was reliable. I was actually surprised they let osuna pitch 2 innings after the scare.

Pretty cool that it was Odor making the error.

I'm scared of seeing the Jays in the World Series, but I love this team. I've caught a bunch of their games on mlb.tv. They're so much fun. I hope they keep winning.

As much #### as I took for pointing out the Rangers luck this year in the baseball forum...

There is your regression.

lol beating the Rangers wasn't really an impressive accomplishment
While that may be true, we've seen the clearly superior/favored team choke away the impossible. Take for instance the Golden State Warriors losing a 3-1 lead to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

He's a troll. Tmz90210 thinks the Jays suck, beating the Rangers isn't an accomplishment and laughed at me for saying I'd rather see Boston than Cleveland. At best, he thinks there's one good team in the AL (maybe 2 but the second is KC :lmao:  )

Also, stop quoting him, I don't want to see his ####.

:lmao:  you think beating the Rangers is an accomplishment? :lmao:

Yeah I think I'm going to put this person on ignore.  I've never done that before with anyone on this board but this person's posts are a total waste of space.

Well, no.  It is. They've made the final four.  You really don't think that's an accomplishment?
Out of three Wild Card starting pitchers, they were lucky to avoid Syndergaard and Bumgarner.  They lucked out facing Chris Tillman.  The Rangers were undoubtedly the worst playoff team remaining.  They were barely a .500 team according to BP's adjusted standings.  Everything about Texas was terrible.

Switch any other playoff team with the Blue Jays that had the good fortune of facing Tillman and Texas, and they advance to the ALCS in three or four games too.  Sometimes teams get to advance simply because they get a really easy road in the postseason.

:lmao:  I hate the Blue Jays but this is rich.   :lmao:

:lmao:  But it is. :lmao:
You see tstd007 doesn't believe in the regular season. He doesn't think having the 4 best teams after 162 games is a good system. He thinks it puts too much emphasis on that small 162 game sample size.

Rather he thinks there should be more playoff teams, 8 in fact, so that we get some sub or near .500 teams involved. Then he thinks they should compete in series must larger than that 162 game regular season - a best of 3 series! This will eliminate the randomness of those 162 games, as the three game playoff series will truly allow the cream of the crop to rise to the top.

He's established that he doesn't think Toronto, Texas or Boston are good teams. Perhaps more importantly, he's stated he always takes a contrarian opinion on sports and those that oppose him are rarely right (because how can they be, if his contrarian view proves true than :confetti: and if it doesn't, well, what was expected to happen happened and how can you fault him for that?)

Bad form by the Blue Jays, not checking into this thread to find out if it was Ok to celebrate advancing in the post season.
As the thread originator, and the guy who got this to stick in the FFA, I fully approve of any and all fan celebrations here.

YIC,

DD

They should move all of you morons back to the baseball forum, and then delete the ####ing baseball forum.

I love that @Northern Voice has me on ignore but can't stop talking about me.  I also love when he posts incredibly stupid #### since he doesn't have a clue about introductory statistics.

One more thing that makes no difference now and I get the reasoning but still, come on...

If Texas had won tonight, TOR/TEX game 4 was 1 PM tomorrow = day game after night game, with CLE/BOS 630?, I think, despite them not playing today.

I understand completely why the game with Toronto will always be lowest priority for US TV - ratings will make that the decision the right one, even with a series that had the intrigue of TEX/TOR.

Shouldn't they factor in the competitive balance between series though? Neither Toronto or Texas would be at a disadvantage to each other, but catchers, bullpens etc... would have been impacted by a 1 PM start tomorrow... Of course both teams have to deal with it but it was completely unnecessary in this instance.

You're awful. Seriously. I know you from the wagering thread and always liked you. But you've become combative and abrasive.
I will never be combative nor abrasive to a poster who doesn't deserve it.  I would absolutely never talk to you the way I respond to some of these other posters.
